Ah, I see, not a bad solution, when it's absolutely needed. Thanks much.

One final thing... maybe this is more obvious and I've just overlooked it, but...
How do I make a barrier that neither the player nor a fired projectile can go through? I can use the access grid on the map to stop the player from walking somewhere but enemies call still shoot right on through walls...
Any ideas appreciated.
Ah thanks. Using the Z key stops the player so it make make a "turret" effect.
Well, I tried putting a 4-directional, simple animation in for the projectile and that solved the dropping problem... I swear I tried that before (and the tutorial says projectiles are supposed to work fine on 360ş) but I'm glad to have that problem gone.
As for the other, I'm startin to think maybe there isn't a way.
Some things I can't figure out
Lately I've decided to take up Coldstone again, (still hoping that they can fix the OS X bug), but it must have been a while since I used it because I can't figure out two very significant things:
The first thing I can figure out is how to make the mouse click ONLY make the character attack, and not move. I still want the arrows keys to allow the character movement, but the mouse I'd like only for long-range weapon firing. Sort of like in that game Kill Monty, if that helps describe it.
Is there a way to do this?
Secondly, I still have this problem where projectiles fired at the horizontal come out at a slope, like so:
Number of downloads: 13
The red line is the path the (plant) projectiles actually take, the blue line is how I would like them to fire.
I know it's possible to have them move straight; I've seen it in a game someone else made with CS and I tried the demo of.
Help greatly appreciated.
I'd like to sieze these creative juices while they're still flowing.
No luck. It still slants downward when I face left or right. Very strange.
Ok, I think I'll be able to provide more detail:
The gun is a player-used weapon (unless I can get it working, there's not much point in making enemies yet)
It is set to fire "Bullet from caster to target" at a speed of 8 and range of 10
The animation is an 8 directional one. I'm not real good at all on how to use animations, so I have 8 frames of the same graphic (a premade one of rocks that I'll replace once I get this working) and each box next to each frame's name is checked.
A collision thing is set on 25 radius, and the popup menu towards the bottom says "0 - Default" and has no other options.
That's everything. The bullets are fine (fly straight) up and down, as well as in all diagonals. Just due east and due west do they slant strangely towards the ground. I'd like it if, when I pressed x to fire, they went completely straight. I've seen it in other games like the Mechanical Division or whatever the mech one was called.
Thanks much, that's very helpful
I just need to know now how to stop these projectiles from slanting to the ground...
I'm still very bad at using Coldstone... lately I'm trying to get a projectile type weapon (a gun) to work but I can't.. the projectiles always slant towards the ground as the fly through the air when I face left or right... How do I fix this?
Oh, and I'm also interested making a weapon where you can't walk while you use it... say like a gun that needs to be placed and secured on the ground. Is there a way to make it so the player can't walk and the arrow keys or mouse can still be used to aim/shoot?
Sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advance
I have been building my game off the Medieval plug-in, and I will eventually change it to be a completely different game. While in the process of doing this, I have encountered a few problems with spell casting.
Whenever I select a spell from my spell book (still the plug-in default) and press cast, I find that my character will cast the spell and then run to the target, as he would with a normal click. If I send a ball of flame at my opponent, and I run with it towards him each time, I will go crazy. How do I cast a spell and stand still in one place?
The spell casting by choosing from a spellbook is a very slow method, and you need to do it each time you want to cast the spell. Is there a way to have a spell set to a quick key so each time I, say, right-click, it will cast at the target I clicked without any dialog?
These may be difficult questions, but I appreciate any feedback.
I have enjoyed using Coldstone so far, but lately I have run into a major problem in my graphics.
When creating .pct or .png files using AppleWorks or Photoshop, I can easily put them into my map or on an item through Coldstone, but when I go to test my game, they don't show up!!! It's just empty space where the picture should be. I have tried .pct, .png, and tiff files, and none work. If someone would please help me with this issue it would allow me to continue game production. Much thanks
---Thanks to Rubber Ducky, Pilky, and Debra, I no longer have this problem. Thank you much for your posts---
