I know that it would be impossible to completely and fully match each ship with their counter-parts, because EVO just has more. But in comparison, which ships do you think "piggy-backed" off of the originals? Like, the defender and the krait are almost one and the same, as are light-freighter and the UE freighter. But im wondering what your guy's opinions are, such as, what ship best matches the good ol' Argosy?

No no no, UE Fighter = Lightning.
Crescent Fighter fits the cost role, but not the armanent. Take your pick, really.
Definately not the Azdara, that's a Manta! I'd say all Voinian fighters are Rapiers, too.

I've gotta agree with Dragon. UE Fighter certainly equals a Lightning, only with less firepower.
Manta does seem like it would equal an Azdara now that I think of it, since they are both lighty armed, protected (and they both scream).

Aradas are like Corvettes - smallest civ. ship that can carry a <whatever> bay. Crescent Fighters are Hawks, since they are that <whatever>.
Zachit Fighter are Hawks that actually have missiles.

I have to disagree with these ones; the UE Carrier is definitely better than the Escort carrier, and the UE Cruiser is more like a Confederation Cruiser. The Voinian Frigate and Voinian Cruiser don't even begin to compare to properly-equipped versions of their Confederation equivalents. The Arada is significantly better than the Rapier, but the Lazira isn't as good as the Corvette, and I don't know what makes you consider the Igazra even close to the Alien Cruiser.

"properly-equipped"? What the hell is THAT supposed to mean? "Off-the-shelf Voinian ships suck compared to suped-up Confederation ships"? Well, DUH.
It's always been my opinion that NOTHING compares to a properly-outfitted Voinian frigate or cruiser. Properly-outfitted meaning, in this case, all the maneuverability, etc. type upgrades and all the shield enhancements. That would blast the crap out of a suped-up confederation ship.
It would be interesting to make a plugin for EVO that adds all the EV ships... just to see how they stack up to each other.

EV ships have almost double the shielding of their EVO counterparts.

Plus, EV ships can carry more guns and turrets....and they can carry the max number of both at the same time. This gives EV ships a HUGE advantage.

What ship would match the "Executive Transport"?
Hmm, well the only time you have executive type people to help / kill in EVO are in the end of the Paaren Station string and one of the Aid the Voinians missions - and they travel in shuttles, which probably isn't wise :).
What about the Luxury Liner?
Luxury liner almost reminds me of a cross between a UE destroyer and a Frieghtor. It has room for some weapons but is mostly intended for transporting.
Hmm... I'd say that the Luxury Liner is more like the Emalgha Freighter.
It has quite a bit of cargo space, some limited weapons slots, and bad shields.
And, like the Luxury Liner, you only see it in one or two systems :).
