How is it that escorts don't seem to have any limits on the amount of feul they have?
For instance, my current pilot file loaded, is a Lazira with a feul tank added to the side (making it have 6 jumps), along with 2 ramscoops. 2 of my escorts however are Helians, which have 4 jumps. The other escort is a UE Fighter which has 3 jumps. Yet I normally go 6 jumps without refeuling and the escorts keep up with me. How is that?

Fuel :), as for the question i dont know

Right, right. I'm braindead at the moment.
It's a good question, but I've always been even more surprised when my crescent warship escorts take just as long as my miranu gunship to hyperspace, instead of two days more!

Escorts never run out of fuel, except when they use fuel-draining weapons, like phased beams. Even then, they still have enough fuel to get out of the system, and can use those phased beams again, at the very next jump.

Maybe it's compensation for the fact that they can't have upgrades, and they never get to board anyone.
I have also noticed that I can board a voinian fighter, take all its rockets, and then start using it as an escort. It then immediately hares off after the nearest enemy ship, and fires... rockets.
Furthermore, I can capture a potentially limitless number of ships inthe course of a large battle, and I never run out of crewmen who are prepared to board something with shields in tatters, and zoom off to die in combat. Very strange.
Perhaps these things will be addressed in EV3; perhaps not. It doesn't bother me that much, since I'd choose playability over realism any time.

That's a very good point, and entertaining as well.

I'm glad it's this way because I wouldn't want to pay for there fuel. Gosh I already give them to many of my credits.

My guess is that when you capture something for your escort or hire one it's automatically epuipped with tons and tons of RAM scoops; therefore filling its tanks in mere seconds after a hyper jump. But this is only a theory, not a proven statement.

The best part of these phenomena has to be that your captured escorts never run out of fighters, making crescent and azdgari warships very handy escorts :). The AI has much better control over the fighters, often releasing them the moment you enter a system with hostile ships - even better with CWs as they also release plenty SADs, even when I'm just leaving the system again and haven't the time to do anything like that myself :).

You actually pay your escorts? I just capture mine.

Absolutely, paying escorts sucks up waay too many credits. In fact what I'll do if I have to buy escorts (say you're doing the huron mission in a Helian), once I leave orbit, I'll make the escorts hold position, and then release an escort, and board & disable it. I'll repeat until the fleet is mine.

YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT WHEN YOU CAPTURE A SHIP YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ITS ESCORT FEES?! GOOD LORD AND I'VE BEEN DOING IT THE HARD WAY!!!

This is beginning to annoy me.........I need to pay more attention to what name I'm posting something under!!!!

I do the same thing in that situation. You get the same escorts, and you only have to pay for them once.
