Graphic Coloring

Ok so i read the graphics creation topic, and now i've got Strata Base and am upgrading to Pro soon, but i've got one question. Now that i've created several ship graphics, how do i color them? I've colored several weapon pics with lighting, but can i do anything else with strata? or do i need another program?

sorry about all of the question, but i still count as "inept" with graphics and could use a little prodding along.

What you are referring to is called texturing. It is the process of adding color, texture, and properties to a material.

Here is a small tutorial on texturing in Strata 3D that I bookmarked a while ago: (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/trententtye/howto/textures.htm")http://homepage.mac....to/textures.htm(/url)

Hope this helps. I was thinking on making a texturing tutorial for Strata myself, but as of yet havent gotten round to it. If you need any help with texturing, modeling, or anything to do with Strata 3D in general, please feel free to contact me. My email is ewanc@mac.com

A small example of a piece of work in progress:

Made in Strata 3D 3.0.2 free. Total modeling time - about 2 hours 15 mins. This ship has a purpose but it wont be revealed just yet. (this pic is somewhat out of date anyway - read "updated model")

Another thing about simple colors... If you cannot achieve the correct color, use an art program like GraphicConverter to change the colors in the pictures. I must say, for my original plug-in for EVC, 'Rebel Alliance'(different from the one released) I used this technique in Aldus SuperPaint as I got Bryce 3 half a year later at which point I had no idea how to use it. This is also especially useful as making textures is not terribly easy, and also some colors/'feels' you cannot easily create.
