Quickly carry on with the Zidagar missions Stud! From Zidagar you should get one saying "can you carry out a sensor reading better than any of these rookies?" or something.. then after doing that you'll be given a systems upgrade = 20 tons extra weapons space for no loss! I think you might benefit from that!
------------------
Wow, this topic is rapidly approaching 300. I've been away from my Mac all weekend, but I'll be back tonight and hopefully have a story to tell.
------------------ The last time I was on this board, the price of dumb questions was really high.
Marti - HOLY ****! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? 20 free tons? WOW!!!!!!!!! OFF I GO!!!

Ahem, well, I got the systems upgrade. Now I don't know how to use it! I am thinking of three ideas:
Which one should I go with?
I would narrow that down to choice two and three, though I would definately go for choice two.
Visit my EVO website! (url="http://"http://artworks.tmgmedia.net")http://artworks.tmgmedia.net(/url)
I have chosen choice 2, though I barely see the help of 2 shield enhancers. Anyway, I have some good stories! I'm beginning to like the Zids more and more...
I was on outpost Terapin, after killing the human igadzra scientist girl, and I was told that the big Igazra fleet with the beams would be attacking. I accept. I then get a message saying MORE Igazras are attacking the system. I then get ANOTHER message saying "We go into the valley of death. Care to join us?" I love the Zidagar! So I take off, and the battle begins. And ends in about 5 minutes or less. There were about 14 or so Igazras, and about 30 Zidagar Fighters, and about 15 Zidaras or so, all battling it out. There was so much activity going on, that my iMac DV SE actually SLOWED DOWN. Thats right, EVO had bad animation for a minute! That NEVER happens! Thats how much activity was going on! And the sound, oh God, I had to put in my headphones due to all the phasers and beams and fighterbays going off. Admidst the very center of this battle, a poor Lazira trader. It was pretty funny, I didn't have to do much so I could enjoy waching the battle. This Lazira must've gotten beaten down by Igazra Beams, Zidagar Beams, Phasers, Dispy. Rockets, SAE Modules spinning around, it was SO funny! He then decided to, after flipping out for a few seconds, go after a Zidara. The Zidara went after him, and the Lazira began to run away. However, the Zidara was then disabled from the phase fire of the Lazira, and an Igazra behind it. So the Lazira got away, admidst (sp?) the biggest battle I have ever seen! I had almost no part in the battle either, which is nice for me. I had to take out 1 Arada, and help fight off the last Igazra. It was fun to watch.
I find it funny, that I have SO much trouble with the Azdaras—this tiny little ship with 16 shields, and can easily aid some Zidaras in the destruction of an Igazra—the "strongest" ship in the Crescent. I am now on the Zidagar mission where I have to pick up something from Fluor, and the huge Azdgari raid is there. This will be troublesome. Also, I hope 5 tons is enough space for the pickup.
Wow, great story :).. I always liked the phased beam and Zidagar fighter bay release sounds - that must have been one fun place to be! I'm not sure if 5 tons is enough - you'll probably know by now.. but sad if it's not because you can't get another systems upgrade :frown: and would probably have to buy another ship to do the mission. Or you could cargo expand, which would allow you to do a lot of other missions as well, of course :).
Yeah but, I've already used the 20 tons of free space. And I'm not about to get rid of my two shield enhancers just for some crappy crap on Fluor.
STUPID STUPID STUPID ZIDAGAR!
Not only do all of their missions involve about 30 billion azdaras swarming around you, I was forced to ruin my Crescent Fighter!! How, you may ask. The stupid Fluor mission required 10 tons minimum. The CF has 5 tons. I had to sell of my beloved Shield Enhancers, and my afterburner for a STUPID CARGO POD. AND, I am now on "defend terapin" mission, and about 30 billion azdaras are on this mission, and I think I get 2 zidaras for support! #$#@$%$%^
I'd buy a new CF, and fix that problem, but I have the systems upgrade!
I must admit all the strand races can be very annoying sooner or later. They're tough enough alone, much less in numbers.
Yes, and numbers takes on a whole new meaning when you're vs. the Azdgari! If they were like the other strands and only had two ships to their name, ie. if they lost the A. Warship - they'd be much less to fear. But I guess that's the point. Anyway, at the rate this is going, the title with pride and accomplishment might get a bit inappropriate - frustration and sorrow :)?
Well, here's a refreshing story for all you people who seem to hate the Azdgari as much as I do. I finally picked up the next Zidagar mission, after figuring out that I had to raise my status with them. I started tearing through the Zidagar missions at a frantic pace, and finally, I came to "Attack Chak." Once I got the Zidagar mass expansion, I wisely used it on Dospect Armor. This stuff is AWESOME, it absorbs anything a crescent ship can hit me with like spitballs. Even Azdara swarms take a while to destroy me, and I always have plenty of time to warp out from the middle of them. Well, anyway, here's the story.
I warped into the Chak system in my Crescent Fighter, the StarStrafer (duh). I didn't cloak, because I wanted to divert the Azdaras from the Azdgari vs. Igadzra battle, giving the Igadzra a better chance (I'd much rather have to deal with them, than left over Azdgari). Unfortunately, they didn't take the bait, and only a lone Azdgari Arada chased me. He instantly downed my shields with a dispersal rocket, but the rockets barely dented my armor, when they did manage to hit it. I took down the Arada without much trouble, and headed back to observe the battle.
The Igadzra had sent to Igazras. Naturally, a force to be reckoned with, but little match for two Azdgari warships, their Azdara complements, and several Aradas. When it was all over, both the warships had survived, as well as an Arada and a single Azdara. I moved off from the warships, and let the Azdara and the Arada chase me. My upgraded fighter outgunned the Azdara, and could take more damage. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep hitting it constantly enough to counter its insane shield shield recharge rate, and it didn't hit me nearly often enough to counteract my recharge. So every time it cought up, we ended up in a stalemate until the Arada arrived, and I would have to move off again with a burst of afterburner.
Finally, I tried another strategy: I ignored the Azdara completely and engaged the Arada. I moved around it quickly enough so that its dispersal rockets mostly missed me, and the Azdara still couldn't get much damage in. I disabled the Arada and resumed my dogfight with the Azdara. Finally I got lucky and managed to destroy it, after it made a bad move and got stuck in my range just a little too long. I moved in and took the Arada's fuel to keep my afterburner ready. Then I destroyed it and moved in to take on the warships.
Fortunately, the warships had needed all their secondary weapons to bring down the mighty Igazras, leaving them with nothing but phase turrets to use against me. I used my "StarStrafer Special" (strafing runs) on the warships, as I do with most big ships. But I didn't pay much attention to my armor, and made my runs to close together to allow any recharge time. The warships got me down to around 15% armor. Every pass I made left me with about 8%, and I would move out of range for a second or two, just long enough to get back to 15% or so. Once, they actually took out my armor completely! I had literally no protection, and a hit from a ping pong ball would have finished me. That's when I decided to put some distance in and get back up to half armor. After that, I finished off the warships with no further problems. Upon my triumphant return to Outpost Terapin, I learned that I had completed the central objective.
Nice story nice story, but uhh there's one incorrect part in that story: ordinary Azdgari warships have no secondaries other than the fighter bay. I know, because I've flown one of them. It had 4 phase turrets and the 6 normal Azdaras. I'm still at a shortage for stories, but I guarentee the next one will be from EV and not Override ;). And Stud, you hate Zidagar and their missions? Well DUH. I bet I would too if I were doing them in a CF but I did mine in a CW, and quite frankly I like them better than the other Strands.

Hmm, I guess that's why they had none to shoot at me, maybe I overestimated those Igazras.
First off, nice job StarStrafer! I now see a use for the Cloak, I wil either totally forget about it, or I don't know how to use it, and when. I have never used it for ANYTHING except to spy on the prototype dreadnought. I should learn its power.
Anyway, I am assuming you bought 4 Shield Enhancers with your original 20 tons instead of Dospect? Thats an excellent idea, and I should have done that. I am now stuck with no shield enhancers, and a cargo pod. :frown:
I started a new pilot, this time on strict. Crew of One-er ofcourse. Perhaps I'll use your idea.
ESPilot - I don't hate the Zidagar. I hate their missions. I like the Zidagar! I especially like when I get "we go into the valley of death! Care to join us?" Why I like that I don't know. I like the Zidagar personality, but otherwise they suck.
I shall now attempt to use my cloaking device to beat the Chalk mission. If I fail, Dash Riprock shall be laid to rest.

I did it.
I have completed the Chak Misson. I have completed the Strand Objective. Though I am now stuck with a Cargo Pod, and I can't buy any Shield Enhancers, I have completed what I needed to do.
The battle wasn't as hard as it was previously tried times. 2 Azdgari Warships, and 3 Aradas, vs 3 Igazras, and 1 Arada. Luckily, the Igadzra Arada went after me, while the other guys battled it out. I took the little guy out (with ease ofcourse) and went back to observe the main battle. By this time, it was a mess. There were Azdgari Aradas disabled floating around, phase fire all over the place, SAE modules spinning in circles like mobile land-mines, and lots of ships. However, the Igazras must have grouped together, because no Azdaras were left. 2 Igazras were remaining, and because I didn't want to battle one of them to the death, I decided to help the Azdgari Warships (2 were left). One became disabled by the time I reached the battle (not very long), and the other one was around 35% shields. The Igazras were at 20% and something like 14% or something. I helped with the 20%, and we disabled and blew him up. We then moved on to the 14%, which was now at 18% I think. The Azdgari Warship battled as hard as it could, but when the Igazra was at 6% shields, he became disabled. I was still at full Armor (no shields though) and was more than capable of beating the guy. I battled him, toe-to-toe, phasers-to-phasers, for 30 seconds or so. I was semi-rapidly losing armor, and he was semi-rapidly losing shields. I held down the space-bar (my fire button) harder and harder as I saw each percentage drop. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he was at shields down. I then did a quick circle, just to have a good finale, continued to fire, and BAM! Disabled. I finished him off, took out the Azdara that warped in a few seconds before I blew him up, and hypered off. I was left with maybe 5 or 6% armor after it (I ran into a few SAEs during the battle) and felt proud. Though I can not buy my Shield Enhancers, hopefully this Dospect will hold out against Voinian Rockets and Neutron Turrets/Cannons. I must now re-learn how to battle Voinians. Why? Well, I had to develop "quicker" skills for the Crescent, and I was in the Crescent for quite awhile. I still have the Zachit to do, but they can wait. I am almost complete with the Crew of One Challenge. 1/3 Done.
Hmmmm.....I don't think I'd be able to go through all the main objectives of EVO in a ship with only one crew....Unless it were like a CW with the crew reduced to 1 with ResEdit..Oh wait that would be cheating wouldn't it? Ah well...I never really liked ships with 1 crew unless either I was flying it or I had launched it from a bay ;). I STILL have no stories whatsoever, but I'm searching I tells ya I'm searching!! The only problem is I'm vainly continuing to blow up this single Alien Cruiser with its fighters in my Confed Frigate...I always get reduced to a metal pulp the moment I'm hit with all those Seeker Drones.........
ESPilot - Well, once you beat him, thats your story! Or, if you ALMOST, oh-so-close-to-beating-yet-die him, tell that story! I told both the success and near-success of my Dreadnought battle in my CF.
BTW, I never cared much for the UE Fighter or Crescent Fighter or the 1 Crew ships myself, but they are good ships! You just have to be wise about every move. Whether it be who you side with, who you attack, how you attack, what to buy, and even WHEN to buy it. I learned the buying stuff the hard way. I now have a "ruined" crescent fighter. I had to use a cargo pod for the Fluor mission. This basically wasted the systems upgrade, and now I have no Shield Enhancers. I should have been wise and do what StarStrafer did: He got a few Shield Enhancers, and saved enough room for the cargo pod, and then got the systems upgrade, and bought some Dospect. I however, bought the Dospect right away. That was my mistake.
Anyway, orders fresh brandy for the gang. Next?
All righty! I beat the Aliens!!! But seriously it's not worth telling. Just take my word for it. But afterwards I was able to buy a Confed Cruiser which possesses one of the most feared and awesome weapons from Galactic Scourge: Neutron Turrets! Of course my Frigate was equipped with these too...So I was in my bif fancy maxed-out Cruiser, which had been maxed out with the money I scraped together plus the HUGE sum of money I got for killing the Aliens. Then I was asked to destroy 'Patrol Fleet Six', which was led by a Rebel Dreadnought. And they too carried one of the most feared and powerful weapons from GS: Mass Turrets. but far more than I had Neutron Turrets. I knew this and to compensate with the puny maximum of 2 Neutron Turrets I bought 2 Proton Turrets to go along with it. So all-in-all my Cruiser had this: 1 patrol ship bay, 5 Confed Patrol ships, 1 Gunboat bay, 2 Confed Gunboats, 2 Neutron turrets, 2 Proton turrets, 2 Missile Racks, 54 missiles, 2 Torpedo launchers, 55 torpedos, a layer of Armaplast and a layer of that other armor whose name I forget..the one weaker than Armaplast.
So, I jump into the Tryvin system, I'm greeted with the Dreadnought and the arrival of many destroyers and Mantas. I take out the Destroyers and Manats without using too much shields or missiles, but then there were the Thrasher fighters the Dreadnought was continually spitting out. The Thrasher fighters were faster than Mantas, had better shielding (by 5 armor) and more missiles, plus the annoying Guided Javelins. Whenever they got close they were quickly destroyed by my turrets' onslaught. After they were all dead, and the Dreadnought was hopefully out of the torpeos which it continually spitting at me, I launched all seven of my fighters and made them do their work. Them plus my continual torpedos got the Dreadnought down to about 2 percent shields by the time I was close, so I rushed in at top speed and fired weapons at full, and instantly my shields were diminished and my armor nearly gone from all the mass fire, but I disabled him before I got too low on armor. Then a Manta jumps in as I blow the Dreadnought up and he fires his missiles which put me to a sliver of armor, and when he came in range I blew him up in seconds with my immense barrage, but it took only those seconds for the Manta to get in just enough laser fire.....just enough.............BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye-bye Cruiser :frown:
OH MY GOD! That REALLY sucks! And it's embarassing! I remember once with my A.E.S. Firebird, I had just taken out 2 Igazras (these are hard for me, they have longer range) and had about >1% armor. However, SAEs were still floatign around in circles. There were 5 bunched together, almost making the Olympic Ring sign, but, the bunch was almost a circle. And ofcourse, knowing my luck, they were right near the planet, I think I was in Mark, but I don't remember, and all 5 of them would swoop by the planet. And because I had VERY low armor, even one just brisking my hull would kill me, it was a hard to land. I did not want to wait it out, because if even an Arada were to jump in, he would be harder to take out. So I get VERY close, but I'm going to fast, I do a 180, and begin to pull away from the planet, but during my thrusting, BAM! I wasn't quick enough. A stupid SAE bumped into me. The Igazras got revenge.
Basically, ESPilot, I'm sayin' "Been there."
