Problem with Primary Guided Weapons

I am making a plug and was trying out some alternative Primary Weapons. One of them is a high-fire-rate (Reload 7, max 4 guns) guided projectile (Guidance 1). It produces a great effect, but the AI ships won't use it. I've tried making it secondary, but that doesn't help either.

Are you using EVO? If so, make the guidance 2...in EVO there's only 2, and 1 supposedly does nothing or something... Anyway, try guidance 2 if you're using EVO. If you're using EV, I have no idea why they don't.

Ship AIs use the weapons that do the most damage and/or are easier to hit with; I don't know which takes priority.

By the way, in EVO, guidance 1 is supposed to be disabled, but I thought I noticed the Hunter missiles to have that guidance. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Is this a missile weapon, or a "guided cannon"? What I mean is, does it have limited ammo or is it ammoless? I think I found out once that the AIs think that any guided weapon has limited ammo, so if it doesn't use ammo, they think it doesn't have any, and so they don't use it. Does that make any sense?

I have the solution: Give all ships with that weapon some ammo and they'll use it.Though the weapon itself is ammoless the AIs won't us it unless they've got some ammo.

That reminds me of the "Gnat Gun" from an old, un-published plug-in of mine...

My gatling gun was similar. It was originally a primary weapon but I decided I wanted to see the ammo counter go down like a real gat gun. So it's a sec weapon, with 10000 ammo. It looks cool once you get the bastard going...
