well im thinkin about using an upgraded arada as my main ship (i normally use an upgraded gunship but i wanna try sumthin new). anyways, i have planned out exactly what im gonna outfit it with. the thing is, i only have 15 tons left and i still need to put my fuel scoops and fuel tanks on, meaning ill only have 1 of one thing and 2 of the other. so i just thought id ask ur opinion. asuming u only have 15 tons (and theres nothin else u want to add to ur ship), do u add 2 scoops (and 1 tank) or 2 tanks (and 1 scoop). tanks add an immediate bonus while scoops only really start to shine when ur runnin low on fuel.

2 tanks and 1 scoop. Two tanks extend your range much further (without tiresome waiting) than scoops, yet you still have the "unlimited" range of having a scoop - just a slower regeneration rate.
I only find scoops useful if you're stuck somewhere without any ships to ask for help and then you can put on 2x speed (capslock) and wait until you've got enough fuel to get back home.

Scoops, since that gives you infinite fuel, which is slightly better than 7 jumps of fuel, don't you think? Of course, either way you'd have infinite fuel, but with 2 scoops it would be easier to achieve.

Two tanks, one scoop.

Two tanks, one scoop. Less overall waiting.

It depends on what you'll be doing... if you'll be flying around a lot in open space and killing lots of enemies, I would suggest going with 2 scoops and 1 tank. I mean, fuel isn't that hard to come by.
But, if you'll be jumping around from system to system doing missions, I'd go with the 2 tanks and 1 scoop.

Usually both - I like to have as much on board as possible and don't like using secondary weapons. In a fighter though, I forego both - go with the Zidagar and the Igadzra and get a plasma siphon = fuel scoop too, and an extra 20 tons :).
Ah.. with 15 tons - I would agree on 2 tanks and a scoop - an extra 2 jumps free of waiting is often the more useful, especially if you're traversing dangerous space.

If I had fifteen tons of space I wanted to use for the outfits already mentioned, I would get two tanks and one ramscoop for reasons stated above. But then again, I sometimes get the opposite...

2 tanks and 1 scoop
Well, scoops are interesting, but they need too much time to get you 1 jump. Therefore, it is better for "ordinary" missions to have 2 fuel tanks, 1 fuel scoop is sufficient if you don't want to be lost in space.

Dont perminently get either, get the tanks when you need em and the scoops when you need em. You can sell things you know...

Why not just get 2 scoops, or 1 scoop, 1 tank and leave the remaining 5 tons free? After all, you're rarely that far from a planet, or if necessary, a ship that will give yu fuel. Even better, just shoot down a freight and take their fuel - what else do you think that they are there for, hanging around in abandoned systems, battlefields etc? (Note : I have recently discovered that this approach is not so effective in Frozen heart, which is all moral and self-righteous and thus for some reason objects to people who gun down innocent traders).

I'd say 2 tanks and one scoop. For one very good reason there are sometimes when ye are doing a mission into deep enamie teritory and you can refule in emplty systems or in a sustem with a big ship ye can avoind. But there are sometimes when you cannot afford to wait to rebuild fule aka the best route is though a renegade infested system and ye have to jump in and then right out. I'd rather have more taks and an after burner so could use if needed. Then have more fule plus I am fond of long range trade like with the people north of the humans (I forget the name)
I am more into the story line so I cheat when it comes to fighting.
I fly a very very hevily modified Emalgahn freighter. She has 300 jumps of fule 2 scoops 2 tanks, 99 emalgahn cannons 99 of their turrents. a clouking device 5 phase turrents 5 swivel phases 5 chase cannons. 50 sheild compasiters 60 sheild boosters, alot of turn thrust and engine up grades (she moves like a scout ship) ohh yeah and has 6000 tons of cargo spake 9999 tons of weapons spoace. max space mines, max hunters, max rockets, max needels and that nuff to easily go head to head with a dreadnaught and win quickly.
it is also very good for tradeing you are strong nuff to suvive the ruffest of battels arouns pax, then go to omm then to the near by systems and back to pax. its fast and ye can be armed damn good.
I named my vessel "Vampire's Kiss".

Hmm, why don't you try seeing how good of a ship you can make without cheater plugs sometime?
I'd say 2 scoops 1 tank, I've always been kinda partial to scoops, but it does depend some on what you're doing.
