You might have had one recently, i dont really know, but lets do another one!
It will be split up into categorys, which are as follows: 2D, Infini-D/mechanisto, Lightwave/Bryce, Landing Pics/planets.
Good luck, all! Graphics mostly judged on: Originality, Effort, Texturing, etc..

Details, give us details! Like, when will it be? And who will be doing the judging? Will it be you?

Mechanisto with Lightwave? Thats not really fair... A person who is an expert in both could almost always make a better ship in Lightwave. It's not $2500 for nothing.

And what if we use, say, POV-Ray? Are we then limited to 2D pics, landing pics, and planets? I would like another graphics contest (preferably one that will allow entries until at least the third of next month), but I don't like the notion of categorizing images by what they were made with.

So Infini-D and Mechanisto are in the same category?
And can we enter more then one image? For instance, could I enter an image in the 2D category as well as the Infini-D / Mechanisto category?

Put Strata 3D in the Infini-D/Mechanisto group and I will enter.

Infini-D/Mechanisto...nevermind my earlier ranting...I guess I can't read today.
ok. Here is a new list of categorys:
phototshop/painter (or any other painting prog.
Strata 3D, Infini-d, mechanisto, logomotion, ray dream
Lightwave, Bryce 3D, ray dream (note: ray dream I have only seen a little work of, so its in two categorys)
landing pics/planets.
you can enter however many times you want, and If you want to enter an image in a different category (say an image made in strata entered into the ligtwave/bryce category) ...its perfectly ok. But do it on your own risk. I will be judging...unless a moderator wants to take over and let me enter the contest....
You have 2 weeks to post your graphics.
And wyvern... About not liking what people made based on program. If I had made a category, like fighters, and someone in mechanisto wanted to enter, he would have to be competing with lightwave, bryce, AND all of the other good programs. that would be an unfair advantage, like nwa first said.
oh yea, It has started now, and it ends in around 2 weeks.
Good luck!

Ok,I have a nice ship pic I made in Mechanisto. It's the development pic of my Phion Assault Carrier spruced up a bit. I'm quite proud of it,so how do I enter?
Well if this is truly going to be a graphics contest then there should simply be catagories. Capitol ship, fighter, landing pic, planet , and combat scene or whatever and anyone using any program can enter any catagory. I have seen some pretty impressive stuff created by programs that people scoffed at. An overall winner can be chosen in each category and other winners can be chosen based on specific programs. That is probably as fair as it could get. By the way once we have created the pic what do we do with them? Send them to you or post them here or wiat two weeks?
------------------ What's a signature?!
I like the idea of categorizing by ap used. I say go for it.

Yeah, what do we do? (Not like my entry is done yet... it's not even begun! ;))

Ah. So really the categories are: 2D, 3D, planets/landing pics, and stuff the creator thinks can compete with Weepul 884. Alright, then. Unfortunately, I can't (without more trouble than I care to go to) enter anything in a graphics contest until the third of next month. If you need judges, though...
In what programme category my Shade would go. I what is this "I'm gonna be the judge". The judges are supposed to be elected. The thing that you make cool ships doesn't make you the one. And in the first ship contest that gave impulse to creating of the Gallery here the ships were voted by the viewers of the contests homepage (which Roger and Co. has nicely made-are you gonna make the one too?). This is what's called a contest.

One: Unless Admiral Zombat specifies otherwise, Shade goes into whichever category you want it to, much like POV-Ray, and anything else he didn't list. Two: What gives Zombat the right to declare himself judge is the fact that he was the one who finally decided it was time for another graphics contest. If you want a graphics contest with different rules, wait for this one to end, and then start one yourself.
I've already completed a ship for the Infini-D category, and I'll submit a photoshop graphic (hehe) for the 2D category soon. Both oh which I plan posting at the Image Gallery.
Alright, here's my Infini-D entry, but please refer to the Image Gallery for a larger view of three different angles of the ship.

OK! FINE, SCREW MY IDEAS. ELECT YOUR DARN JUDGE, AND JUST POST THE PICTURES UP ON THE BOARD, LIKE SKYBLADE DID!
Gosh...go easy, its my first graphics contest I have done. And I thank you, wyvern, for backing me up, it was very nice....you should get a karma point.
Perhaps their should be broad sub-categorys, for instance, weapons/ships/landing pics/outfits, under the programs used.
I dont know. I resign from my self-appointed job as a judge. So that leaves the question, WHO WILL JUDGE!?
No, no, Zombat... You remain the judge. Why people have a problem with that is beyond me, but judging from your own graphics experience, you'll make a good image selector. I elect you as judge.
This will never get anywhere if it doesn't quickly become organized. I'd do it, except I want to enter and I don't want to host it. My 2˘ is that Lightwave, in the right hands, would be able to walk all over Bryce...
well, who has posted lightwave work in the past month? No one, but me. I think that lightwave/bryce is just fine. Thank you, skyblade.
I guess When I get everything strait, I will post another graphics contest.
I dont know anymore
