I didn't want to post this until after the plug was finished, but since by then you'll all be wrapped up playing EV Nova, I'd better do it now:
Lightning Bolt Software is pleased to announce the development of their first Total Conversion plug-in, Forgotten Legacy. Forgotten Legacy will bring the EV Override universe to Nova, but with a wonderful twist.
In Forgotten Legacy, you take to the stars shortly after the Strand War has been destabilized in favor of the Igadzra. Watch a 5,000-year-old mystery unfold before you, involving the Voinians, Miranu, Strands, and an enigmatic ancient race called the Crescents. As you, the pilot, will discover, the entire Universe rests on the fate of one race, and if you make the right choices, the decision could be yours.
I don't want to spoil too much, but here are some tasty morsels that will be revealed in depth in the plug's storyline:
- A startling relationship between the Miranu and the Voinians - A chain of events that will alter your opinion of Voinians forever - Technology progresses with the addition of many new ships and weapons to all races - And, of course, learn the stunning secret behind Council Station (and Crescent Station too!)
Of course, this plug will Nova-ize all the EVO graphics and whatnot.
Once you've exhausted the possibilities of Nova, go ahead, get nostalgic, and return to the world of EV Override. But as your pilot draws closer to the ultimate conclusion to EVO's storylines, your ideas of its universe will never be the same.

Sounds really cool... I can't wait to see it. Have you guys just started or have you been planning this for a while now?

Sounds like a great plug-in. However, I do have some skepticism regarding the actual completion of such a project, considering the deaths of many an In-Progress Total Conversion Plug-in. I hope that you will not take my skepticism to heart as discouragement, because I, as well as everyone else anticipating the release of Nova, hope that you will complete this remarkable-sounding project. I salute your efforts, and I hope that you will move forward with persistance and pride, and make a good-quality product worthy to be used with EV:Nova. Good luck, and stick with it. I'll look forward to playing your plug-in once I get Nova.

Could we see some sample graphics when you've finished those??
(what's with the flood control? This is my first post for today...)

The plot was finalized, with the help of Lunar2, months ago. The graphics were completed last month, but we want to hold off on the resources until a final Bible is released.

I know where you're coming from. At the moment I've made too many promises to give this up. In other words, I'm in too deep.

Alright, I'll pull an Ambrosia and release some pictures of a "nameless" ship, outfit, and station. I'm sure if you guys pondered at the name of the ship long enough you'd get it.
(And if you can't see these, it's because my JPSnet server is down again.)
I salute your efforts and lookf forward to seeing the final product. But, I am afraid that at this time we are concentrating on the Nova Scenario, it's engine and editors. Which means that I will have to move this thread to the Dev Board.

The graphics, well, you'll need a lot more detail and texture mapping to be at least kind of competetive with Magma or Nova... I realize how hard that is, but you can probably make a substantial improvement over what you have now fairly easily.

Yeah, I know that. I have a dilemma, though: if I add bump maps and decals and random numbers and light sources across the hulls of the ships, in order to fit in with the rest of the game, I'd have to rework all the original EVO ships, too. I really don't have that kind of time. If anyone else feels like tackling the challenge of doing all the ships/weapons (Infini-D, please), I'd be forever appreciative. But I'm not going to be the one.
And if you're wondering, yes, I've seen your work on the Image Gallery. Nice!
