QuickTime Problems

Ok, When I click the quicktime enabled checkbox in the prefs, it checks, but when i go back in, it is "greyed" althouth you can't see it like in windows, and you have to click 2 times to get it checked but i won't stay checked, implying that i can't use quicktime? Any suggestions?
Also, are there quicktime movies built into the game itself or do you have to download them??

first thought that comes into my head, do you have the "use quickdraw" box checked? make sure its not... so it uses quicktime instead of quickdraw, just a thought. try it, then respond....

Sorry about replying to a fairly old post, but these guys need a little help.

First of all, there aren't any quicktime movies included in the original scenario. Several plugin makers have included movies in their plugins, however.
Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale stand out in my mind, and there are many others.

Depending on which version of EVO you're using, the Quicktime checkbox doesn't stay clicked, even though the preference is still set. (you should probably update to 1.0.2, for this and other reasons.)

Also, the Quickdraw checkbox has nothing to do with the Quicktime checkbox. It's just a slightly more compatible (and slower) drawing method that may solve some problems on certain machines. Usually, you can just keep this box unchecked.

As for deadboy's last comment, It would not be practical to use quicktime for the purpose quickdraw is used in EVO. Quickdraw is used to draw the graphics in real-time on the screen. If quicktime were used for the same purpose, the user would have no real control over what happens in the game. Quicktime is used for short video clips.

I hope this helps.

Umm...no, if you're playing the original scenario (UE v.s Voinians). Have you been reading the posts? C'mon...

Get a plug-in like Frozen Heart or Femme Fatale see movies while playing the plug. These movies aren't the super duper cool action flicks like Spacebattles either. Just a simple animation.

They're all available on the site here. Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale are quite good. They force you to follow a plot and there is just a hint of proselytizing in them, but other than that they're good quality. I think if Martin Turner, the guy who created them, keeps at it he'll end up with a really awesome plug eventually. There are really interesting ships and scenarios in these plugs and the fastest, though dishearteningly uncolossal, fights I've ever seen.

If all you want to do is test your quicktime write a mission that plays a movie at the end that you have on your computer, then you'll know (I got this hugh one I played and I decided not to put it in a plug in but at least you'll know.)
