Thunder watched on in dismay as the UE and Corocian vessels entered Station Unity's vicinity. Several of the Station Unity officers suggested launching the construction fleet as a peacekeeping force, but Thunder overruled them. He wasn't about to pick a fight; the last thing he wanted was more fighting. He wanted to keep Station Unity safe as an area of peace open to everyone. Tensely, he considered hailing the lead vessels and telling them to "take it outside", but before he decided to do so the UE vessels left, saving him the trouble. The station was safe yet again. Thunder didn't approve of the Corocians using the DSN-6849 system as a fallback position where they would be safe from attack, but as station unity was a civilian station with no military ties and what amounted to little more than a skeleton crew (the population of the station was still only around 30,000), he was in no position to tell the Corocians where to park their military.
Unfortunately for the Corocians, though, the media had no such restrictions.
Dozens of reporters for news agencies across the galaxy were still on board Station Unity, and they flocked to the portals facing the gathered forces while the standoff was going on. Looking on, they quickly surmised the situation and immediately set about writing it up and transmitting it to their respective headquarters. Within the hour, a news flash appeared on the GNN network, a popular news syndicate viewed across all of UE and independant space. "Corocian forces raid UE systems, use Station Unity as human shield" the headline read, and the story that followed told of the recent attacks on UE space followed by the Corocian retreat to Station Unity and the subsequent withdrawl of the UE forces. Within another two hours, the story had reached Miranu space, from where it spread quickly across the northern crescent.
UE and Independant civilians were enraged by the story. Vowing to fight what they viewed as a trecherous action by a ruthless enemy, they turned their full attention to the war, now more than ever. Civilian factories went to work producing munitions and ships, and buisness at UE recruiting offices more than quadrupled within an hour of the news flash...

MODERATION: Post revoked. Samurai, I told Entropy that he would have to let Valos defend itself because of its major importance. However, you suddenly come along and retake Alurda without a problem. There is now a large battle going on in Alurda, the UE have not won yet.
To Entropy: The Corocian defenders of Alurda are asking you for quick reinforcements and/or several major attacks on the UE to draw their forces away.
----------------
The Corocians reaction was quick, swift, and decisive.
In the Unity system, Carnotaur then was interviewed and stated that is was the UE, not the Corocians, who had forced them into the Unity system. The Corocians didn't have anywhere to go, Valos was a warzone and Thoso was a major UE base, and so Unity was the only desperate solution. The Corocians didn't want to fight, they just wanted to find some place to retreat. He also smashed the notion of the Corocians using Station Unity as a "Human Shield" saying what they had said before; it was the UE's fault.
Suddenly, a huge swirling vortex appears and then two massive vessels exits it; the C.R.S. Apollyon, C.R.S. Omega, and the C.R.S. Hirogen. They were also accompanied by 50 Corocian warships.
The three supercruisers, after launching a swarm of aradas and fighters, immediately converged on the U.E.S. Goliath, firing their deadly Photon Beams at the massive vessel, which shook its hull and blasted a quarter of it away immediately.
The UE were easily fought back, and the only strongpoint was the Goliath, still dueling with the three 7.5 kilometer long Corocian Supercruisers.
Meanwhile, Thoso and Ariane were under heavy attack and soon Ariane was left to the mercy of the Renegades. As the UE fought desperately with the Renegades in Thoso, the Voinians sent two more fleets to Centauri and Tulir. Though they lost in Centauri, the UE suffered massive losses in Tulir and were soon desperately calling for reinforcements.

Carnotaur recieves a message from the U.E.S. Steadfast, Samurai's UE Cruiser.
As the UE representitive in this matter, I come before you bearing terms of unconditional surrender. This war has taken a heavy toll on our race. Our people are dying to prolong a war in which the conclusion is inevitable. And now, we find that to continue in our struggle would only be to sign the death warrants of hundreds of thousands more innocent people. We, the United Earth Government, surrender to you, the Corocian Alliance. Do with our planets and technology what you will. This long and bloody war is finally over.
All UE military craft have been withdrawn to the Sol system where they drift, empty.

Carnotaur sat at the long table. After the UE surrender, Corocian forces had captured the Goliath, and occupied all current UE territory. The UE military was now dorment.
Station Unity had been choosen as the meeting place for the surrender terms. The Voinian Emporer Borb Jr. (in place of Redchigh who was sick) was there, Entropy was there, Thunder was there just to watch, Kiwi was also there, but he was mainly just to watch and give his opinion to his allies, and Samurai and Carnotaur were there.
Then, Carnotaur read the terms of the surrender.
"Article 1; the UE cannot maintain a military any larger than 500 ships.
"Article 2; the UE cannot build any ship larger than 4 kilometers.
"Article 3; the UE must give Molos, Saalia, and Liat to the Corocian Alliance.
"Article 4; the UE must give the colony of Huron to the Renegades.
"Article 5; the UE must give the colony of Verril to the Voinians.
"Article 6; the UE must give control of Ariane to the Renegades and Voinians to be controlled jointly by the two governments.
"Article 7; until the UE military is able to command current UE space, the Corocian military will continue it's occupation of the UE.
"Article 8; the UE must allow any Corocian, Azdgari, Voinian, or Renegade ship to enter its borders.
"Article 9; the UE will hereby take control of the following systems; Sol, Bakka, Alpha Centauri, Valos, Alurda, Knox, Talii, and Thoso.
"Article 10; any UE ships entering Voinian, Azdgari, Renegade, or Corocian territory must be scanned before entering the respective governments borders.
"Article 11; any UE warship entering Voinian, Azdgari, Renegade, or Corocian territory must not activate any secondary weapons.
"Article 12; the Voinians, Azdgari, Renegades, or Corocians may not unlawfully seize cargo, property, or vessels belonging to the United Earth democratic government without due process of law.
"Article 13; the UE is hereby classified as a protectorate of the Corocian Alliance. Any threatening move against the UE will be met with by retaliation from the Corocian Navy. Once the UE has shown itself trustworthy and able to govern itself it shall become an independent nation after due process of law by the Supreme Corocian Court.
"Article 14; the UE must give all data on the Terminus Array to the Corocians.
"Article 15; the U.E.S. Goliath will be put under the decomissioned status and put in a Corocian shipyard to be analyzed. When the UE becomes a fully independent government and has shown itself to be trustworthy, the U.E.S. Goliath will be give back to the UE after due process of law and recomissioning. This is the only acception to Article 2 of the UE surrender treaty.
"Article 16; more articles may be added to the UE surrender treaty by the Corocians, Renegades, Azdgari, or Voinians during this meeting. The article may be passed after it is ratified by the Corocian Alliance, United Earth government, and due process of law.
"Article 17; no UE ship may enter Corocian territory without Corocian authorization. This article also applies to the Voinians, Renegades, and Azdgari.
"Article 18; no UE ship may enter Corocian territory under cloak without Corocian authorization except under extreme circumstances. This article also applies to the Voinians, Renegades, and Azdgari.
"Article 19; UE ships within Corocian, Renegade, Voinian, or Azdgari territory must be open to inspection by that governments authorities when we demand such an inspection for whatever reason seen fit.
"Article 20; UE ships must withdraw from Corocian, Renegade, Voinian, or Azdgari territory at once if ordered to do so by that governments authorities.
Article 21; All cargo carried by UE ships must receive their approval from Corocian, Renegade, Voinian, or Azdgari authorities depending on which governments territory they are about to enter before they can be transported into that governments territory."
"Article 22; the UE will recieve 10 million credits from the Corocians to compensate for war damages.
"Article 23; the Corocians and Voinians hereby voulenteer to help UE refugees and the UE's injured in rebuilding new homes, fixing wounds, etc. In other words, the Corocians and Voinians will help the UE by being a sort of 'Red Cross' for them.
"Article 24; The Corocians and Voinians will also help supply the UE with desperately needed material supplies, medical supplies, and food supplies to prevent any furthur loss of life, limb, or property.
"Article 25; the UE must not be barred access to Station Unity or it's facilities. If any government does so the Corocian Navy will retaliate swiftly and effectively.
"Article 26; the Corocian blockade in the Miranu/UE void will now be nullified, and instead will become an inspection line. Any unauthorized cargo or other types of cargo that would be at threat to the Corocians, Azdgari, Renegades, or Voinians will be seized.
"Article 27; all UE ships going through the Corocian inspection line must go at only half speed while not in hyperspace.
"Article 28; all UE ships going through the Corocian inspection line must be inspected before proceeding to their destination.
"Article 29; all UE ships going through the Corocian inspection line must not power their weapons up unless ordered to by a Corocian vessel."
Carnotaur then turned to Samurai. "Do you agree to the terms of the surrender?"
(This message has been edited by Captain Carnotaur (edited 03-13-2001).)
I have examined your terms thoroughly, and I will gratefully accept them. A shuttlecraft has been dispatched to F-25 containing our technological information, including the Terminus project. You have our sincere thanks for such a generous offer. We hope to prove ourselves to you as a capable government in the future.
Carnotaur smiled as he watched Samurai and a few UE officials and admirals sign the surrender terms, and then hand them to Captain Scorcher. Later, Carnotaur met up with Samurai, who thanked him for the generous surrender terms. Carnotaur just shrugged and smiled. "I didn't want to kill off millions on innocent UE civilians or create some national incident about the Corocians being brutal to the UE, I wanted some peace and to be on good terms with the UE. However, I'm troubled about the current situation. The Renegades won't be able to raid the UE anymore, the Voinians have no enemies, and now us Corocians still have the Miranu to fight. Ah well, such is life in this galaxy."
NOTE: Samurai, you will still be in control of the UE, but any really really major things have to be passed by me. Remember, the UE are still a partially occupied government.
Titan(In his unarmed UE destroyer) : So the UE is conqerd now, I guess it is time to leave UE space. Commander set course for the Asteroid base in the Corka system. First Officer: Right away Admiral!
Titan's UE destroyer(its cloaked) arrives in the Corka system. Titan: Asteroid base open docking bay! Controller: Acknowledged.
Titan boards his special UE cruiser(that has a cloaking divice).
The U.E.S Avenger flys out of the docking bay and disapers into hyper space.

<Message to Samurai> <Encoded> <Samurai, one last thing I overlooked; where's Titan? I don't trust that guy, and I'm worried he's gonna do something foolish like stage some strike on the Corocians, Voinians, Azdgari, Renegades, or maybe even the UE. If you could locate him, send me his position, I would highly appreciate it.> <End Message> <End Message>
Carno its the Chorca system, I'm sorry I haven't played EVO in a while. And carno Samurai doesn't know where I am, as for attacking maybe I'll crash my ship into F-25, or maybe I'll hunt you down and kill you!
Titan, you are forgetting three things: 1-My character doesn't know that Samurai doesn't know where you are. 2-Chorca is swarming with Corocian and Renegade vessels, and the Corocians would be able to detect a ship as large as a UE Cruiser with their cloak sensors. 3-Rule: No killing other people's players. People can only kill their own players.
New Map: (url="http://"http://www.speakeasy.org/~ljp/carnotaur/dark_tide_map.jpg")http://www.speakeasy...rk_tide_map.jpg(/url)
Thunder looked on in awe at the signing of the Unity Accords that would end the UE-Corocian war. He was sorry to see Samurai forced to do this; he'd worked for Samurai back when he was still a merchant pilot, to deliver the secret cargo to Hirith. He couldn't help but wonder what was in that package that was so important, and if his delivery had been in vain...
In the days that followed, the population of Station Unity increased by a factor of 10 to 300,000 as UE refugees who opposed Corocian Occupation and those whose homes had been destroyed in the war flooded into the Unity system (The crew of Station Unity decided it would be best to officially rename the system, since inhabited systems didn't traditionally bear DSN names), seeking refuge on the station. Buisnesses and trade aboard the station increased greatly as well, now that the area was no longer a war zone. This would certainly make it easier to keep the peace in the Unity system and make it easier to provide a safe haven.
Station Unity was still filled to only 1/10 of capacity, but Thunder knew more would come after having seen the Opening Ceremonies broadcase live across the galaxy or after seeing the stories about the Unity Accords. He watched as a UE Freight Courier entered the system and requested docking clearance. Things would be getting a lot busier around here soon...
Message to Carno: This may sound strange, but I don't know where Titan is. We lost contact with him shortly after the surrender was announced.
A group of five freighters, carrying many human families, are dispatched to Station Unity. They are carrying some 300 people, who disembark at the Station to start a new life for themselves.
Thunder, it was one of the terms of the surrender that the Corocians and Voinians would help the UE rebuild all their homes and such. Not only that, but Liat and Talii were recolonized, so civillians could also go there. Just to let you know.
BTW, Corocian warships are now actively looking for Titan to figure out what he's up to now. As far as Carnotaur is concerned now, Titan is in big trouble and is considered a Renegade and a Fugitive. Corocian warships are under orders to disable Titan's ship, and arrest Titan.

True, but many people would have had their homes destroyed in the war, and others might oppose Corocian occupation altogether, and want to get out of occupied space. Station Unity would be their logical destination, since it's designed to help the homeless and refugees. That's why there would be a large increase in traffic in the area. As the UE is rebuilt, some of them might return to their former homes.
Onboard the Avenger Titan's Scientists are working on making a rift to another galaxy, they are making steady progress. Message to Carno: Why are you trying kill me I haven't done anything. End of message
I hereby bequeth Huron back to the UE. I feel that this war was horrible, stupid, and devastating to all sides. If the Voinians agree, I also surrender Aludra.
1. The Corocians were started to eliminate the Igadzra; or so they claimed. They have proceeded to ignore the Igadzra, and instead attack the UE and Miranu, who posed no serious threat to the Corocians. In the mean time, the Igadzra have swelled in numbers, and are assembling a massive armada to sweep through the Crescent.
2. The renegades both rely on raiding for survival. Now that the UE has been eliminated from the political world in most respects, the human renegades will now rely entirely on the Saalian brandy trade for survival. Article 12 bans seizing badly needed provisions from the once-dominant UE. The renegade warships are useless. They have nobody to fight. Credit accounts run empty and more and more renegades are leaving for Station Unity, Miranu worlds, and even beyond the Crescent, in seek of a better life without killing. Rumor has it that a large faction of renegades, in cooperation with the monks of Omm, are setting up a spatial colony similar to Station Unity. The UE will leave this galaxy by way of the wormhole they are building, and seal it behind them so that none can follow. THe unknown danger is preferred to living forever under the hand of another.
3. The Azdgari and Renegades are so-called "parasite governments." They rely on the existence of their enemies for their survival. Now that the UE is out of the picture, the Corocians, Voinians, Azdgari, and renegades should easily defeat the peaceful Miranu. THe only remainder will be the Igadzra, who nobody controls. The Voinians and Corocians should defeat the Igadzra easily; it is two powerful governments against one. The renegades and Azdgari will have no more reason to exist. They will flit away, like will-o'-the-wisps.
4. The Corocians and Voinian remainder are not exactly the prime candidates for galactic control (sorry, carno, but it's true.) The Voinians are more concerned with taking slaves and galactic domination, not, say, farming, politics, and all the things needed to maintain a working government. The Corocians will have no purpose after all else are gone, only the most massive fleet in the history of the galaxy. A big ffleet and nobody to hurt causes problems among the soldiers. I anticipate a rebellion, with potentially disasterous results. The Voinians and Corocians will destroy themselves.
5.The only remaining government will be Thunder and his Station Unity, and possibly more like it, as well as displaced merchants with nothing to trade or anyone to trade to, tired renegades and people of all strands and strandless, human who never left in the human migration, Miranu who fled the destruction of their sector, Hinwar and Emalgha who feld their Voinian masters in stolen ships to seek out the fabled Station Unity. All in all, barely one hundred million of all races. It will be up to them to recolonize the galaxy, and make it a safe... and peaceful... and prosperous galaxy. In the end, "the meek will in=herit the earth," except on a much grander scale.
In the end, everone loses except Thunder and his band of refugees, and possibly the UE, seeking their unknown fate in a place far, far, far from home.
Game over, in a sense.

You don't even consider your Renegade allies to be anywhere near your own elated status. Titan poses no threat to you, but if he flees to Renegade space, I will halp him if need be.
Titan stores his UE super cruiser in a secret hinding place and heads to station unity.
Titan arrives at station unity to live a life of peace.
However, the C.R.S. Demon is still at Station Unity, and Captain Scorcher intercepts Titan and tells him that the Corocians were worried that Titan may attack them. Then he asks one simple question; what DID you want to do besides just go here?
Meanwhile, Innirian has been attacked by a Corocian fleet along with the C.R.S. Omega and C.R.S. Hirogen. The attack was simple, easy, and fast because the Igadzra in Innirian were being blockaded, and thus were easily wiped out.
Entropy, the UE control Alurda. However, you and the Voinians control Araine, is that what you meant? The Voinians don't care for Araine, so it and Huron will now be in UE hands.
Entropy, the Igadzra are a major power, and the Renegades could easily raid them. Or maybe we could all get in a big war with the Azdgari or the Voinians become really evil and start a war.
Carnotaur has now downgraded the situation with the UE to a low level occupation. Now the UE have much more freedom, but Corocian warships still patrol UE space.
