How about starting a large Plug-In/Graphic Design website maintained by all the major EV community models?
It would prolly include :
Betas of TC's or large conversions could be posted and messages asking fore beta-testers
A LARGE Free Graphix archive could be set up for Independent/Company Graphic Designers to post their work
An Archive of EV/O/N - based 3d objects
A large Texture Library (Not unlike MeowX)
The Latest EV/O/N devlopments

I'd certainly have some stuff to toss into something like that...

Interesting proposition, not sure how it would work though, more detail?

That's an interesting notion(have thought of it myself), but implementing it would be quite a leap of faith. Assuming you have other things to do, you would have to consider who would run and maintain such a complex site. And, if all these people(developers, I assume) are developing plugs, they probably wouldn't have time to do so anyway.
Because of the complexities of having "other" peoples graphics on there, it would have to be somehow regulated. Not to mention the fact that, because of Ambrosia's sites , many developers would probably not see the immediate benefit in switching to a new site for things that, for the most part, can be done right here in EVDC.
I'm not bashing the idea, I think it's a good one. But unless you have a handle on all those and other logistics, it may just end up becoming a white elephant. If sombody wants beta-testers/plugs, they can come here. If they want ships, they can go to the many sites that give 'em away. Want textures? Go to the texture depot. It really isn't that hard to click on a link, and I don't think people here are that lazy.
Most of what you've proposed is already done right here. And basically, if it ain't broke.....

heh, I tried it before, it takes much more effort than it seems...
Anyway, to create a true community website you need the following: Knowlage of web programming a host that lets you host dynamic content lots if time...
On the first I recomend learning PHP and SQL. On the second, try Freedom 2 Surf, (url="http://"http://www.freedom2surf.net/")http://www.freedom2surf.net/(/url) I cant help you with the third, though once the site is up it'll basically maintain itself.
Anyway, if you decide to go with the dynamic content method rather than the millions of HTML pages version, learn PHP and help my effort at (url="http://"http://sithweb.sourceforge.net/")http://sithweb.sourceforge.net/(/url)

Inignatius (BTW, has anyone heard from him (Ryan) lately?) when he was running Aeon tried something like that. I was going to put stuff in it and help, but whether because of the limitations of the website we were using or just the difficulty, it never really worked out. I wish you luck. If you get it going, let me know. Jude
never mind

You know that site Armada ? It Never took off..why? Not enough people contributed.....This will work if enough people contrbute.
I propose :
1.Get a free Webspace provider with unlimited space (Something Like Crosswinds but faster)
2.Put the FTP Upload password so people can upload their work to the moderating stage
3.The work would be "moderated" and fi it's thought it's satisfactory displayed on the free graphics page
There would then be a LARGE weboard devoted only to Developers
---------------------
I'd help moderate it and anyone else (here's looking at you johnathan) who wants to become a moderator.
There would also be guides to :creating plug-ins, creating graphix etc....
And...an EV directory (Not unlike EVula's)
So......who wants to help

Well, unlimited free space is hard to get.
I purpose getting a domain name (www.ev-dev.com or something) and either get your own server or get a good hosting service (Prohosting would be my pick, they offer unlimited space, although it is rather expensive).
Sure, I wouldn't mind moderating something, you know me
------------------ I bought a Venus Fly Trap today. I was going to name it "Republican", but the Fly Trap is benifical to the environment. I'll save that name, one day I might find a plant that eats poor people and minorities. I'd be willing to put it on my domain (www.negative-influence.co.uk) which at the moment is left empty. However, the site must be well designed and executed as it is under my name, and I must be on the site development and moderation team. Seeing as I'm already a sem-professional web developer it wouldn't be too much of a burden. The only problem is the URL, it doesn't have much to do with EV. I could put it in a sub domain such as (url="http://"http://www.negative-influence.co.uk/ev-dev")http://www.negative-...ce.co.uk/ev-dev(/url) and then have a CJB site (www.ev-dev.cjb.com) as the title page with a link to rest of the site on my domain. It's free, it's fast and it's already done.
Even if my domain isn't appropriate I'd still like to be on the team. Here's a summary of my CV:
Software
Hmm, hope it works out for you James, but how would it be moderated and updated?

Hmm, he is on AIM quite a lot, but I havent talked to him in a while. He is still officially the Aeon president, but Aeon seems to have died quite successfully in its sleep, which is a shame.
However, I have a preposition to make... I started an EV:O site about 6 months back, but neither have the time or the inclination to keep it going. It is at (url="http://"http://jonsevo.cjb.net")http://jonsevo.cjb.net(/url) and it was to be used as the basis for the Aeon EVO site, but as mentioned before, Aeon seems to be dead... Hence, anyone who wishes to take it over, then please get in contact with me, and I will give it to you
Oh, and I would personally recommend freedom2surf, they are excellent...

Hmm, I've got a lot further than you did but can't find enough space, maybe I can squeeze a few more megs out of my site.
Oh, something to add, back in the DiscBoard days when HH was mod, there was a plan afoot for the 'Ultimate EVO site' - I was on the team. Unfortunately, we got the framework going, and then it all fell over. Im not sure what that was. The server the message board was hosted on was taken down and we never heard anything again...
Unfortunately, I dont know where we were hosting the site, and I cant even remember who the original team was to ask...
Why don't you just ask HH?
He's usually on #ev

Image is good Necromicon and the website looks class, you're definetly on the team.
Johnathan if James (Wrynn) isn't pushing you to study you can help out.
If you could have a basic framework of a site done by tuesday Necromicon we might make a start on it straight away :
Negative Influence : The Escape Velocity Developers Site
