So the rumor is that there is an EV3 being made. Doesn't it get boring playing with AI I think EV3 should be an online game. That is if they are starting from scratch (new graphical engine / gameplay) It looks like it is. It seems possible to make an online EV what do you think? EV Online or EV3?
First off, it's not rumor...it was confirmed a few weeks ago by andrew in a Maccentral intreview.
Secondly, of course everyone wants an EV online, but it isn't gonna happen by Ambrosia at least...if you want something like it try Parsec or Terminus..they arent done yet, but look like a 3d game like EV and also Multiplayer.

Alright, I don't know who started it, but somebody seemed to make everybody think that EV3 would have a completely new engine. As far as I know, this is absolute bullshĄt. There will be numerous improvements. but its just improvements not an actual start from scratch, new engine. Could Matt Burch or andrew confirm this?

Okay, first, that has nothing to do with this topic. Second, Marathon, though old, IS NOT DEAD. It is being remade for UT, and it has gone open source. Halo is another story, though it would be a bad move to cancel that for Mac.

About Terminus (to Summonor)...it isn't worth the d/l in my opinion...I was not at all impressed with it. It freezes my computer often, isnt very fun and is even a tiny bit jumpy with my 400mhz G3...if you don't have state of the art hardware, it isn't going to be that great...

Actually, sorry to burst your ignorance ;), but EV3 will have a completely new engine, look at the EV3 page in the upcoming section, and no, it will not be multiplayer, even if that would be the coolest thing. Too bad. Maybe their waiting for everyone to get better internet access, then it could be enjoyable for everyone.

Hmmm, still not really sure. I went there to double check and it said it was an update and they rewrote the graphics engine; they didn't say the whole thing...

The graphics are the core of the game, you rewrite the graphics engine, you might as well rewrite everything else. The other stuff is easier, because you don't have to worry about speed as much, just making sure the right dialog pops at the right time is all.

The mission engine has been significantly overhauled as well. Expect good stuff.
I hope you understand, but we won't be giving out any more info/screenshots on the game until it's closer to release -- this was just to let you know we're working on it, and we think it's gonna be very cool.

Heh, I'd have to stick my neck out and disagree there...
There is an amazing amount of stuff crammed into EV; enough that it easily eclipses just coding a new sprite engine.
