The first ship you ever Monty Pythoned you succesfully captured? Much less a Voinian Cruiser? That's nearly impossible...You have around a 1 to 2 percent capture percentage, and most players would have to make hundreds of attempts against Voinian Cruisers before succesfully capturing one.

Again, 1% is still a chance. (some people are lucky)

Well, well, sit back for a story then..
Working for the Miranu was fun, even if you were in a shuttle.. At least with it's blaze cannon it could defend itself, and a fuel scoop can take care of fuel problems.
So anyway, I'm off to council station on a rush delivery, and I am passing through the Zidagar/Igadzra border! Suddenly, lights and SAE modules flare everywhere! A fight has broken out between a Zidara and one mad man's private thing... eh??
Ah well, I enjoy a fight. So I sat around and watched as the Zidagar fighters did their best.. Soon it was down to the two smack-daddies in an all out brawl, I was figuring the yellow bastard would win, but apparantly he was having a hard time with his dipsies, because he was disabled first.
Drat, I think, I'll never get there in time. I make a dash, when I hear an explosion. I quickly jab my targeting screen and find that the Zidara has been taken down as well by a stray SAE! WHO-HOO! Double catch! I decide to loot him first..
Credits, cargo, fu-BOOM! whoops, no fuel! Ah well, time to plunder the dreaded space BEEP!.... damn censor.. Anyway, off I go, system is empty, to the yellow wong..
Credits, fuel, aw what the heck! Capture!!!

I dubbed my new ship 'Woinker'.

True, but there's certainly a difference between a likely chance and an impossible chance.
So one person has a 1% chance of taking out an 800+ crew ships and making it his... hmm....

Almost as odd as a 1000+ crew ship having only a 75% chance of taking over a one-man fighter..
You know, the guy in the fighter could just short-circuit the computers, or detonate a grenade in the bridge.

Not to mention that your 1000+ crew isn't going to fit into his fighter, so all he has to do is stand at the doorway and hit you over the head one at a time as you try to get in.

I can think of many ways to kill a ship's crew, however many people there are... Causing my reactor to leak into their air cycling system for instance, or jamming open the airlock and causing them all to suffocate, or even be blown out into space.
No, the real trick is in getting the ship back to port. Rigging up a system of control that allows you to limp back home and recruit some extra crew. And bringing your old ship along as well... quite a trick in a shuttle!

Well, the UE cruiser is the best ship I know of. I once had all the escort slots filled with Igadzras. And needless to say,I kicked butt. Big time. BUT, my luckiest capture, a Crescent warship (used to be a pirate) by a scoutship. That happened the first time I played EVO. Years ago.

Ha! Sounds like "The Man in the Iron Mask..."
Well, I once captured an Emalgha fighter in my Voinian Cruiser. Does that count?

1 man takingover 1000+ people sounds like Quake 1 or 2......
Jesus chist...I don't know what it is but this thread is tripping me out. I just smoked a joint in my garden, and as I read this the constant mention of percentages is messing my head up. Heh..well not that bad, but I feel mighty strange. The thought of capturing a Voinian Cruiser 100 times in a row kind of seems like a task fit for hell...god that would be dull. Not that I'm against EV/O, but doing that 100 times for all eternity would....be....****.
blerg...I'm goin off to skin another one up...see ya later peeps.

Your chances on capturing an Emalgha Fighter in a Voinian Cruiser are far better then capturing a Voinian Cruiser in a UE Fighter.

Yeah, my feeling on this has been that it's pretty likely that in disabling the ship you could have caused enough damage to kill some of the crew and demoralize some of the others. That could mean they wouldn't put up much of a fight - especially if they know the option to you capturing the ship is you blowing up their ship.
It's also possible that the crew could mutiny and willingly help you take over. If the culture was quite combative, then the crew might be embarrassed by their captain's failure and welcome a new captain. Or, the crew may have been pressed into service, like the British navy used to do. In that case, the crew would almost certainly be willing to help you until you let them off at the next spaceport.
Of course I've always wondered how you pay your crew...

I once captured a vionian cruiser with an Igazra, though I did get some help from my four crescent warship escorts.
The UE Cruiser is the best ship to capture in because it has the second highest amount of shields, and a huge crew. That said, I captured a Zidara in a Helian.
