I'm not quite sure whether to post this in the EVO or EVN board so I'll post it here and let the Mods do what they wish with it. Anyway, are there any plans to make a EVO TC plug for EVN? I know someone did it with EVC->EVN. T'would be quite cool; EVO with the EVN engine updates would be an awesome game. EVO just runs too slow compared with EVN to be very enjoyable anymore. Hyperspace jumps seem to take FOREVER and the overall game doesn't look nearly as good. Just a thought.

Sounds cool, hope someone will do it...how bout you?

I don't know... I COULD do it, but I don't have the time to do a really great job on it. The graphics would need to be changed to take advantage of EVNs new features (ship lights, engine flares) which I don't have the time or knowledge to do. But, graphics aside, how easy would it be to just copy the EVO universe to EVN? I'm not exactly an expert on Res-Edit, but couldn't you just copy certain resources, or would you actually have to recreate the universe in a Nova plug-in editor? Depending on how much time it would take, I'd do it, but judging from the fact that it hasn't been done yet leads me to believe that it might not be as easy as I'm thinking...

That might be a idea, but the results wouldn't be as good as if it were orignial. It would theoretically be the same just with a few extra stuff like glowing ships and better proformance, but not much more then that.

As far as I know (which isn't much) there will be a TC of EV and EVO to Nova. I could be wrong.

Well it depends on the plug-in really. If you're just adding ships from teh EVO game to EVN it would look kind of bad compared to Nova.

Unless they're Capt' Skyblade's versions. Those look better than the original models.

Unless I am gravely mistaken, there will be a utility out some time soon called PortAuthority that will convert any plug for either of the past EV games to the Nova engine. It is by the same guys that made NovaTools, though I forget what they changed their name to. I'm not sure it it would take advantage of Nova's enhanced graphics but it seems to me that making such a TC might be a waste of time if PortAuthority is coming out any time soon.

PortAuthority would definitely make the porting process easier. However, EVN's new engine does lend itself to the creation of new graphics. The top-down plain (in comparison) graphics of EVO would want to be replaced with nicer 45 degree obliquely rendered ships. MAGMA could suffice in a pinch, though probably the ships would be better completely rerendered, so that weapon, engine, and running light glows could also be designed at the same time. And, there's the matter of the fullscreen shipyard pics, though less important.
So, most of the work might be done outside of PortAuthority. PortAuthority would probably help in the transition from the old mission flag system to the new Nova control bits, and just the general copying of resources in ResEdit.
I've thought of that.
If only I had Infini-D... sigh :frown:

What you should do is get about 4 or 5 graphics people, give them the lighting angles and a race each and get them to make the ships for each race. It wouldnt be that hard. I would do the Voinians for you if you like...
Then all you have to do is change over the rest of the data, this shouldnt take 2 proficiant Res-Editors more than a few weeks graft.

I might take the offer up once I finish figuring out the EVN engine (it's slightly more complicated as far as graphics are concerned ;)). I haven't done Override-related models in ages, so it'd feel great to be doing them again.
The only remods I've done lately have been for EV - the (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/RebelDestroyerLarge.jpg")Rebel Destroyer(/url) and (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/ArgosyLarge.jpg")Argosy.(/url) Of course, these are suppost to be simple, but for Nova plugins, my graphics would look more along the lines of the (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/FirebatLarge.jpg")Firebat(/url).

I figure out that it be cool if there were variants of EVO ship. Just imagine the kind of weapons and upgrades a certain ship would have.
U.E.S. Controvertible (Carrier Frame)
Andrew Welch (Voinian Upgrades Detected)
U.E.S. Earth (Flagship Class Cruiser)
Yeah. U.E.S. Incontrovetible was impossible to destroy. It destroyed 3 Voinian Cruisers. Impressive power.

there is no U.E.S. Earth in EVO i'm afraid. the flagship of the UE fleet is the U.E.S. London: a Carrier.

Yes, there is: check përs resource ID 151. It appears after you complete the UE Cruiser missions.
