MOD: That's unrealistic, UE Admiral. You could never kill off 1/3 of the Pirate ships THAT quickly.
OOC: Does anyone know what kind of ships the Coalition Pirates use? I have absolutely no idea.
----------
Huan System
The Pirates immediately call in reinforcements from Hatuli and Troub, and meanwhile split up their forces into three groups. One group goes for the center of the Coalition lines, and recieve a hail of weapons fire. But the Pirates are ready, and their ships and dispersed and able to evade most of the firepower targetted at them.
Meanwhile, the other two groups suddenly close in from the flanks, pouring weapons into the Coalition before they know what was happening. The Coalition formation was thrown into confusion as the Pirates screamed down. Several ships fell to the guns of the Coalition, but several gunships were hit, survived, and rammed one of the giant dreadnaughts, setting off huge explosions.
The dreadnaughts shields rippled as more Pirate ships creamed in, firing away at it with all they had. Three Shark destroyers then set in an collision course as a last ditch effort. The Dreadnaught fired at them and destroyed one, sending its burning wreckage flying into the dreadnaughts shields, but the other two continued on.
The first Shark struck the dreadnaught head on, imploding its shields in a massive explosion, and sending tons upon tons of debris into the larger enemy warship. Then the second Shark came in at an angle, gouging a huge and deep hole in the dreadnaught and setting off dozens of massive explosions as the Pirates continued to pummel it from afar. The dreadnaught drifted, then exploded in a huge and violent fireball, causing hundreds of tons of wreckage to fly into the rest of the coalition fleet, which had been forced in a rather tight area. The other dreadnaughts were damaged, and several escorts were destroyed, setting off more explosions.

Z'tar and Espilot plan ahead for the future and talk of the past. "Do you remember when..." "YOU did that?..." "What about the time where..." "Oh yeah! I would have forgotten if you hadn't have brought it up..."
They pass the time this way for a little while since it has been a while since they've been face-to-face. Although both are enjoying the reunion of sorts, they are getting ever the more anxious to hear from the Dark Angels as to their reply.

OOC: Come on guys! Let's get posting! I know there is plenty to post about with the Battle in Hrekka and the appearance of the alien scouts (read my BD; it's a VERY important part of the story).
Hrekka
Grunadulator and the Miranu Alliance both have ships in the Hrekka system by now. Within days, the dead and wounded are either in cold storage on ship for return to families, or recuperating. Salvage companies have had their way with the battle debris. A courier from Admiral Benden comes to see Mamajama where she is in temporary quarters on Amanos ship.
"Mamajama, there is the matter of payment." "Indeed there is, sir." "I have been instructed to offer you a Dragon Dreadnaught, 12 Ares Crescent Warships, and 12 Heavy Fighters, along with your payment, for the sterilization of Hrekka. "
"Please tell the Admiral I am extremely grateful for his generousity, and that the House of Jama stands ready to aid the Miranu Alliance in any future endeavors."
Mamajama inspects the new Dragon Dreadnaught. Inhaling that great new-ship smell, she thinks. "Sweet. Lysew turrets, repulsors and fighters enough for an army. An Adaah emitter, which frankly scares the ____ out of me, but might be useful if all else fails. Armor and shields for days. It doesnt make up for poor Foster, bless his slow, sexy smile in the morning, but its a start .I think Ill name it Fosters Revenge."
She keys in an order for irrigation equipment to be freighted to Poch, and changes her status to "available" on the Mission computer, together with specs of her refurbished fleet. The newswire notes that strange alien scouts have been sighted in several systems, including Nemnel and Himgro. "While Im waiting for a new mission," she decides, "Im going to take the Fosters Revenge out for its maiden voyage to investigate that odd alien scoutship in Nemnel."

The alien scout suddenly zoomed forward and came to an abrupt stop just ahead of the Fallen Angel. There it stood, apparently trying to scan something, or maybe it was trying to communicate with the Dark Angels.
Suddenly, three more scouts appeared out of nowhere and moved around the system, but they were now moving in a pattern; a circular formation around Council Station, while the other scout just stood there, watching, and maybe scanning...

Espilot looked at the response from Saraine. "I would like to speak with Saraine in person, but for that we would have to deactivate the subspace inhibitors. I'll just have to send a reply..."
<Message to the Seraphim (Saraine, Raven, Rasael)> <From: Zidigar Admiral Espilot> {encryption code AKNILS55 1st Priority} Saraine, how long has it been? Over thirty years I guess. Back when I was still a mercenary, and you were the leader of the Dark Angels. I have heard that your scientists are attempting to reverse engineer our Phased Beamer tech. Well, I think it would be somewhat hard for that, as the crystals used to focus the energy of the beam are unique to Twyus, which is of course cut off by our subspace inhibitors. We would be willing to send you some samples, but we would like blueprints for any and all ships unique to the Dark Angels organization, and if you could, blueprints for Azdgari ships.
Espilot <Message End>
"Admiral, why would we need blueprints for Dark Angel and Azdgari ships?" Z'tar asked. "I have been thinking...if Saraine and his comrades are truly potential allies, we might want to open trade. That being the case, it would be quite a hassel having to deactivate and reactivate the inhibitors every time a ship leaves or enters our territory. So, I believe that we need to find out a way to have the inhibitors stop enemy ships, but also let friendly ships past, without switching them on and off. Send Kenel a message to get our top hyperspace researchers here for a conference."

Allow me to introduce the other members of the Seraphim; Rasael, our shipyard and construction manager, and our science manager, Raven, who actually isn't here right now; I'm not sure where she's gone. As for the Phased Beam, you may know that the Azdgari variant, the Skrad Beamer, was also based on your Phased Beams. The Phased Crystals aren't neccesary; I can't tell you what the Azdgari use instead (it's a secret, you understand), but we're using lab-grown sapphire prisms, and positrons to power it. We expect to get something crude, but powerful. And we'd love to help, but as you're no doubt aware, the Dark Angel Archangel is the second most powerful known vessel in the known galaxy; we're not about to give that away lightly. Maybe if you told us what you wanted our blueprints for? Ciao, The Seraphim -Saraine -Rasael -Raven (by proxy))
"Say, where exactly is Raven right now?" Rasael asked, after the message was sent. "I don't know." Saraine replied. "It worries me, this buisness with that mercenary I actually messaged the House of Jama a short time ago, asking for an explanation." "Without consulting the rest of the Seraphim?" Rasael snapped. ---------------------
The three alien scouts in Gadzair suddenly moved forward and then began a small circular pattern around Angel's Lair. They did that for some time, and then engaged a high-energy scan.
Their sensors did huge sweeps of the station, obviously trying to learn something about the armament and shielding of the station, or possibly trying to scan the people inside. Whatever it was, it could easily be detected.
In Terapin, suddenly, and without warning, an small, dark shape jumped into the system.
It was another alien scout.
How it managed to go through the hyperspace link when the inhibitors were on the Zidagar didn't know, but the alien scout immediately zoomed around the system for a moment, then moved towards Terapin, and stopped dead in the water.
Then it began a very high-energy-level scan of the station, which could easily be noticed, and which alarmed the station commander and he sent a message immediately to Zidagar High Command...
Could someone post?
An azdgari military azdara patrol moves up to one of the foreign drones and hails it. To: Alien Scout From: Azdgari Alliance Welcome to our galaxy! We would like to be the first to welcome you, and offer our hand of peace and good will! The azdgari alliance is one of the strongest governments in this galaxy, and we would be welcome to show you around, and introduce you to all other govt leaders. We will gladly give you maps and data about the milky way. End
Redch'igh leans back, and relaxes a moment. The azdgari will be the first to make peace with a race beyond the milky way!
Suddenly, a scientist rushes up to him. "Sir!" "Yes?" "We've detected the cause of the blast of radiation we detected a few weeks ago. It's originating point has been detected, sir." Redch'igh rolls his eyes. Scientist always make a big deal out of something as boring as radiation in space.. He decides to pretend to be interested. "Where was it created?" "Crescent Station..." "Thats nice, do what you want.... wait.. did you say crescent station?" "Yes." "Damnit all to hell.. The council never told us why the station was there, other than that it protects this galaxy from some highly evolved races... It's creation has hypothetically been linked to gadzair, and only one azdgari has ever been inside council station and lived to tell about it... Ensign?" "Yea?" comes a voice from an intercom on RED's desk. "Get me Yakuza." "Why do you want to talk to him? Everyone know's he's a phsycotic." "Just get him here." "Fine." "What was that?" "Nothing, sir. He's on his way." "That's better. Goodbye." The scientist walks out, confused.
REDchigh stares at the holovision, and his eye is drawn to pictures of the azdaras hailing the alien scouts... He wonders for a moment if these alien scouts are from beyond the crescent... "If they are, we dont have any hope. We better hope they're from the nebula or something." Redchigh says to himself. ----------------------- an hour later, a DA fighter reaches Magi prime, the new Azdgari capital in the meagh system. The fighter pilot and a dirty muscular fellow in chains is brought to REDchigh. "The dark angels dont want your scum at our station" The pilot says to no one in particular. "You can go now." REDchigh says in a voice that scres the dark angel. He leaves, and the fighter flies off. RED looks at the pirate. "So, what do you have to say to me?" "Them thar Dak angeles are gonna alli the Zidsga. We thoughts ya should knows." "I'm impressed. How'd you find out?" "This little bugger comes in handy." The pirate pulls out a cone shaped object that fits in his palm. REDchigh looks on, slightly interested. "This whatchy translates vibrations into sound and records it all. I put this in the wall of the station about an hour. Not much was picked up, but a discussion about the zidsgar is loudnclear." "Thanks... here."RED takes the chains off. "That's betta." "So how about an alliance?" "Sound's good to us." "Trade technologies?" "Shore. Hars me offer....... (Rahzio, finish.)

The alien scouts did not respond at first. They only continued to circle around endlessly. Finally, they replied in a short message, but the language could not be deciphered.
Then, they sent another message....
"Tell us about this galaxy and its races...."
Admiral Yakuza walked into Azdgari High Command. He was sweating and nervous; the alien ships had scared the heck out of him, and when they zoomed down to scan the planet, he had suddenly seen the image of a dark alien with red eyes, but only for a split second. He entered and saluted to Redch'igh. "You wanted to see me sir?"
OOC: Er, red, I was under the impression that to communicate from Tumni to Council Station you would require a visual text message. Anyway, how do you know the pirate guy was in or near the same room as Saraine when he sent the replies?

Mamajama, in the Foster's Revenge , was searching the Himgro system for signs of the alien scout. Finally, sensors picked up a small, fast moving ship with an unknown transponder code. Scans could not penetrate the hull. Turo, on ops, said, "The scout has an unusual sub-space energy field emission. It also has another unknown energy field around the vessel itself.
"Hail them on all frequencies", ordered Mamajama. There was no immediate response. Then, twenty five more scouts appeared in the system, and sent out a message requesting information about the race and history of any listeners.
"I don't like this," said Mamajama. "Baret, send off a subspace transmit to Admiral Benden. Tell him about these weird scouts, and ask him what, if anything, he wants me to tell them about the Miranu. "
To the scouts she sent out only: "We hear you, and are deciding what we may safely tell you. It would help if you told us your race and your history, first."
Then Baret, her communications officer, signalled her of an incoming "private and personal" transmission. It was the message from Saraine about Raven.
The titular head of the House of Jama paused, deep in thought, and then told her crew that she would answer this transmission in her own quarters. She wrote:
Saraine,
It's been many years since I've seen you or the Dark Angels. We last met in battle in the Adzgari system, where I was commanding a mercenary force, hired by the Miranu to avenge Miranu losses incurred during the battle for the Rock. My mission was to control Suicide Warships, initially aimed at the planet Adzgari, then re-routed to destroy the Adzgari moons. Raven, who was my dearest friend back then, was working with you on ship designs, and I didn't tell her of my mission. How could I? The Dark Angels were allied with the Adzgari. So...I followed orders from my employer, Admiral Benden, and yes, the Suicide Warships, filled with antimatter, rammed into the moons. Ten billion Adzgari citizens died, and no one has entirely trusted the Miranu since.
I suppose I am fortunate that there is no galactic "War Crimes Tribunal", for surely I, Admiral Benden, and the others who created that unholy mission would all be found guilty. I find myself guilty. I should not have accepted the job. In my own defense, my belief was that only one Suicide Warship would be used, as a warning, on a sparsely populated area of the planet. Then they were re-routed to the moons. With two of the three moons destroyed, volcanos erupted and tides on the planet Adzgari grew into killer tsunamis that drowned coastal cities..
I have nightmares about those ten billion Adzgari men and women and children, waking from sleep to the sky raining fire, or drowning in an ocean suddenly overhead. Those that survived that found that their planet turned icy cold and airless, so they froze and suffocated to death. I dream of that time, and the screams of the children. And then I wake. And I remember that I was a mercenary soldier, doing a job that kept my own people on Poch healthy and safe, that paid very well and kept my own planet's economy afloat, and I manage to put away the nightmares for another day. Sometimes, I even see my people, who have had twenty years of almost-peace, instead of the daily terror of Renegade and Adzgari raids, and I see my son grown to manhood, with his wife expecting a baby soon, and I'm glad that I did what I did.
But, Saraine, Raven doesn't see it that way. She sees it as a personal betrayal, that I didn't tell her about the Suicide Warship mission, and she sees me as a war criminal. And she has never forgiven me, and I despair that she ever will. She was always more sensitive than me. I was the practical one. We had good times, back in the day, got into all kinds of scrapes and adventures. Ah, the renegade bar stories of Mamajama and Raven! But those days are long gone.
I'm sorry that her obsession with the past is impacting her work for you today. I'm sorry for everything. I doubt if there's anything I can do (other than spending the rest of my life in jail, to satisfy Raven), but if there is, don't hesitate to call.
Mamajama
PS. I will come to the Angel's lair. Perhaps we can discuss this further. Perhaps Raven will even agree to meet with me. Expect me soon.
