Ah, here it is. As you can see the ship models are all the same original ones just they're now bigger, 3D, 16-bit and have some additional layers (engines, lights etc). It's slightly out of date now though - since then I've fixed the Zidara sprite (it's a little jaggedy in the shot) and added new station sprites (a little bigger and 16-bit).
Holy s###, those ships are huge.
I use the origional version, but I still appreciate the post.
please say there is another place to download it. Im getting .1kbps. its been almost a day now.

Has that minor little AI glitch with UE forces using rockets been fixed?
Uhh, you'll have to explain a bit more. UE use rockets, yes, that's because their ships come with them.

Yup

Sorry but no. I'm sure it's not supposed to be that slow though. I'll check it out. How far through are you?
it was stuck more than half way thru (like 7.9 mb and 8.3) but it was moving at 93 bytes/sec. YES THATS BYTES.
One other thing, is there a plug that lets me sell my escorts (like in nova)
You should do one piece at a time rather than both together (both pieces work fine on their own - part 2 is the ship sprites and part 1 is everything else). Try pausing and resuming the download. You can always sell your escorts by hailing them and pushing S (I think) but with Facelift you will actually be able to see the button and click it with the mouse.
(EDIT) Okay I've just been informed that there is indeed a problem with internet speed and may in fact be NZ-wide. No idea on when it might resolved but you can read a bit about it here.

OK. Someone should write a plug-in converter (similar to the pilot file converter) so people can convert files from EVO to EVN. I would write it, except I have no skills whatsoever in writing code, or anything like that.
I don't think that would work because the game engines are so different.

but there is a pilot file converter...
There seems to be some confusion surrounding this port.
This is not an official port, nor it is update of the official port. It is a seperately made port, done by a third party, that was incorrectly labelled "EV Nova Override 1.0.1".
For the time being, the port has been placed into the plug-ins sections and renamed "Guys EV Nova Override Port", so that users aren't confused between this new port and the older official version. There will be an update of the older, official version in the near future.

I would have appreciated it if you had consulted me before changing the name and description <_<. Just FYI, the description originally clearly stated that it was unofficial but pipeline removed that word. And now the links to it don't work. I also fail to see anyone getting confused about this. And what exactly do you mean by "the time being"? You're being very uncooperative about the whole thing, Mikee.

What he means is that you should reupload a new version with a description that's somewhat more accurate.
You told me that this was version 1.0.1. What I didn't know is that this isn't even vaguely based on Mikee and Tom's work, and that Mikee is most definitely still working on the Override port.
I don't appreciate not being told the full story, so Mikee has my blessing to do whatever is required.
Dave @ ATMOS
Ah, apologies for confusing you pipeline, I didn't realise what implications the name might have. It actually did start from the official port but in the end I redid most of the two override data files. The 1.0.1 label was to indicate that it's an improvement rather than just my take on what the port should be like. It is intended to be an update to the original if only by means of having less bugs. If I had been asked I could have quickly and easily provided a new name and description - I don't particularly like what it says now but I guess it'll do.
I was not aware that Mikee was definitely still working on the port - I did attempt to co-operate with him to get an official updated version underway but he didn't seem interested in the work I had done. I would still be quite happy to work with Mikee or whoever to make this happen.

I guess in general we just need to remember that no matter how necessary you might think an update is, releasing a modification of someone else's work with an official-sounding name can be a bit insulting at the least.
I suggest you discuss this in PMs with Mikee, i don't think this debate is particularly suited to a public thread.
Well, whatever the case, it is rather nicer than the original port - feels just like the real thing, ahh it has been too long :). Just one thing that I'm noticing right from the get-go: I'm getting lots of UE deliveries for less than 10 tons - this never happened in the original Override. The speed is much more like the glacial original though ... very cool.
Haha, well, sure the UE uses their rockets..
.. extreamly horribly, as in they fire them at the same range they fire off hunter missiles. It's upsetted the balance between the Voinian Frigate, which is now a somewhat tougher target now that it utilizes its turrents, and the UE Destroyer, which now doesn't stand a cold chance in hell against such a target. As such, any player joining a fight between the UE and Voinians will basically be standing alone.
The UE Carrier is now a considerable threat, however. Still useless against a Voinian Cruiser, though, which now romps the battlefield, utterly invincible.

Again, you are perfectly welcomed to resubmit it, calling it whatever you like, with whatever description... so long as it doesn't confuse people that it is an alternative port and not an update of the original If you had borrowed any elements from the original port, it is considered ethical/respectful to give credit (via Read Me, description, et cetera)

As I had mentioned in my PM to you, as well as on the Nova board, I will be doing an update of the EVO port. If you or anyone else has any questions or concerns, you are free to PM me and ask, as I said in our last PM exchange. I had worked delayed recently due to moving and a new jobs.

As Mikee said, it has been attempted and one of them is still in progress on the dev corner where you can download it and complain about bugs

Never happened in the original? checks it out ... Right you are - you seem to have discovered another bug in the EVO engine. The quantities should be random between 5 and 15 but instead they're between 10 and 20.
@alien5672, on May 3 2006, 08:15 AM, said in New EV Nova Override port:
Well that would be due the AI difference which we are unable to control. Voinian ships are slow though so firing from range should still work reasonably well enough. I have noticed that Voinians tend to win battles but they still get pretty beat up.

A bug in the EVO engine? OMG you mean we've been unintentionally restricted all these years ? Well maybe I'll just make an effort to get used to the 'new' way then ... it's just that I'm conditioned from Nova to avoid any delivery of less than 10 tons lest I end up in the Vellos string lol :p.
I'll keep on playing when I can bear taking breaks from WoW, see what else I can find :).
Well maybe we should just call it a discrepancy between the bible and the observed behaviour ;). The way it's supposed to work is you specify a value (10) and then the actual value will be that value +/- 50%. So it could be made to be closer to the original by putting a value of 15 which would give a range of 7.5-22.5 (or 8-23, assuming normal rounding).
