Ok, im gonna make a small add-on plug to EVO, but I lack the creativity required. Please list any ships and weopons that you think would be good added to the game. UE dreadnought? sure. Kamikazi azdaras? why not. list anything you've ever wanted. oh, this plug is also going to give computer players space mines by making the mine a freefall rocket with no acceleration.

I would like to see a gun that shot spinning kentucky fried chicken legs. Also, though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work, maybe you could make an EMP weapon by putting a negative value in the MassDamage part.. Also, beams are cool but nobody ever uses them.

Well, that's more creativity than I could claim to have myself, although I used the spacemine idea in a small plug already, but the EV (classic) AI is too dumb to use it Dunno about the EVO 1.0.2 AI Just start making your plug, the rest will most likely come your way then.
More fixed guns and more human ships to fill in the gaps.

Are you sure about that? I've seen the AI use the proximity mines in Talon under EV 1.0.4.

Well, I'm currently trying to make a "Gravity mine." Basically it is a small ship (0 max speed, high accelleration) with a special beam weapon kinda like the tractor beam. You drop one out, it stays put, you tell it who to fight, and if they come anywhere near it, they stick like a fly to flypaper. Of course, they'll probably fight and destroy the mine eventually, but you can use those precious moments to get away, or take a few pot shots at it...

Last time we had a thread of this kind, a plugin called 'Dark Station' was produced, by Samurai, in response to the suggestions elicited. I hope you manage to produce a similar piece of work, 'Chigh. (If you could avoid the resource #'s that Dark Station used, so I can have both plugs in at once, so much the better. BTW, what other plugs have you done?

Really? Then I could be wrong, I'll go check it, no wait damn, my last HD crash erased EV :frown:

I haven't seen it happen recently, but then again, I don't often fight against Talon ships. I'm sure I've seen those proximity mines spinning around even when I didn't fire them.
And as we are talking about Samurai's DarkStation (that you can download at the EVO add-on page), avoid using the same ideas; this way, the two plugs would be complementary.
The outfits implemented in Dark Station are: -no true ship the player can command -a bay of ships that are just immobile blaze turrets, called gunpods. -a big bomb that uses fuel, but no ammo -a supercharged blaze turret -a flare laucher -some kind of weapon that is to be used at very close range, called the neutron ram -a weapon that uses its own explosive as a propeller, called the decay missile -a sidesweeper missile -a flak turret, very inaccurate but with a good splash damage -and some renegade enhancements that are not weapons -at least, a mission that allows you to purchase the Igazra green beam
These ideas are particularly particular, therefore you should be able to find different ones.

In Galactic Scourge there is a ship called the Sparrow that has some mines, and uses them often. I think I have EV 1.0.4.
maby you could make a ship with all the specialties(sp?) of the cresent?

Do you have Ares? If so, why not try a bit of a conversion?

How about a ship whose only weapons are a fighter bay and the beam cannon from hell? The beam cannon can be made to suck up fuel and annihilate, oh just about everything.

i think a wave beam would be cool.

I think you were right. I made a simple mine weapon, guidance 6 and max speed 0, gave it to some Arada in EVO and it worked on the AI ship

How could that work?

This can be an interesting idea, but I would add a cautionary note. If you create a ship which simply combines all the best capabilities of any group of species without justification, it is little more than a glorified cheat plug. In other words, if you want to do something like this well, then you need a reasonable story about how the different Strands' technology all got into one ship. This should not be presented as a simple background story, but as a series of missions which the player would be involved in. That way, the player gets to see it develop rather than getting a one sentence description in the Read Me saying, "Renegade cannibals of the Farshanka Clan have stolen the technology of all three Strands & combined it to create the Unholyvengeancebuttkicker class supercruiser, and now they will use it for their goal of conquerring the galaxy and teepeeing space stations."
Create whatever technology you're interested in, as long as you expand the story with it. The plugs that tend to be most loved by players are the ones with interesting stories. There are many hooks for new tech in the game: alien tech from past Crescent Station (possibly theirs would have combined attributes from a couple of the Strands), discoveries of ancient-yet-advanced tech hidden in a nebula (possibly an advanced beam or anti-shield bombs), or newly developed Hinwar ships are just a few ideas.
I would be interested in helping out on story/mission/continuity aspects if you'd like. Any tech you want, I can assist in finding a way for it to fit into the game.
Good luck with it, Paradigm
I'm trying an Idea I just had last night: the Brick Wall. It is basically a beam weapon with about length of 2 pixels, width of 200, very high impact, no damage and it stays on the screen for quite a while.
So you can build brick walls and box things in. They can still shoot at you, though... I'll let y'all know if it works.
Two ideas:
1. a kind of alien 'expanding blob' ship: you could made the actual ship sort of a strangely colored bubble and then give it a weapon that would have the highest inaccuracy possable (so it would expand from all sides), the highest reload speed possible, and a very slow speed. Oh, and you could also give it several of the same type of weapon, but make each one slower but more powerfull then the last, so the closer you came to the center, the more damage it would do.
2. a 'heat plate' outfit, basically the same as the last weapon, except it has a very high speed, but short duration, and no sprites, that way, if a ship got too close to you, it would take damage, not much, or it would be way too powerful, but enough to add extra stratagy.
Oh, one more thing, ive always thought that there should be an ultimate fraighter- something akin to the UE cruiser, but specalizing in trade, not combat. I know that wouldnt really fit how most people play ev, but i think it should be there anyway, perhaps if there was an ultimate fraighter, people would use trade late in the game.

I finished the Grav Mines. They actually work better than I expected - You drop one out and it stays with you until you press V (Ok, they are actually a type of fighter) and then press F to make them fight a ship.
The cool bit is, if you use about 4 or 5 mines in a cross shape, you can controll the ship you are attacking! I mean, you move your ship upwards, and so does it. You move down, so does it.
You can try it. You can incorporate it into the plugin you are making if you want. I just uploaded it to the addons page, so it should appear there shortly (hopefully!). Or you can go to (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/scaryfish/")http://www.geocities.com/scaryfish/(/url) to get it.
