UE Cloak

Is there a plug that lets you keep the UE Cloak when you change ships, but does nothing else? I want a plug that will do that while being sure it won't cause conflicts. I used to use EVO Fixer, but that conflicts with Reign of the UE, which I want to try.

Thanks.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm using the original EVO, not the nova conversion.

Beats me... I really don't know. But I do know that the Cloak isn't really such a good weapon unless you're in a ship (like a fighter) that needs a break to regenerate armor. I gave up my cloak for a Crescent Warship ant I don't regret it one bit.

I'm pretty sure there is one somewhere - you might just have to look. Otherwise it is a very easy thing to change in ResEdit for yourself ... just requiring the Flags setting for the outfit to be changed I think. I would happily make one but I'm running OS X with no classic :).

A quick look at the plugins page, sorting by size, reveals only this, which says it makes it so you can buy the cloak for 1M credits in UE space ... not ideal, but another option I guess.

(url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/cloak.sea?path=evo/cheats&file;=cloak.sea")Cloak plugin(/url).

Once you get the cloak you get the "destroy the Dreadnought" mission. But unless you are in you final ship don't do this mission. Cancel it. Then when you upgrade to your next ship you have the option of going back to Earth and reaccepting the mission and another cloak.

Why are there no maroon ships?

Yeah that's one way I used to do it. There are a lot of other strings you can do to get the money, which is one really nice thing about EVO, as compared to Nova especially!

In fact, I think you can accept the mission and just leave it active - then you have the cloak on your current ship, and when you upgrade, you can abort it and then go and get it again ... so you'll have it on both ships in effect :).

It is a bit of a shame the way they made it - I mean the device has a special key assigned to its activation, but in practice the chances of using it are pretty small. It certainly isn't necessary for the mission that gives it to you - just run! I found it very helpful in the Crew of One challenge when running away from fleets of Kraits / Crescent Fighters in missions - run, cloak, uncloak, take some shots, repeat :).

The cloak comes in handy if you have a really large, slow ship, and you need to sneak into enemy territory and land, or to capture enemy ships without being attacked first. You can just sit there and wait until just the right time....

But other than that, it really zaps your shields. Or is it fuel? I forget.

Something pithy.

the cloak put your shields to 0 and drain your fuel, but it can be slowed down by having 2 fuel scoops and extra fuel tanks

Just as a sidenote though, the cloak drains your shield but they start recharging immediately. That is why you can cloak and if you ship has a quick recharge rate you can uncloak with 100% shields.

 What? I've drifted around for hours and the shields don't recharge. Or maybe the gods up at Ambrosia fixed that in a later version...
