I was just thinking, as I make Discovery (a TC, very good at that! :p), when I was thinking what would you like. I may not change much, but if anything particular is mentioned I might. Discovery will host:
Stander features:
All new graphics All new sounds & music New galaxy complete with missions, races ect. A new and deep plot and story-line Full spell checking Heavy beta testing (I shall be recruiting around 15:eek De-bugged (about 5 debuggers:eek

High galaxy change High amount of gövts About 50-60 minor story lines, and about 10 major ones Both EVO 1.0.1, EVO 1.0.2 and EV 1.0.5 compatability New way of starting
Explanaitions:
High galaxy change: Very many missions will change things. About 75% of non-reacurring missions (ie. raids, cargo missions ect.) will change a little bit (or a lot :p) of the galaxy. This will lead to play being totaly evolving around the player, making for a deeper and more interactive plot.
High amount of gövts: This doesn't mean '50 seperate gövts!' or anything like that. Above, it said that many systems and stellars will be changed by missions very often. Well, this merges in with that. There shall be 3-5 of each government. However, each one will have a major difference. For instance; gövt x is at war with gövt y. The player does a mission for gövt z that pisses x off. So, I make VisBits that replace all of x's systems, with a new goverment, with exactly the same stats, exept that x is at war with z. You see? It will change so fast, making for very exciting, changing, and realistic play.
About 50-60 minor story lines, and about 10 major ones: You see above, well this will also merge in wih it. Since so many things are always changing, it will open many storylines for the player. Also, a new miniture thing is that even if you complete missions, it doesn't mean you will win. You can win all of the missions for a particular race but you happen to be in a storyline where that race is doomed. Cool, eh?
Both EVO 1.0.1, EVO 1.0.2 and EV 1.0.5 compatability: This basicly means that you can play Discovery in the format you prefer. Either the stander EVO 1.0.1, or the new features of EVO 1.0.2. Or, you could just go back to the wonderful old version of EV if that's what you prefer. It is simply to give you the choice.
New way of starting: I cannot say much on this, as it is revealing some of the story of the game (the above is more technical stuff). Basicly, in almost all plugs you start with the humans very powerful or big. Well, here, it is only a few decades in the future. Humans are pretty weak and small. You are a young pilot that has been qualified for exploration. You are told to find places to colonise and alien races to find. The beginning will already host about 4-5 minor (yet very large in normal EVO terms) storry-lines for you. It is for you to get used to the way the game works, and all the new features become clear. With all this, only a fraction of tha galaxy is availible. The excuse for this is that the humans have very primitive and weak interstellar engines, so you can only travel a tiny way (the real reason is that you can get used to the way the game goes). Don't think this just gives one particular style of play. You may betray your race and jion with any race. In fact, whereas in EV and especialy in EVO, there are quite a lot of races where only a little mission string is availible. For Discovery at least one 'central objective' is availible to every race. This will make play last for very long.

I think Discovery will be a more than average, if not exellent, plug-in. The Graphics may not be as good as MAGMA, and its missions may not be as clever as Frozen Heart, but it is garanteed to satisfy and hopefully will be out in a few months (I expect around 6-8 months for developement, and then maybe another 1-2 months for beta testing and debugging). ~Gav

A shame you didn't conduct the 'full spell checking' on your message. And anyway, spell checked =/= good grammar. sigh Okay, in fairness I've seen worse, but bad English in plugs makes me c.r.i.n.g.e.
Very, very few teams have the patience, the attention to detail, the time, or even the arrogance to tackle a total conversion plug-in. Start much, much smaller, get something finished, and then worry about bigger projects later.

OK. First thing wrong on your part. I am not the spell checker, I have someone to do that for me, and also, I wasn't asking you to critizise my speeling or grammer in m message. Stick to the point. Secondly, you and a lot of people have underestimated me. I've made around 20 un-realeased, non-cheat plugs. I'm not in-experienced. This may be my first TC, but not my first plug. Thirdly, this has been thought about for 4 months. I have a team of around 10, all with different skills. I am not messing about. I've been slaving at the bloody plug for hours every day. I should be out clubbing, sniffing lines and ucking girls, and instead I'm stuck in my flat like some poor sod working on this. I'm serious, so don't mess me about. I know what I'm doing. Look about 4-6 pages back on the EV developers corner and a little will be explained. Fourthly, you didn't actualy comment on if you think the plug sounds good or will be good when released. If Gave-in can't be bothered to finish his 'twenty little plugs', he's not going to finish a big project, is he? How many times have we seen people promising a total replacement plug on this web board?
I still say, start small. Quality, not quantity. With a set of small plugs, people might be able to choose to leave out a buggy one, an ugly one, a poorly balanced one or whatever. You can't do that with a single, humungous plug. Even if it gets finished.
This Gavin fellow wanted to know what people look for in a total conversion. As I have endeavoured to make clear, a prime requisite for any piece of software is that it actually gets finished. A 50K plug that works is better than a 500K plug that never gets released.
Then we have the problem of conflict with favourite plugs and plot elements. In a total replacement, where does ROtV fit? Or BtC, or all those other excellent little plugs. To declare that you're able to replace the whole EV:O universe with something superior is arrogant... and quixotic.
Just my two Voinian cents' worth.
Oh, and regarding the swearing thing... what can I say? Except... Happy 14th birthday, perhaps. sigh

Ahem. Gav, not Gave. But I can be bothered, I just would rather do something else, that's all. You may have seen it hundreds of times, and I may be no different, but I don't know how just putting it down will actualy encourag (sp?) it. Do you want a bloody TC or not? It is well underway with a story line, webboards, a solid crew ect. ect. It will be tested thouroughly for bugs, uglyness and all the other shĄt. Don't you worry about that.

If all you can do is put ambitious projects down, how will any ever get finished? Oh yes, and the plug is already 350k+ and we've only just started.

It will be better than those, and you know why? Because the are fantastic, but neither were worked on with a team of 10, with around 14 months of work put into them. Yes, it is arrogant, but arrogance is what gets things done. I would argue on the last one, but I don't know what quixotic means.

Two things: Most kids, and (b)all(b) working class kids as myself, know swear words at about 7 or something. So what does it matter? Oh, and it isn't my 14th birthday, it's my 15th.
