Just wondering which graphics people prefer. Me personnely have to say Magma graphics all the way. Make EVO a much better game.

I rely on unguided weapons a lot, so I prefer the original Ambrosia graphics. You don't really shoot in the direction that you expect to with Magma and the other 3D-ish plugs. The game engine was only ever really meant to be used for top-down graphics. Love the escorts' chatter in Magma though, and some of the gunfire noises as well.

I generally prefer MAGMA graphics, but haven't been playing with it in lately. The intro music rocks! I also use unguided weapons, but I guess I got used to the slightly off graphics. And, VA, the escort chatter voices are from Unreal Tournament, a first-person shooter game. I hate the pursuit missile sound, it's so abrasive, I generally ended up turning the sound off, as I spend a lot of time in Zacha space. Or would it be Zachit space? which is singular and which is plural? However, the sound for the phased beam is awesome!

MAGMA Rocks! It's also very funny if you keep it in your plugin folder and play a plugin which adds ships. For example, I didn't take it out when I started F-25, and the stealth fighters were Eclipse Super Star Destroyers from SW2 I think. It was hilarious. However, I wouldn't be caught dead playing normal EVO without MAGMA.

For the most part, Magma all the way. I don't like the wedge-shaped head of the Arada and Voinian Dreadnaught, however...Otherwise, excellent graphics.

The ship designs in Magma are great, but are let down by EVO's 8-bit colours. This made them a bit blurry, and I didn't use the Magma plugins much.

No it is Zidira or Zidagar space.Zachas use Pursuit missiles as their secondary weapon. But Zidagar use phased Beams as their secondary weapon.

I pretty much agree with Evil Homer. I like the graphics concept, but it doesn't work very well in 8-bit color. However, I really like most of the MAGMA sound effects. They make even a needle missile sound like a weapon to be feared.

I think MAGMA's graphics are too complex to work in the 8-bit colour of Override, and the engine can't really handle angled sprites very well, so I use the original graphics. I think MAGMA is the sort of concept that won't really work well until we've got the Nova engine.

Cazic Thule - If I've got it right, "Zachit" refers to the organization, while "Zacha" refers to a member of the organization. Zacha is used for both singular and plural. I figure that their part of space would be called Zachit space, after the organization, in the same way that their ships are Zachit fighters.
I don't think of it in terms of singular vs. plural, I think of it as individual vs. organization. For example, if you were a pirate with correct grammer (rare indeed), and you were fighting against Zacha, you would say, "The Zacha are kicking my ass." But if you were on the Rock during the assault, you would say, "The Zachit is kicking our asses."
Hope that clears things up. Paradigm
Thanks Paradigm, that sounds reasonable.
It seems that we all like different things. The title music, certain ship graphics, landing pics, certain sounds, whatever... there may be a moral here, to the developer of a big plug: make it as a kit of parts, and people can mix and match the parts that they want.
Yeah, the only annoying things are the graphic level and the firing distortion. Apart from that I use magma for a change every couple of pilots just to keep things interesting. And yeah, the music is cool, the same music is even better in quantimire because of all this... ahh can't explain it. Get quantamire, it's good.
