I've always aimed for 100 posts, and this post is my 100th now.
So I ask this question - what are all your goals?
My next is 1000 - very far off, but that puts me as a veteran to this webboard, which would be fun.

I think you'll find you would get a lot more respect for being a person who consistently makes valid points and offers valuable advice... having a large number of posts does not necessarily mean that you are an interesting or pleasant correspondent.
Remember, too, that the recorded number of posts a person makes can be misleading because the majority of those posts may have been on a different board. Somebody could talk endlessly about Ares (bleh!) and then write one post on the EV developers' board. If you're going to be swayed by the number of posts they've got, you might see their post and think that the person was something of an authority because he's got 743 posts... when actually, he could know less than nothing about EV(O).

A long time ago, on a board far away, there was a guy named OctoberFost. OctoberFost like to brag about his posts, since he had over 2,000 posts. At that time, having 2,000 posts was very good. But he bragged so much that andrew welch got ****** ***, and deleted all his posts. So OctoberFost had 0.

No, that counts as a little bit obsessive :)! I only reply to things that I feel I can add to constructively, and often offer help when it's asked for - but it doesn't do much to the karma :frown:. I only post on this board, and just a few on the EV/EVN ones.. and I don't see it as something to brag about even! As has been said, large numbers may come principally from other boards, or B&B;, I don't know which is worse.. not to mention they may come from all the RPG things!

I'm of the opinion that posts shouldn't matter at all.
Nor should karma, for that matter, as moderators will not read everything said.
What matters is the person, and that you can tell from a single post.
"Talking" to someone with lots of posts shouldn't overawe you. They've simply been around longer than you have; it doesn't mean they're better than you in any way. (Of course, in my case, it does mean that... But that's beside the point.) But, like people have said, the person is what counts -- and, like VA said, people may post in many different forums. (For example, only about 300-400 of my posts are on this board. A vast majority of my posts are on Banter & Brawl...)

I agree with a lot of what's been said, especially VoinianAmbassador's take on this. Personally, my goal is to simply be respected among the community here. IMO, this is done by being friendly & helpful and posting intelligently & originally. I feel it's important to be yourself. Either way, congrats on reaching your original posting goal.
