I'm looking for a good PICT editor. It can't be Photoshop, I'm not willing to pay ( ) So, any help is greatly appreciated.

If you don't want to pay $600 for PS 6, you can probably find PS 4 on ebay for significantly less.

I'm not sure what features you're looking for and how high-powered you want your PICT editor to be, but I've always found GraphicConverter ($35) to be a great graphics program. It might not serve your purposes very well, however, if you're doing some high-end editing.

Well there is a free version of Color-It available, it would be able to do what you are wanting. I can remember who makes it though. Do a search for Color-It on (url="http://"http://www.download.com")www.download.com(/url)

However, Photoshop is still much better. You should look into buying it if you're considering doing anything more than messing around with ship masks and sprites.
And before you condem Photoshop as being overpriced, you should at least (url="http://"http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/tryreg.html")try(/url) it.

Oh. I got a full, Limited Edition Version from a Mac Format cover CD once. I could email it and its serial number to whoever is interested. It is quite old, but still has pretty good functions. I use Fireworks 3 now anyway, so I dont use the serial.

I recomend Graphic Converter. A great shareware program. It's available here: (url="http://"http://www.lemkesoft.de/")http://www.lemkesoft.de/(/url)

Color-It is great. Also, Photoshop LE isn't all that bad...

Photoshop LE is the worst thing to darken this world since dynamite. It's even worse than the dreaded PhotoDeluxe.
If you want plenty of bang for your buck, Adobe Photoshop Elements (about $100) has nearly all the features of Photoshop at only a fraction of the price. I've been using it for all the time I've been making EVO plug-ins.

If I'm not mistaken, Adobe Elements is the upgraded and slightly changed version of Photoshop LE. I could be mistaken though.

Graphicconverter has a crappy drawing interface, although powerful.
I like futurepaint. Go to (url="http://"http://www.StazSoftware.com")www.StazSoftware.com(/url)
Anti-aliased pencil, etc... Aldus SP has the best UI I have ever used, though. It's REALLY old.

With as many features as Elements has, it would be way easier for them to just take off a few of Photoshop's features.
Great. Thanks will be distributed! sprinkles powder out of a bag that says 'thanks' on it
