The archive "EVOGod.sit" is corrupted or may not be a valid archive. Do you wish to continue working with it?

The mission editor is finished. After a few bells and whistles this afternoon I'll release it onto my webpage at fortunecity.

Because these last few development versions are nearly the complete program, they'll be 10 day limited trial versions. In 10 days i'll definately have the next version up so don't panic.

Cheers!

Your making EVGOD in RealBASIC right? So... How hard would it be to carbonize it?

RealBASIC 3 is fully carbonized (I think this also applies to all mac apps that it makes, but might just apply to ones specifically built for carbon compatibility). I have no idea whether Mr. Odonnel is using 3 or an older version, but I think 3 is code-compatible so it shouldn't be a problem if he wants to update his app. Carbon itself isn't really necessary, since EV isn't carbon, and neither are ResEdit or Resorcerer (both are necessary if you really want to make a plug, even if you just use 'em to change icons, dialogs, or PICT scaling).

The same thing happend to me. I downloaded it, tried to unstuff it, and it didn't unstuff it. Nothing happend! Any clue to what the problem is?

I think it's due to bad servers on the route to you, the file isnt macbinary or binhex afaik, it should be in macbinary.

The latest version (0.7d) has been uploaded and is available...

The following editors work:

• Outfits (works fine)
• Weapons (works fine)
• Govts (works fine but is not extensively tested)
• Fleets (works fine but is not extensively tested)
• Junk (No brainer 🙂 )
• Disasters (works fine)
• Intro text (Should work fine, untested)
• Cargo Names (exhibiting strange behavious but isn't on my list of priorities!!)
• Missions (slower than i'd hoped, I'll see if I can speed it up later. Otherwise it works.)

Sorry it took so long to get that last release out, but the missions editor was a real B_@_!()_#.

As usual report any bugs please.

Oh I made the archive SELF EXTRACTING. So as long as you can decode the .hqx portion of the archive, you should be able to unstuff it even without the correct programs.

One more thing - this trial is limited to 10 days. This is because now that the mission editor is out, it's getting very close to completion of the whole program, and I don't want d-versions hanging around. In 10 days I'll have the next version running anyway.

My shareware plan is this - a dialog will be shown the FIRST TIME THE PROGRAM IS RUN, and then after 10 days as a shareware reminder. Every 5 days after that, the notice will come up. It won't have a timer, you can click the button to close it straight away if you want. This is a minimalist tactic - as I found out with The Docks, simply putting a notice in the read me file and in the About Box isn't enough, but I don't want to go so far in my pursuit of reimbursment that you lot can't be bothered using the software.Hence the half way solution. Registering will remove the guilt trip in the about box and remove the notice for good. Upgrades free, any version. It'll only be US$5.40/AUS$10 (at the current US-AUS exchange rate) and payment can be by check, postal or money order. Or cash of course, but who sends cash by mail!! Especially Air Mail!

Cheers!

Man, thanks for your efforts in making this editor!
It's well appreciated!

Arrrrrrr, matey!!!!

Get 0.7.1, everyone - it removes the time trial thingy since it's causing trouble and generally annoying me!!!

Now you can get on to some editing!!

Kane, I got the corrupted archive message after I downloaded it.

Can you fix it?

Ok this is my last ditch effort to get this DAMN PROGRAM online... I'll post it to the EV Addons page - the server at fortunecity doesn't seem to like me.

I (hopefully) fixed the program's trial time thing, that was a nasty little error.

And don't use the cargo names editor for the time being, it's playing up.

Latest version : 0.7.2d

And I've never had any problems with it, I downloaded the one from fortunecity yesterday, and it runs fine.

Hmm...

Well there were no major problems until version 0.7 came out, then I had a few problems with the time limit bit. Now it works within normal-enough parameters although it doesn't seem to count the number of program uses very well!!

It's a pity about all those errors because the mission editor actually works, and the time limit problem was keeping everyone from using it.

Version 0.7.3 hopefully will be available from the EV addons page soon, plus I finally managed to get through to fortunecity so it's there as well. To get the latest version:

members.fortunecity.com/shado83/EVOGod.sea.hqx

It's a self extracting archive, once you decode it from binary (.hqx) format, you should be able to run the self-extracting program.

And by the way, I fixed the cargo editor problem with deleting/adding/editing things.

Oh also, one last thing, the text file export feature doesn't actually do anything useful for some of the editors, the newer ones that is. That's only because I have had so much trouble with other things that I gave it a backseat. I'll get right back on it!!

Cheers! 🙂

GOD still freezes on me as soon as I try to start a new plug or open an old one. System 8.1. I guess I'm the only one having this problem. Too bad. Could I be doing something wrong?

Some users have reported random crashes, funnily enough the damn things never happen to me, so I don't know what's going on.

They seem to be different for each user.

I went through the code and actually used the compiled program to edit some plug ins, I loaded a 4.2mb plug no problems. I did find a lot of messy errors which have been corrected in version 0.7.4 (uploaded a few minutes ago).

Oh and for all those people I really p_____ off because they saved a mission that didn't save, here's what you have to do - as long as it was only one mission you made - go into ResEdit and change it's ID to something other than 0!! The PlugInHandler was writing mďsn resources to ID 0, but that's fixed. So you didn't lose all that work... or much of it anyway... sorry!

The flags work properly for Govts and Misns now. And external resources can now be used to load pictures in the outfits/weapons resources.

I'll upload 0.7.4 to the EV addons page.

Cheers!

Is there a chance you would consider emailing interested developers update notices? If you will consider it, I would be interested. My email address is (url="http://"mailto:mrmichaeldipperysir@hotmail.com")mailto:mrmichaeldipperysir@hotmail.com(/url)mrmichaeldipperysir@hotmail.com

I finally got it off the download page and I have one thing to say: It is better than I hoped! I always we could do better than ResEdit. I want you to know how much we appreciate your work.

Glad to be of service, ladies and gents. Oh by the way Phoenix I have started a mailing list of sorts for those who wish to be informed of latest updates, you were added to the list of course!

I'll get some time to do more work this weekend, I might get the syst/spob editors working, that will be a nasty piece of work but it should turn out all right.

Cheers!

could you add me to the mailing list?
