I agree.

I'm curious: why not use a flavor of slashcode to set up the sight. Though I haven't set up a slashcode site myself, it seems to work well and will allow for everything you're after. In addition, it appears to do a lot of the grunt work automagically.
Looks interesting. Depending on how far I manage to get in the various EV related projects (not plug-ins per se) I play with, I wouldn't mind writing a few articles (see game simplicity as an example, or visit (url="http://"http://www.hellskitchen.org/gdt")www.hellskitchen.org/gdt(/url) for other, non EV related writing examples.

This is going to sound VERY ammature of me, and I know I should already know this, bit what is Slashcode?

OK, got it, now how do I implement it into an HTML file? I know this is very ammature, but the best way to learn is ask questions.
Hmm, don't know that one.

As I said I haven't set up a slashcode site, but if you visit (url="http://"http://www.slashcode.org")www.slashcode.org(/url), there should be answers to all your questions. (url="http://"http://www.slashdot.org/code.shtml")http://www.slashdot.org/code.shtml(/url) has informative stuff, too. Alt, you can contact ghall@hellskitchen.org. He might have more specifics.

Yeah I've been there, but they only really tell you how to run the site once it's up. Micah is giving me some help though so hopefully...
So Nec, any progress, by the way my AIM isn't working so do you think you coulld give ICQ another shot or maybe IRC?
I'd be happy to sign on. Some things that you might want to know:
• Personal software preferences: - BBEdit 5.0 - Adobe Photoshop 5.5 - Macromedia Fireworks 2.0 - Macromedia Flash 4.0 - Adobe Illustrator 8
I've also got Adobe GoLive 4 and Macromedia Dreamweaver 2, but I dislike WYSIWYG editors.
•Applicable skills: - Use of all software applications listed above - Complete knowledge of HTML 4 - Complete knowledge (I think) of CSS-1 - Intermediate knowledge of Javascript - Intermediate knowledge of Perl 5
If you want an example of some of my web design work, (url="http://"http://micahsoft.tsx.org")http://micahsoft.tsx.org(/url) is the only example I've not removed for re-design. There's not a whole lot of unique stuff in the way of images, but I've found it to be satistfactory. I just haven't had time to re-design any other sites of mine.
Here're some things I can provide:
Assuming we settle on a hoster, (url="http://"http://amphibian.gagames.com/newspro/")http://amphibian.gagames.com/newspro/(/url) (Newspro) is a very nice news script. I can have that set up and runningassuming we've got Perl working, and either SSI or PHP enabled for this to work. I'd prefer SSI, but PHP might work.
If you want a web board like this one, I'd be happy to host it. I've been messing around with YaBB (http://www.mlanier.f...om/yabb/YaBB.pl) and I can configure it for our needs.
If we've got Perl and SSI, I can help integrate (adless) polls into our page if they'd be useful.
Finally, if you guys want a mailing list set up, I'd love to host one :).

Here's another quick idea. I think I can write a developer database that allows people to find someone to help them with a project. Does that sound good?
Micah my man, truly you are a god. Here's what I think we should do: •I design it •CelticStarbase and WhamMan! build it, with help from Micah for all the scripts and stuff. •Then when it's finished, we all moderate it. Sound good?

The only problem about the moderation thingy is that my boards can only be set to have 1 moderator. I do have an older version of UltraBoard though, and I can try to set that up. Maybe I'll just buy a good script.

How hard would it be to change that? I wouldn't want you spending any money (unless your rich :)) if al you would have to do is have a solid coding session. I wish I knew PERL so I could help. That'll be the next language I learn methinks. Whats UltraBoard like? Is that the freeware version of UBB?

Well, UltraBoard is basically a cheaper version of UBB. UltraBoard 2000 costs money, but I've got an older, free version that I can use. The problem with the multiple admin thing is that I've never worked with scripts this large (besides configuration). I'll take a look at some of the scripts and see if I can find a solution.
Note: Maybe I wasn't quite clear in my last message. I meant that individual boards can only have a single moderator. For the whole thing, you can have as many admins as you want.
