In EVO, both me and my friend, running Basilisk II, experienced a weird graphical glitch...
Most big ships (Freighter, Miranu Freighters, Voinian Cruiser, those big ships) have their mask looking 'torn' when they are facing a certain direction..
There's these small holes from where you can see the background..
It's no biggie, but any way you can fix it?
------------------ It's funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's hilarious.
Sounds like the spins are corrupted. The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head is to download a fresh copy of EVO.

Hmm.. I think I have the newest one...
It's from this link: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=evo/essentials&file;=EVOverride.bin")http://www.ambrosias...=EVOverride.bin(/url)
So it should be the newest one..
It looks like the ship's mask in that certain direction is messed with a Blaze fire's mask.. the whole Blaze mask (all 36 sprites) is about the same size as 1 freighter sprite..
Hey, its the same effect I have been having too! I have just not bothered about it, I have ignored it.

It gets even worse when MAGMA is used. I doubt we all have corrupted files... but we're all using Basilisk aren't we?

Hmm, then I guess it's an emulation issue. Sorry.
Yes, it's an emulation issue, as far as I can tell. Sprites larger than 80x80 or so have this happen to them in EVO (but only in EVO -- not EV or EVN), when you're running it in Basilisk II.

Augh! Augh! Why must we get this punishment for using a emulator? :frown: And why doesnt it happen in EV or EVN?
It's not bad, unless you're flying that big ship yourself :frown:

Its not that bad, but it still can look disturbing. I have seen Freighters getting the same effect
Yeah, I have that problem too. In TWO emulators :p. The Dreadnaught looks especially awful. I think it's a weird bug relating to the decoding of compressed PICTs.(PackBitsRect, for you technical people). I wrote a non-QuickDraw PICT decoder that had nearly the same problem before I got PackBitsRect to work properly. But PICT decoding is a System/ROM function, not something that would be written into the emulator. ???

Two emulator have the same bug? Its really bad then. I havent seen the Dreadnought yet. And no, dont ask me the reason of the bug. Its amazing you actually knew it.
Edit- I passed the 2000 post mark without noticing. Now that I did, its time for a late celebration. 2000 th post! This is another milestone (previous was 1000 th post), and a really major one. It proves I have been a extraordinarily active member and im finally approaching the highest post counts of them all. ------------------ I am eager to try to ansver mission questions

They really should make you a Moderator
2004 posts...
Heh. I gotta post more to get 200 posts myself too!
Anyways, back on topic, no way to fix it?

Im honored, but moderators are selected based on behavrior, not post count. That is because I post a dozen (or more messages) every day. Im so bored because I dont have much to do on days. I try to go to the library, but even that is tiring if I do it too often. If you like a lot of posts too, go for it. There is no solution, it is a problem that only happens on emulators. Unless Vaumnou wants to make his non-QuickDraw PICT decoder a program you can use...
