Wave of Destruction - Ch. 16-22

Voinia
while the Acarra attacked the Coalition the Gyn'that where pretty much free to do as they please so they went after stray ships taking out a few frigates and fighters.
and yet another wave jumped into the system then disapearing. the Coalition focused still on the Command ships pownding the invincable with heavy fire knocking it down to 60% shields. but the Amun Shiva had taken more damage, down to 20%. 5 sharks felt they could do more damage by ramming the Acarra so they hypered into a paladin causing heavy damage nearly destroying it. gunships and fighters still swarming the Paladins were doing their job and well at that. 20 SFs hyper in and into Acarra ships. 2 hit a starcruiser 3 hit a pair of frigates and the rest went into the invincable. the few Acarra fighters that went near Voinia were soon debrie. the entire reenfocement fleet just apeared behind paladins destroying one then disapearing again. this continued till all the paladins were no more.

---
Sol
"well lets make use of ships that were thought to be useless shall we?"
"good idea"
about 830 old UE ships left Earth.
150 cruisers, 300 carriers, 350 destroyers, 30 fighters.
the Acarra were swarmed and having never faced these ships were un sure on how to defeat them. the destroyers and fighters did what the did best, were ganging up on single ships at once caused great damage to paladins.
the Carriers and Cruisers went for the frigates and fighters doing well but nowhere near as well as warcruisers would. then some 200 Voinian ships came in and joined their speed group. some old Dreadnoughts were present puting some fear into Acarra fighter pilots seeing what the new ones did few fighters went after them.
a lone old dreadnought left Earth and set corse for the Command ship and hypered into it engulfing it in Antimatter doing massive damage(down to 40%).

Still looking in on this...whoever wants (ESPilot, Benden, UEA) can control what's left of the Jama fleets for reinforcements. Just post that you hired them or something. Mamajama's second, Harmon, is in command. Aabout 70 CWs equipped with the Angelfire point defense system and 20 Mechs w slug claws. The one Dragon Benden gave Mamajama. Plus, Grundy donated 100 Coalition warships with heavy fighters. Most of them are still based at Zachit or Poch. Go for it...

Insanity has its advantages

(This message has been edited by U.E. Admiral (edited 05-08-2002).)

OOC: Within the vicinity of 650 ships. Also, stations are litterally pumping out ships straight towards the battle. And how big are Enforcer Frigates? Oh, one more thing: How could the crew have time to enter a slipstream if they're being incinerated? A Hyperspace Carrier is one of the largest ships next to Dreadnoughts and your Command Ships.

"Commander, what's that?" "What's what?" "That thing on the sensors, out on the edge of the battle." "Hey, isn't that one of those Attar things that turned out to be Acarra?" "Don't charge straight at it; it's too maneuverable. Just fire some anti-matter missiles at it from here."

Lhevak was very, very surprised when an anti-matter warhead suddenly appeared inside his small ship.

Epsilot grimaced as three of his Carriers were destroyed. "All Trebuchets, enter subspace." The remaining seven Trebuchets did so, and continued to fire missiles from subspace, which were doing severe damage to the Acarra fleets, as the attacking ships couldn't be attacked back. The Paladin Battlefrigates were gradually losing numbers; they were far fewer than Zidagra Frigates, and when cornered were quickly decimated. "All ships using missiles, aim for enemy frigates' engine sections!" Kalej said. With anti-matter missiles popping right into engines, the Paladins' forward-firing Vacar lances were becoming obsolete.

Suddenly, a fleet of seventy upgraded Crescent Warships, under the command of Harmond, entered the Zidagar system and began pounding away with Angelfire turrets and PD systems.

----------------------------------------------------
Paul sent a message to the mercenary houses of Poch, requesting their help in the fight against the Accara. He promised them large amounts of gems and metals in exchange for their services(I got replicators, why not use 'em to make valuable things?). They were a little reluctant at first to accept such a odd payment, but soon realized that they might be next if the Miranu were defeated at Mirava. They sent all of but a few of their ships to help. The Foster's Revenge did not join the battle, as it was being used for a memorial service for the sacrifice of mamajama and her fellow mercenaries.

The warships soon hyperspaced in and joined the fray of the battle. The sight of the new forces helped boost the spirits of the battle-weary Miranu. Back-up was called in from surrounding systems, adding in another 100 warships. THis left several planets virtually defenseless, but instantly gave the Miranu a much needed edge against the Accaran forces. This boost of 270 warships was just what the doctor ordered. The Miranu forces soon formed wolfpacks, going forth and taking out lone Accara ships and having several wolfpacks band together and to take out large groups. The Miranu forces fired off their missiles and turrets, and soon had the Accara where they wanted them. Instead of replicating MVAG's for the last bit of time, they had been replicating SW's. Coming forth from beneath the defense grids shields. The shields were installed, but the planet based weapons were still being made and installed.

This new addition to the fleet made a very large effect. The when a ship was targeted by an SW, all the ships around it would simply pull off or make a micro jump away from it. While the ships were pulling away, the SW would make a micro jump straight at the ship if into the ship. Most of the time, an SW would hyper out a few meters from the shields and let loose a large barrage of firepower, often overloading all its weapons capacitors before hitting the ship. The Accara were outmatched, and soon, only a few of the ships remained. The Miranu charged again, with weapons blazing...

Suddenly, the Shamtul in Sol began to fight better than anyone expected.. without a word, they opened fire that no one could have predicted, with 60 Ghaloks, with full escort, dealing damage onto the Acarra front lines.

-------------

In Sol, a fleet of about 350 Azdgari ships jumps in.. about half warships

------------------
"And as the Darkness descends, do you follow the light, or embrace the darkness?"
~Diane Kinsman
(little known philosopher, early 21st century)

MOD: And how the heck do Azdgari warships appear from nowhere? That's insane, Red. And ESPilot, there are at least two-hundred scoutships flying around the perimeter. Lhevak's wouldn't have been noticed. Consider that revoked as well. And its the Navair Lance that is forward firing; the Vacar Lance is a turreted weapon (also fitted on the Paladin) which has better range than your flash turrets and is quite powerful.

UE Admiral; the Acarra would not be confused just because they never saw them. They'd just blast them away, rather easily too. And where the heck do you get all these bloody ships? They SHOULD have all been scrapped. I'll allow the UE ones, but not the Voinians.

--------------------

Battle of Zidagar

The Acarra continued to loose ships at a devastating rate, and Lhevak was forced to leave himself, worrying about being attacked. The Zidagar had lost well over half of all the ships they had sent into the battle, and the fight continued to rage.

Meanwhile, the two hundred and fifty Acarra Scoutships that had previously been flying around watching the battle now turned into powerful suicide bombs. All of them rammed enemy ships after going into slipstream, taking out a hundred enemy ships and damaging a hundred more. Three scoutships rammed the planet Zidagar, and six others rammed Tumni. This had caused extreme damage to certain areas of the planet, causing red-hot craters a kilometer wide, and sending out shockwaves that caused even more damage.

The battle began to slow, with both sides now lacking many ships to fight. The Acarra, slowly but surely, were completely wiped out. Only Lhevak escaped to Acarra territory. The Zidagar, of the 600 or so ships that they had sent into the battle, now had only 75 left. It had been a bloody victory.

--------------------

Battle of Sol

The Acarra continued to fight on, determined to win. The Coalition ships were suffering incredible losses, and the old Earth ships were simply wiped out by the far superior Acarra ships. Three Paladin Battlegroups took out well over 200 of them.

The Shamtul ships, which had appeared out of nowhere, were also hit hard. They also now suffered as Thrade employed another tactic which had destroyed a hundred ships in the Battle of Zidagar; scout-ramming. Swarms of scoutships were launched and proceeded to ram enemy ships, especially the resistent Shamtul. Many Shamtul, Coalition, and old UE ships were lost in this vengeanful strike as the Acarra rampaged on.

The Coalition had lost over half their fleet in Sol rather quickly, and the remaining ships were quickly being hunted down and wiped out. The Acarra had struck with such vengeance and fury that the Coalition was simply being overwhelmed. Already a hundred ships had been lost to suicide scoutships, and they simply had no counter for the Paladin Battlefrigate.

Losses continued to pile up unceasingly, the Acarra constantly charging the enemy again and again. Soon, only a third of the fleet was left, then only a quarter. This battle was looking more and more bleak...

--------------------

Battle of Voinia

The battle of Voinia was not an easy battle for the Coalition either. With Ravaers reinforcements, they were rapidly outgunned and outnumbered, and even now as Coalition ships streamed into the system, they were loosing ships far quicker than they were gaining them. Acarra troops were also landing thousands of warriors on the surface which began to flatten everything and anything that they saw. Voinia was rapidly being turned into a blasted out planet as the Acarra marched on.

Scoutships were ordered to ram enemy vessels, with this tactic taking out another 75 ships. The Acarra charged the Coalition fleet continually, their numbers not much lower than the Coalition's.

--------------------

Battle of Mirava

The last Acarra ships, as well as the 90 or so scoutships that remained, were now ordered by the lead ship to simply ram the Miranu, causing as much damage as possible. The Acarra did this immediately; ramming what Miranu ships remained. All Legion Transports also rammed the Miranu, all of them going at slipstream to cause maximum damage.

The Miranu, now victorious over the fleet, had lost well over half of their fleet. In fact, only about 15-20% of the original attack force remained intact. Not a single Acarra ship was captured.

OOC: Benden, I have the Poch ships. Or did. That's how I had 70 CWs come in as reinforcements. And Carno, how big are those scoutships of yours?

"Admiral Espilot, sir, the Acarra have been driven away." The admiral sighed, "Finally. What's the report on losses?" "Over five-hundred ships lost, sir. Wait, sir, a group of Zidaras has picked up something—It's a disabled Acarra ship; one of the ones that went after our anti-matter freighter." "Capture it! Send some mechs on board immediately!"

Twenty-five mechs, equipped with slug claw ammo, flash cannons and slug claw plating, hyperspaced into the lone Enforcer Frigate. "Orders 'r to kill anythin' movin'. Yew all know what to do." "Yes sir, major!" came the reply. The mechs stomped through the corridors in five groups of five. "Sir! There's some Acarra with some sort of firearms over here!" "Attack!"

The cluster of Acarra warriors were sliced apart by the high-velocity slug claws. One of them managed to fire a few shots at a mech, but the EM energy of the pulses was dissapated against the slug claw material.

Similar things went on throughout the ship, until every last Acarra was rooted out and killed. One Acarra had actually seized control of a mech pilot's mind and made him attack his fellow soldiers, but the Acarra was quickly killed and the pilot released. A group of Zidaras towed it back to Tumni, where it was immediately swarmed by scientists and researchers like maggots on a fresh carcass.

Espilot sat in a conference room with Kennel. "I've had an interesting idea for some time now, for a weapon that could likely replace Phased Beamers." "Replace them? It must be damn good. But then, you are the great Admiral Espilot." Kennel said jokingly. "The new anti-matter reactors use the chain reaction of matter and anti-matter to create a massive amount of energy, right?" "Yes." "What if we could turn that energy into a weapon?" "I see where you're going. It would be quite devastating, and I'm sure even smaller, single-reactor ships could be fitted with an anti-matter reactor with our mass reduction techniques. We'll start working on it, but we also have to devote a good number of scientists to figuring out that Acarra vessel..."

the next reenforcement fleet came in and joined up with the others and disapeared. the Cloaks made a big difference in the battle makeing the battle go better for the Coalition but not all the ships had cloaks. the Coalition ships that had cloaks formed huge wolf packs and charged the enemy from behind cloaked. they came up behind Starcruisers now riping them apart one by one. 5 were lost in this manner so far. the Battleships, Aegis, and MVAGs joined up and unleashed their photons at the weakened Command ship Amun Shiva and destroyed it. the question is, was that the Command ship that had a Gyn'thar controler?

the battle was being lost but knowing that Azdgari ships were on their way gave all that fought for the Coalition new hopes. unknown to the Acarra a Dreadnought was missing from the new fleet going into Voinia. that ship now filled with anti matter hypered in and into the Command ship destroying it and a few ships beside it. still it was not a looking good for the Coalition at Earth. without the Command ship the Acarra had less fire power but one ship made no difference in this battle.

Insanity has its advantages

As the Acarra began to get the upper hand, they suddenly we shocked by the latest scan... not scared, but intrigued more than anything. In the midst of dying shamtul, there was a new being, previously surrounded by Ghaloks, and unreadable due to the strong EMP waves eminating from it.. It was the latest creation, the first developed strictly in the Milky way. Yes, it was the Tu Mikh. The largest, most powerful acarra being ever. Covered in ridges to funnel the EMP waves into a form of dense shielding, it Silently slid towards to main Acarra base... Spitting out already-cocooned Shamtul (most evolving into large Ghaloks or becomming something similiar to a drone, hatching nearly a dozen Glavir worms which Storm and ram a target), it began to warm up it's main weapon- an extremely massive EMP Blast Conductor, and as the Acarra began to notice the Signatures and engage the ship, the Being fired it's weapon at a nearby Acarra Wolf...
Although it had already taken some damage, it's shields were around 80%...
And in the Blink of an eye, a Beam of extremely focused EMP Energy Soared towards the ship, elgulfing it in light, and sending out EMP shockwaves across nearly half the Acarra fleet. When the Light dissipated, the Wolf was still there, it's hull intact, but The acarra would find it a worthless derelict.. All shields, electronics and life support had been wiped out. After the Initial impact, it was hit by dozens of adreneline-upgraded Glavir worms, easily pounding it's hull into nothingness.

As The Acarra were in shock for a moment, the battle seemed to stop as every single race present feared and respected the Shamtul. Although primitive, they had just produced a massive ship, nearly on par with an Azdgari Supercruiser, but with a weapon... a weapon strong enough to deal damage and fear into the heart of every warrior present. As the Battle was restarted, the Ship began to show it's only drawback.. Slow reload time on the primary, and even the Glavir worms were not as powerful as hoped, yet it's shields held.

Insanity has its advantages

As the broken and scattered forces that had been the Miranu Defense Forces just mere hours before converged on the stations orbiting Mira, the still combat capable ships that the Poch Mercenaries had sent gaurded the badly damaged Miranu fleet. A representative was from each ship to collect their bounty, and were all were satisfied. As Paul watched the formation of the gems and crystals in the replicators, a thought occured to him. The Accara used beam weapons that were purely psionic energy. He remembered an intel report a while back saying something about "Gadzair Psi Energy Focusing Crystals". He started thinking to himself, "If a hull could be covered in Psi Energy De-Focusing Crystals, they would be impervious to beam weapons. But what about when they just start using torpedoes on the armour and lances on the shields? One would have to have an advanced shielding system that would know what was being fired at it, where to focus shields to stop torpedoes, where to open a hole to let a lance through and disapapte its energy. It was feasible, but it would work. However, this would be pretty useless agains't races of the Cescent, as they used energy based weapons." Paul consulted several scientists about this, and they agreed that it would be feasible, but would take a while. Enough sensor longs had been taken to show how the lances operated(to a limited degree) and how to counteract them with a specifically(asnd synthetically) spun gem. Work was begun immediately.

The planetary defense grid was done, and all planets were being fitted with them. Installation and manufacturing contracts were sold to various companies, removing the strain of building them from the government. The Accaran ground troops were easily outnumbered and defeated when Mechs and CW's began to assault them. None surrendered. Many of their weapons were found, and were sent to a miltiary base at an undisclosed location for safekeeping. Factory ships were being produced, and they were relatively simple to create. Most of the parts were simply replicated and then molecularly bonded together. To replace the loss of the Aurgelmir , work on two new BattleCarriers was beginning. They would have expanded command facilities and better shielding. With all of the replicators that had been made, it would take little time. They would include the Crystaline Armour/Modulating Shield Defense System.

OOC: UE Admiral, there's only a last few Gyn'thar ships in Voinia, and they belonged to Tronos' fleet. Destroying the Amun Shiva wouldn't do anything because that's part of Ravaer's fleet, and Ravaer didn't have any Gyn'thar. 😛

Btw, who controls Azdgari?

Benden; don't expect to be able to use any of those rifles anytime soon, and would you mind explaining that new shield thingy you're researching?

UE Admiral; another thing, I don't care if you do have replicators, you can't produce 120 MVAGs each post. Sorry, but no way. Same for everybody.

---------------------

Battle of Voinia

Though the the Amun Shiva had been destroyed, the Acarra fought on, now merely prolonging the battle. Their numbers continued to dwindle, and still they fought. They had to fight. If Thrade was going to win in Sol, they had to keep on fighting.

The Coalition, too, was loosing ships at a horrendous rate. They were only barely managing to keep an advantage over the Acarra as they numbers plummeted. Ships exploded left and right as the Acarra unceasingly pounded the enemy into dust.

---------------------

Battle of Sol

The Battle of Sol, however, was going extremely well for the Acarra. The Shamtul continued to loose dozens of ships, and soon only the Tu Mikh was left. The Coalition continued to suffer extreme losses, and as the last of the UE ships were destroyed, the huge Elysium began to plow through their lines. It had been rammed by the Coalition and was about to explode, but they had foolishly attacked it as it was charging the Coalition. It finally exploded in the midst of the enemy lines, taking down and damaging many more ships.

At last, the last of the Coalition ships were blasted into nothingness, troops began to land on Earth and Luna, and the Acarra began to concentrate on the Tu Mikh. They began to pour prodigious (sp?) amounts of firepower into its hulk, dozens of StarFlare Missiles, WarpDisruptor Torpedoes, and Hyperfield Torpedoes. Thousands of psi pulses and energy lances blasted into it. Many fighters simply rammed it, setting off huge explosions. Two Wraiths actually slipstreamed into it. The Tu Mikh was quickly weakening...

OOC: well bendon was making MVAGs at 100 per post and while he my have replicaters he does not have the theing that SilverDragon made in the begining that lowers build time for the Coalition thus i should be able to make more 😛 . and RED has the Azdgari. and you cant just land the transports on earth and luna like that. they have planetary shields and weapons. ground based beams and spurs and photons. none of which are weak enough to take out in one post. besides, you have company.
---
Sol
20 MVAGs lift from Earth as 30 more from Luna. they first blast away the transports that are landing. then they move on a kind of hit and run tatic being reasonably effective but 50 MVAGs are not enough to defend alone however thay are fast enough to make some time. 30 more MVAGs along with a standard re-fleet jump in. photons fly here and there most at the Starcruisers. all the gunships hyper into the Command ship guns blazing and being sure to gat all their torps out befor impact. the heavy ramming did massive damage to the last Command ship. the Battleship was it optimum range fireing photons at the paladins taking out 3 at long range. the dreadnought was busy defending the battleship from fighters and with the help of the battleships weapons was doing well.
---

30 Aegis jump in cloaked thus unnoticed. they all form a pack and get at long range. they all fire in unison taking out the last Command ship in the system with a few vollys. now they target starcruisers (as all the paladins were gone). 5 starcruisers drop and not yet a single loss of a new Aegis. many Acarra ships form up and go investigate the photon torps seemingly apearing out of nowhere knowing that there was cloaked Coalition ships. the group of frigates came within range of spurs and photons and then see a massive ball of torps and missles comming at them. the first volly take out 2 of the frigates and the Coalition ships not being stupid move to a different place and clear out the fighters in the area resuming the vollys of weapons at the group of frigates.
OOC: befor you revoke my group of Aegis take a look at how many posts its been since i sent some into battle. its been 6 posts including this one and i build 5 per post. 6x5=30. and befor you revoke the destruction of so many ships you must remember that now my ships can fire while cloaked.

Those Vacar lances sound kinda cheap, but my new anti-matter beams are very powerful and have good range, anyway. 😛

One more thing that I've tried to be quiet about, but has been becoming increasingly annoying: THE ADMIRAL'S NAME HAS ONLY ONE CAPITOL LETTER.

Salvage crews had been running around all throughout the system, bringing in disabled ships and debris to be scrapped and used for spare parts. Zidagar shipyards were now working overtime to refill the navy.

"What the bleeding hell is that?" "I dunno. Must be another one o' them Acarra things." "Well then, let's bring it in."

The recovery ship hauled the vessel into a docking bay, wherein Espilot, Kalej and Kennel were waiting. It's portside wing and engine section had been obliterated, but other than that it held together. "You say you found this along with the remains of some Zidagras?" the admiral asked. "Yes sirree. Mighty fine lookin' craft she is, though I've no intention of keepin' here myself." "Of course not! We need it for research!" Kennel said. "Say, admiral, isn't this one of those newer vessels? Those frigates that were giving us such a hard time?" "Yes, but that probably doesn't matter. Everything that might be of use to us is psi-powered, so we can't do anything with it. But, do what you want with it. I'm sure you scientists love the idea of some new toys to fiddle with."

At the head R&D; facility, some tests were being run on the ship. "What the..?" As the armor of the vessel was scanned, the neutron readings suddenly went off the chart. "Neutron armor? No wonder they regenerated so fast...Have to look into this..."

With the tested success of slug-claw material dissipating and to some degree reflecting psionic EM waves, Zidagar hulls were being made with thick layers of it.

OOC:The Crystaline Armour/Shield Modulation Defense System Works on a principle of letting certain weapons hit certain parts of a ship. Tha Gadzair used Pis focusing crystals, but this system will have a replicated hull made of psi de focusing crystals. The shields will be able to be refocused, so that beams will pass through small holes in them and dissapate in the armour, and torpedoes and non-psi weapons will hit them. The Accaran Psi Rifles that I put into storage are just there until such time as they might become useful in some way. They are of no use now, unless they contain psi focusing crystals. I was producing MVAG's so quickly because I was burning through several anti-matter reactors per post. And some of thos ships were being made in shipyards, too. So, unless you want to have a chance that Carno has some fun and targets some unshielded anti-matter reactors of yours, make fewer(you have not posted that your CSR's have any kind of defense. If they use anti-matter reactors for energy, then they will destroy your planet when fired on).

OOC: Do you mean my anti-matter reactors? 'Cuz they're all in the ships. Although, any anti-matter reactors I have on planets would be subterrainian.

Espilot, with the battle over and several projects now being researched, was leafing through various events that took place while he was with Seraine and Mamajama. "Miranu fleet asks for Admiral Espilot, but Espilot can't come. Vice Admiral officers to take Espilot's place, but Miranu fleet leaves?" The Zidagar and Miranu had, for as long as even Espilot could remember, had trade relations, and more recently, loose military ties. With the Acarra still buzzing around, any ally could be useful.

Greetings, Benden. I have heard of your attempt to reach me, and I apologize for my absence, but I was conducting some delicate Psi research with the House of Poch mercenaries. As you know, our people have been allies for as long as anyone can remember, but I believe that the current situation calls for naval, as well as economic alliance. Although it seems that the threat of the Acarra is eliminated, the general commanding them at the battle of Zidagar escaped. A worm may grow back as many times as need be, as long as the head survives. So, what do you think about arranging a meeting?

—Espilot

P.S. I do not trust these Shamtul. I have herded them out of Zidagar territory, and I encourage you to do the same.
