I've just realised that completely open polls aren't really that fair, as many vote for the larger warships and ignore things like freighters and fighters.
So I'm opening 3 different polls for a) fighters, freighters and c) warships.
The Arada can be placed in any category.

I'm going for Arada in this because it's the only one that doesn't perform like a freighter, and can do a lot.
My vote is for the shuttlecraft because it's the best value. (if you could hire more than 6 escorts, nobody would hire anything else but shuttlecrafts)

Arada all the way! It's fast, strong, powerpacked, and is easily expandable!
Though this probably doesn't count, did you know that the UE Cruiser is actually a very nice trading vessel? Sure it's slow, but just sell all the Hunter Missiles and Rockets, buy a lot of cargo pods and maneuverability/speed/acceleration upgrades and you got an unbeatable trader ship!

Miranu H. Freighter, because if you convert a little less than half its cargo space into wepaon space you could buy tons of defense items (turrets, missiles, rockets, etc.) and still have more than enough cargo to do multiple misisons!!

My choice of freighter would have to depend on the situation. If I'm looking to hire freighters for escorts, I would go with Miranu Heavies if I could afford it. But 72,000 credits a day is pretty steep. They are the best all around: they hold the most, and they are very capable of taking care of themselves if you get attacked. In fact, they have more armor and shielding than Turncoats.
If I'm just starting a new pilot and can't yet afford Heavies, I would go for UE Freighter Escorts. They are pretty inexpensive for how much they haul, and they have no weapons. It may seem like a bad thing that they have no weapons, but it prevents them from attacking my opponents, so they don't get shot. If I am flying a freighter myself, I like to use the Cargo Transporter for its speed. It can outrun most human renegades and haul a decent amount. I wouldn't want to use it in combat, because its turning rate is too low, but I don't often try to mix trading with combat. The Arada can be good for hauling cargo as well, but if I am in an Arada I usually set it up exclusively for combat.

MHF of course. If you upgrade it right, you get all the room for a full load of space mines, and more still, not to mention 100 tons of cargo space. A great ship for fighting and freighting in EVO.

Believe it or not, I actually have a different personality to SilverDragon.
My vote goes to the Shuttlecraft. In that thing I've taken down 2 Kraits at the same time, Helians and every single Voinian heavy fighter you meet on the first UE mission - run the blockade.
