Hi all. I was trying a "do everything" pilot, or as near to it as I can get (I've never been able to complete more than one Strand, though there are people who seem to have done this somehow--any tips?).
But where I stand now is pretty strange. I'm a Role Model at both Earth and Voinia, and most of their associated worlds. However, Valos and Aludra both have me as a criminal and I get attacked on sight there. This happened as soon as I helped complete Paaren Station--instantly and inexplicably, I became a criminal there at that point. It's so screwed up that the UE sent me with an honor guard for something, and the UE ships that were already there got in a fight with the UE ships that were assigned as my honor guard.
The systems listed as UE Frontier government also still have me as a criminal, and doing missions up through destroying the Voinian dreadnought and doing Frontier Express missions and such doesn't seem to affect this.
Even dominating Outpost Topel and beating the dreadnought did not cause the Voinians to dislike me, though.
I helped the Voinians destroy Kelmaon, but when I landed on Emalghia, they told me I was still welcome, and I hoped to start that missions string, but no go. I tried dominating it and its moons, but still no missions (how does being a Usurper affect getting missions?). Any way to still get them?
I'm in the Free Huron string, but here's the problem: I am currently assigned to find a pirate ship in the Yelts system, but it is never there. This may have something to do with the fact that Yelts system is currently uninhabited, as Gorky was destroyed in a mission string I did previously. This mission can't be aborted.
Worst of all: I was in the Find Anna Balashova missions, but when I was supposed to board the Nadir to retrieve her, the stupid Matt Burch ship flew in and blew it up (I kid you not). It said the mission was failed, and now I just get nothing: no fail text on any planet bar I can find or anything, no new related missions from anywhere It just left me hanging. Anyone know of anything I can do to set this straight? I don't even know how this would make a lot of sense, since I see UE Cruisers around already...
Any ideas, comments or suggestions? Is it normal for the story to get this twisted in on itself? BTW, I'm playing Override for Nova, but with no plugins other than a graphical one.
First of all, welcome to the Boards! I sincerely hope you have a nice stay here.
Now for your problem. I would have to say that it is not normal for the story to get this twisted, but then again it isn't normal for someone to do every string, either. Congratulations on getting thus far!
The only way I can think of to fix your problem would take a lot of work and some experience with Mission Computer and/or EVNEW. You'll have to make a new mission that doesn't replace any other missions and simply sets/unsets certain bits to get things back to normal. On the topic of bits, there are most likely a few that are preventing you from getting the Emalghion string. This being because you decimated Kelmaon for the Voinians.
Good luck!
^Well, I recognize that really one must play through the game multiple times to experience all the stories, and I want to be clear that it is not my goal to "cheat" (modify missions, use a plug-in, or anything) to get around that. It was only a specific goal of this pilot character to become hated via working for Renegades, fight for the Voinians against the UE that hated me, then eventually betray the aliens and go to work for the UE after buying a Fake ID. Sounds operatic in scope, no?
(For a similar dynamic, I had also hoped to complete one Strand's missions and then go to work for another, but as I said, I haven't had much luck getting that to work. Did everyone who did this use a plug-in or something, or is there a "legitimate" way?)
I was really just hoping anyone had tips on picking up a new Strand string, finishing the Free Huron missions, or finding Anna Balashova. I'm quite sure those last two shouldn't have gotten hung up the way they did...I thought I at least remembered fail text of some kind on Knox for if Anna died. It's all Matt Burch's fault! (The ship.)
I was hoping maybe it was a known problem that the pirate ship I am supposed to hunt down in the Free Huron string is not where it was reported to be, though by this point I have looked around quite a bit of the galaxy for it.
Odd, after looking through the files again, I don't remember Gorky being destroyed. Only New Alcatraz. How did you destroy Gorky?
As for the Nadir being slaughtered by Matt Burch, you should have just simply reloaded your pilot so the mission was no longer failed and then went and disabled the Nadir, rescued Anna Balashova, and most likely have no interference from Matt two times in a row.

You can do two Strands simultaneously, but not both Azdgari and Zidagar, if memory serves. The trick is to start the first mission of one, then start the first mission of another, then finish both first missions before their deadlines. You'll need a fast ship and no escorts to do it on time. After that, there are no bit checks to prevent continuing multiple strands. It's only the short deadlines on the first missions that prevent Zid and Azd from being done together.

I believe that occurs during the Human Renegade string.
That explains it. The renegade strings, both Human and Crescent (if there is one) have eluded me every time I play EVO.

As mentioned, I was trying not to cheat. I was prepared to accept consequences for failing the mission (usually one need only get it again). This time, however, I got nothing. I still could swear there is supposed to be fail text for that one.

Thanks for this advice--it works! Now the only thing stopping me from continuing the mission strings is the fact that both sides still hate me enough to shoot at me on sight.
Some ships have an inherent government. When you fly one of those, governments that are enemies to the inherent government of your ship will attack you on sight.

This is a relatively simple fix in Mission Computer. You need to find the mission string (#191) and switch the system from the old Yelts (#181) to the new empty one (#434).
