Hey -- does anyone know where I can get some cheap sound recording software (preferably free?) that will work under System 7.5.5?

Have you tried Apples Simple Sound? Im not sure about this, but I think it was included with OS 7.5.5. Appart from that, there is Sound Effects. It is a pretty basic program and the interface is hardly eye candy, but it sreves its purpose. It also has many cool filters you can apply to files such as fade in and out, flange, etc. Its website doesnt work so I have uploaded it to my site for you. There is also sound studio. It is currently on version 1.5.4 but this is OS 8 or higher so I uploaded a copy of 1.2 which works with system 7.5.5 to my website for you. This is a far easier program to use but there are fewer filters to use. I would recomment this one personally. Sound Effects is free. I think soundstudio is too (I'm not sure).

They are both shareware, but can be used free. Sound Effects is still in development, and is at the moment at least free I think. The version of Sound Studio that I uploaded is 1.2, it is on 1.5.4 now but 1.5.4 only works on OS 8 and above. Sound Studio costs $35 for version 1.5.4 as it can now import and edit mp3 files and basically all other files as it has quicktime support.
Doesnt really matter to me - I have Cubase VST (the Ł500 version ).
