Before anyone yells at me, I did a search feature and couldn't find the answer I wanted. Anyway I completed the mission to go to an unihabited planet near Voinian space and rescue a scoutship crew member. When I returned to Earth I was told that I could buy the UE warships now, and that I would probably need more firepower on the next mission. I thought he said to meet him in the bar on Earth. I bought a UE destroyer and proceeded to go to the bar, but I didn't see the guy. How do I get this next mission again? Did it not work because I bought another ship before I went to the bar? I would appreciate any help please.
No, buying another ship should not have caused any problems. There are only 2 things that I think it could be. The first and most probable is you rating (Ultimate, Noteworthy..ect) could be affecting whether or not you get the mission. Just go kill some Voinian ships and then come back to Earth and go to the bar. Second, it could be that sometimes missions get a bit buggy. If there is anything in your mission section (hit "I") that you can abort, do it. Then try to get the mission again. That is all I would know to do given the information you presented.

It could be your legal status, but most likely it is your combat rating.

My legal status is good...something like Good Egg I believe. It indeed could be my combat rating, I am only at Dangerous I think. I will let my missiles and turrets feast on some Voinians and Renegades and see if that helps. Thanks.

The mission after rescuing UE Scoutship is Observe Research Base, where you see Dreagnought as prototype. Funky... it should be avaible immediately after youve done UE Scoutship mission. This was gotten from Shayborgs EVO site, the EVula of EVO missions ;).
Edit- try aborting the mission? ------------------ I am eager to try to ansver mission questions

Hmm it is very strange - that mission should have come immediately! And you shouldn't need better than a Dangerously Good Egg to get it. I suppose the most likely precluder is the legal status though - try to push it up to Upstanding Citizen and then go back. But you should really get a nicer ship before you get that mission, and the cloaking device.
I mean the Destroyer is reasonably powerful, but really bulky, with 3-day hyperjumps. This will make many later missions tight or impossible - and although the cloaking device is hard to use effectively, you might as well have it with you as long as possible to up the chances :).

The ever-useful Shayborgs site gives some corretions: you need Dangerous Good to get Destroy Voinian Dreadnought mission. Altough strange, he shouldn't the Rescue Scoutship Crew mission before he has a Upstanding Citizen rating..

Was that he shouldn't -get- that mission before...? That's a really weird one to hear! I mean it's only the second mission on the main UE string - if that is supposed to be the case, I'm pretty sure it's not. Man it's been too long since I've played EVO - gonna have to have another go on my emulator soon :).
Mind you, it never seemed to take a lot to get upstanding to the UE.. just anything above Role Model was nigh impossible - I once got Pillar of Society in an Azdgari system using the 'keep kill renegade mission active' trick. Funny how everyone in the galaxy dislikes the UE renegades :).
One quick question for jwhite82 which may shed a little (very little) light. What version of EVO are you using. 1.0.0, 1.0.1 or 1.0.2? I don't have the resource files for the earlier two any more but I do seem to remember subtley differing requirements.
------------------ Non est ad astra mollis e terris via.
I can't think of anything other than version problems ...
The (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/missionsuemil.html#161")Rescue Scoutship Crew mission(/url) (at least in EVO 1.0.2) requires an Upstanding Citizen legal record and a Competent combat rating. But once you've gotten that, the (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/missionsuemil3.html#183")Observe Voinian Research Base(/url) mission should be available immediately in the Earth bar; it does not require any combat rating or legal record whatsoever. It only requires that you've completed the Rescue Scoutship Crew mission.
Buying a new ship shouldn't have affected anything. I really don't know what your problem could be ... I'm sure you're smart enough to not have done this, but check to make sure you haven't already accepted the mission accidentally or something. In any case, good luck, and sorry I couldn't be more helpful ...

Shayborg, when are you going to update your missions? I love them, but I want something than UE too. They haven't been updated since April 10. hint, hint

I talked to ShayBorg and he said he will update them sometime in January. His exams ends Dec. 17, then he will be out of town for a few weeks. He will post the missions when he come back.

Great! I thought he had forgot them. In the web, 8 months is forgetting.
