All sounds good kberg. In the current build (19 or 20), do you have the networking system worked out? I've got a 72 iMac LAN network to play around with, and I know quite a few people who will like to test this.
I'm glad to hear that you are considering releasing another build (soon?).
EV3....EV3...I hope you can provide some competition for it.

Heh, EV3 competition... Well, Matt's got the edge on us with transparency. Whereas EV3 has fully implemented alpha masks, I can only do the whole sprite (ie: cloaking ) 16 and 24 bit graphics, as well as the ability to create lighted thrusters, weapons (and a few other suprises that I think are even cooler) are already done.
Alas, I won't be able to release a public build for a while. Yes, networking has been worked out, though it has yet to be tested.

So...what did you think of my suggestion up there...?
Also, do you have hyperspacing worked out yet?

Has anyone played Terminus from Vicarious Visions yet? I like the way they handle hyperspacing (find a jump gate to your destination, activate a jump gate (could be a time delay to make pirating harder), and enter the jump gate to travel to a new system/server). It's quite a nice system for a masively-multiplayer game.
About Phoenix155's ideas, orbiting would be a totally awesome feature, and match speed was a feature much needed yet left out of EV/EVO. In the last PUBLIC build (which I would like to see updated quite a bit), there was something of a 5 pixel space where your ship would stick (Is that right?). I would much prefer a feature like the current autopilt to guide you into the right orbit, and also match speed. Or, while I'm thinking, match VELOCITY (for people who don't remember basic physics, velicty is combination of speed AND direction). That could take care of orbit and match speed with one easy feature.

Could somebody please email the latest build to me as the URL doesn't seem to work - none of them!!!
E
The URL's don't work because kberg closed his site. Sorry, I donlt have my build anymore, so I can;t email it to you.
Excuse me kberg, but do you have any idea when you can release another build? Are you at liberty to explain why you aren't "allowed" to release another build and could you tell us if you're working with a company or not? Thanks.
Another build... Hmmm... Maybe the end of this year?
Anyways, yes. I am working as part of a developement group now, hence why the code is no longer simply my own...
End of the year?!? Damn man, keep us hanging. If you can't ive us another build, at least post screenshots/read me!'s/concpt art for us to gawk at. Just like a 'normal' company/dev group would do. Please, we're dying here. Give us info!
Given what you currenty know, will the be released as shareware, freeare, have a montly charge for multiplayer, or is there no idea yet.

Gerb, what's your e-mail. I'll send it to you. It's not much though, since a certain, unnamed member who will remain anonymous, is devout to keep us from any knowledge of his project, shielded from public view (which is very, undevelopment-groupish of him).
Sorry for the harsh opinion (if this is harsh) certain unnamed member who will remain anonymous.
I don't think anyone will have to worry about any of the EVMP projects being in competition with EV3 or Terminus.
A) Terminus needs a DSL connection and a freakin' 450MHz G4 to run WELL. EV3 fights AI, 'EV'MP fights humans.

Soviet, Terminus runs beautifully on a Rev C/D iMac (333mHz G3 w/ ATI Rage Pro). You're right, DSL is needed. As competion goes, it can still be a contender 'EV' market of games. It will never be on the level of Terminus, graphics-wise, but it's gameplay COULD be far exceding if it is designed well, which I think it has been.

I agree. Terminus is a great game, with both graphics and gameplay, but if this new game based upon the EV universe has even better gameplay, it can still turn out to be a better game, despite it's graphic limitations.

Kberg, we need info man i keep reading this post and playing build 12, but i need more, are you going to set a web site up?? And are you giong to have a facility in your game which allows turrets/guns to fire from x and y co-ords??
come on man your project is a drug, and i'm addicted!

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
I don't know if anyone has already said it, but I have a feature idea. You could buy a fighter bay and fighter that could be used as an alternate escape pod, except that it could fly freely and attack. So, if the ship that attacked you was damaged a lot in battle, you could use the fighter (which you controlled) to destroy them. Or, you could damage them or whatever or jump out of the system, or both.

Even though I don't expect a new build, or a reply on this topic anytime soon, this is the only known way to contact you, so....here's some more feature requests:
In another post, you mentioned the posibility of having outfitied items apear/disapear, when bought or sold, on the outside of the ship. It involved transparecies, I know. Will you have something of the same sort in your project, and more importantly, will you have transparecies on the ships?

It's already been implemented. There are still a few things to clean up though... FWIW I am working on d20 now.
Are you going to use the idea I got, kberg?
Good to hear that your making steady progress. (Transparencies....heh heh heh....EV3 competition)
Can we see the current list of new/implimented features posted in this topic, or is that beyond your rights as well? Just posting a copy of the new Read Me! would do fine as well.

There will be ways to do similar things in the game...

Hey, that was my idea! THanks for using it! I hope it works well!
