Well, y'all don't have to wait for me... I'll be concentrating on setting up the universe for now; perhaps you can start sketching out some of the storylines - you won't be able to go into details with what we've got now, but some basic scenarios and a way to tie them all together in such a way that they all connect to the books, and some minor storylines as well, plus a number of random missions.
Meanwhile, I've got some more planet scenes, some extra worlds I came up with (or ideas for them) and a first usable sketch for the Ouster defensive (I keep saying "Amnion defensive" - that's what I get for "borrowing" stuff from other books I guess :)) I suggested earlier; I'll upload them somewhere and e-mail you the links as soon as I've added the necessary annotations. As for the serious work (universe layout and such), I haven't had the time to do much (warned ya) but I'll keep at it, don't worry.
All in all, expect things to be a bit slow on my side for the next month or so, though - got some other things to get out of the way first. But after that I'll have a week off and the opportunity to put in some more working hours.

I've halved the size and set it to "loop" on my desktop, and it looks quite good. Initially I was thinking more of something vaguely Vell-Os-like, or something that looked more like a small, local space-time distortion ("ripple in the fabric of reality" kind of thing)... but the longer I watch this, the better it looks. I say we go for it.
Hmm... one suggestion: maybe it would look even better with some kind of crystal ball effect around it? Some almost invisible forcefield, perhaps just a slight distortion/reflection of light, that becomes more solid/visible when you fire at it(=shield glow) ? Then again, maybe not of course. Any thoughts?

P.S. Finally finished setting up (on stable server this time..) the eggdrop for #hyperion on irc.ambrosia.net (got permission long ago) and it should be there 24/7, it has some handy scripts I installed such as rules for the channel, which are basically no flaming people for no reason and such (!rules), information stuff such as !what (!what hyperion is a example I put in), !icq, !email etc.., a little news system for announcing news whenever something new is to announce, and a few other handy things
And finally after all that.., who has IRC, and if you do what would be a good time for all of you so that we can get together and start pulling some of this together? As for me pretty much anytime after 2pm pac everyday

Just a note: Have you tested this idea in Nova? In EVO anyway when you give the player an outfit that makes each jump take a long time, like 100 days or whatever, the game locks up for a few moments as soon as the player finishes making the jump (After the white flash). The longer the amount of days a jump takes, the longer the freeze up after a jump is. Perhaps this is becuase after each jump the game has to calculate what the date is and the probabilities of all the oops resources occuring and whatnot or something. Not sure if this is the case in nova, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it was.
The halts to gameplay, indistinguishable from freezes aside from the fact that they are temporary, would be quite annoying. In EVO if I remember correctly the highest you can go before it would become annoying would be about 30-50 days I think.
Well school is about to start so i might actually get in the mood to work on something for this plug...anyway...shade i also made a webboard...(url="http://"http://68.6.22.245/~cerd/phpBB2/")here(/url)...it is completely finished and up and running...well maybe not completely finished but you can register and everything...so check it out...dosn't really matter which board we use but mine is ready now so i think we might as well use it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's been procrastinating.
Anyway, I did start working on the galaxy map and came up with some basic sugs, outlines on the different ship types etc... mostly random stuff, but things are beginning to take shape inside my head. (about sodding time too, I guess).
Since shade's forum seems to be offline, I'll just start posting in yours.
