100 has always served me well, but thats probably slower than most like it.

I believe that I played EV with the speed set anywhere from 100% to 125%. If I needed it any faster, I could always hit caps lock.
The speeding up the game when waiting on the ramscoop is a good idea, I've used it many times in the past.

Well I've always played both at as high as possible: it was actually set at 263% when I used to play on an LCIII :), but that's not even on the slide bar! I've had it set at 225% using emulators recently, until yesterday... I downloaded a few EV classic plugins as it runs far better emulated than EVO - and one of them told me that changing it from 100% messes with the turning stats, at least in EV, after which I remembered that the only time I managed to get up to a Confed Cruiser, it couldn't turn! So now I'm going to be at 100... which basically makes EVO torture under emulation - not that that's a bad thing, as there's little or nothing left to discover there :).
Playing at less than 100% is good for destroying ships with a turning ability of 1, because they can't turn
Otherwise I always play at 100% and hit caps to speed things along some times.

You're a genius! I feel dumb for not figuiring that out myself. I don't think that I have ever changed the speed from 100%.

I usually use any speed between 100% and 175%. Anything too fast makes the projectiles screw up. The torpedos semm not to work when the speend is too high. I think this is just a bug. Oh well i barely play fast unless I want to get somewhere fast or I need to refuel.

I almost always use %100 speed. I prefer it more than any higher, and my reason being because just because you move faster, doesn't mean the bad guys don't either! In my prespective, I think %100 is fine how it is. Although, with the certain exception when I need my ramscoops to bring my fuel back up! Just use what speed you like the best!

You're robbing yourself, grunadulater! Playing with game speed turned down means that your gunfire doesn't reach as far across the screen as it ought to do. Turn the speed up to 100%; you'll find that you can live with it.
Setting very high speed in an attempt to make EV:O run decently on a slow computer (or under emulation) involves skipping frames, and makes clever manouuvering much harder. At least your guns reach a decent distance though.

Great question! I used to keep it set around 100%, but that seemed a bit slow to me, so I recently turned it up full blast! Lemme tell ya, when you're in a Crescent Fighter, it seems like everyone else is moving in reverse. With capslock on, this baby really zooooooms! The only problem is I tend to fly right past my own SAE modules. I like to use Pursuit Missiles on smaller/faster targets like Kraits/Crescent Fighters/Voinian fighters... and use my SAE's on larger/slower targets like Helians/Turncoats/Laziras/warships/Voinian Cruisers... One thing I love most about fighting is helping out other fighters such as militia ships/others who just can't seem to do enuff damage to the enemy ships. My favoritet tactic hearkens back to (forward to?) the days of Star Trek. That is cloaking, coming up on the enemy unawares (and most of the time they stop moving), decloaking, targeting, firing, recloaking... Also, even though I have just sent in my payment for the games, Capt. Hector still attacks me (sometimes giving me a nice greeting at the same time). When he comes into the system, I just flash my cloaking device quickly on and off, and he will usually stop, look around, then head for the jump point. I keep him targetted just the same to make sure he does leave, though.

I usually run at 110% to 130%, caps-locking when it's time to do some long-distance travelling.
This is such a luxury compared to when I used to play on a IIci: 225% and caps-lock city!
