It may seem biased, but maybe the UE training school is the only training school that humans can take. Besides, it doesn't put you into the UE navy.
Next, so your going to call the Voinians having great armor a flaw. Well, what if I call hunter missles a flaw as the Voinians have nothing to counter them. Its the same case with the cresent, they have nothing to counter armor.
The cresent have nothing to counter armour because, in all their experience in warfare, they have had no need for it.
Common sense tells you to compare things eh.. Okay I need to put a nail in the wall and I have 2 tools a screwdriver and a hammer. The hammer is far more effective so the hammer must be the better tool.
Good example. If you were stupid and had no common sense, you would try and put that nail in with the screwdriver.

I think this argument, er uh, discussion is getting a little heated. I don't want to be gay and say "let's be nice to each other", but in reality it is a little uncomfortable for other people when a few of us are arguing amongst each other. Geez, lighten up.
P.S> The UE just plain rules, the Voinians suck, and all who follow the Voinians must be communists.

You're right, it is getting a bit dangerous. Everyone should calm down a bit.
Originally posted by widowmaker: **First, I'm not sure you read all my post, not only does it say that the voinian war was upon us but it says you just graduated from a UE training school. Now, that is clearly biased. Plus you cant get much of an argument that the Voinian cause was better. All I'm saying is, they were not "Ships from the depths of space.... with one intention... obliteration"
Finally, no, of course you couldn't be put into the book of world records as the most head-strong person ever, a decision like that would be far to subjective.
P.S. do I tell you what to do in your free time? I only tell you what to think

I was joking about the whole "spouse killing thing." A widow, fo course, is a person who was married but their spouse died. A "widow maker" is someone who (duh!) makes widows. To make a person a widow, you have to make their spouse die. If you make a person die, you kill them. Therfore, a "widow maker" is a person who kills other people's spouses.
I was only joking. No, I do not believe you actually kill other people's spouses.
Anyway...
As for the "bias" thing, all I have to say is the the Voinians DID start the war? How do we know? Read the intro- the only reason why the UE government was formed was so the humans could fight the Voinians! Want more proof? A while back, someone posted a topic called "EV:O- Cold War Satire?" In it, Peter Cartwright- the very man who wrote the entire plot to EVO Override- had a few comments to say. Among them was this- (i'm paraphrasing a little bit)- the UE is what might have happened if the Great Powers of the 19th century had been colonizing worlds instead of Africa and then some aliens had come (Peter expressed it better than I did) and started killing humans. Read it and see for youself. What it means that human-colonized space was divided between nations or planets and whatnot until the Voinians came and (most) of the human realized that they needed to be united if they were to be a match for the Voinians.
And as for the Voinians' intent not being obliteration, just what kinds of territorial changes do you get to do in their missions? Completely destroy two colonies! (Kelmaon and Verril Prime) Oh yes, and if the intro is so biased, then why does it mention the fact that some are sick of the UE government- and not in negative terms. It says (paraphrasing) some people that never saw a Voinian ship are having their kids taken to fight a war that means nothing to them. "And most of all, they are ruled by a distant Earth government." If the intro was UE-biased it would say something like those people being selfish or something.
Also, the hammer vs. screwdriver analogy is flawed when it comes to the UE ships vs. Voinian ships comparison. In a fair fight, the better man/ship/whatever wins. For example: There's two boxers: Joe and Bill. Joe can beat Bill when they box, but Bill suffers less injuries when he fights any other boxer than when Joe fights that boxer (i.e. when Bill fights Sam, he suffers less injuries than Joe does when Joe fights Sam.) By your standards, Bill is a better fighter than Joe.
That's all for now.
God bless,
UE Patriot

Yes, we should lighten up. It's just a game, everybody.
(at that last statement someone, somewehere gasps in disbelief)
first off, don't worry, i know that you were joking about the widowmaker thing (and I was aware of the name I was giving myself ). You dont need to explain it. One thing you must learn about me is that I'm boiling over the top of a very big pot with sarcasm. Actually, a funny story is that one person once thought I implying my sexual preferences.
Second, as I said earlier. Your not going to get a argument from me that the Voinian cause is better. I'm just saying that is that the evil Voinians did not mercilessly slaughter millions for self interest. Actually, I think if an observer saw aliens start killing humans I'd think they'd see it as a mercy killing.
Finally, no, my analogy isn't perfect but with all due respect I think its better than yours. In boxing there are rules and regulations. You fight someone and you rest for a week. It is when it is a free for all (a more realistic war) where everyone goes after everyone else. And then those damages add up. Then Bill is better then Joe.
Finally, if your flying a UE crusier it is easier to beat Voinians. Big deal, you'll find fighting anywhere else harder. The Voinian Crusier succeeds where the UE crusier fails, the UE crusier fails in most of the galaxy.
This brings up another question , people keep saying that the UE beats Voinians without asteriods. But, even though its pretty much agreed that hunters are useless in asteriods, nobody has tested the ships with them. And there are asteriods along most of the UE Voinian boarder.
P.S. i was under the impression that this was a laid back conversation

Um, about asteroids... they are only in affect on YOUR screen!! If your hunter missle manages to make it off the screen without hitting any asteroids, it has a nearly flawless chance of smacking your enemy's hull.. The only other way is for it to run out of range. Same with enemies, their shot can't be blocked until it makes it onto your screen, hence I hide behind asteroids a lot.. So would someone please test the UE vs. Vikimadiggies ships at varying distances???
------------------ Alas, I have begun to lose my faith in macs. I wonder how much longer until I succumb? AIM: StrikerDragon
I've seen a thing about asteroids: they are in fixed number in the screen (like in maelstrom) and one that "disappears" at one edge of the screen reappears at the opposite edge. But if one has a 640480 screen, and another a 800640 screen, and one another a 1024832 screen resolutions(I'm quoting from memory, don't say they are not exactly these numbers) the "density" of asteroids won't be the same: tne one with the 640480 screen will se the Voinians be better than the UE because there is "more" asteroids, and that really affects the game (my monitor can handle the 3 resolutions). I should tell Matt of this problem, and that can trouble this topic. And stop arguing with the Intro!
------------------ M'enfin! Y'a personne qui parle franรงais ici?
A hewman hunter missle has a flawlwss chance of hitting a ship? In some of the more dense asteriod systems the hunter missles hit only about 40% of the time (give or take 20%). The problem is that they just move so slow that they stay on your screen for a while increasing the chances that a asteriod will smack into it. Yes, someone should definstly test this. But keep in mind that the speed has a lot to do with it. Set the speed to 225% and they dont launch the missles anyway.
