All these newbies are getting me down. They always come up with hundreds of new EV/O multiplayer games, and they always put read on their subject lines. I mean, can't we just tell them not to put read on their subject lines (notice how they never get many replies) and how EV/O multiplayer is impossible?

Not impossible, but definitely a tad more complex than anyone who hasn't done a fair bit of development would reckon. Beyond the technical issues, there are also gameplay issues -- but I'll leave that for y'all to debate.

See they do like the idea of multiplayer. If only they would do it.
Anyway, Hornet, you can write a law against everything that is annoying, and still people would find ways to annoy people, and not be breaking these rules. However write laws saying what people can do, and everything else is against the law, then theres no way around it. So how this translates here is, set a good example and people will see who gets attention, and let the bad people make all the noise they want, we don't have to listen to them, and the newbies will follow the light.
Sorry if that made NO sense, but it might have so, I'll post it.

Hey, people. I've got an idea. I'm not a programmer, so I have no idea how well this would/wouldn't work.
Here's how it goes: Write a program which has an interface just like EVO. The game has no system jumping, no stellars, just one system. The game would be networked, and players would have the option of either selecting any ship with it's factory outfit, or they could load a pilot file and get the ship/outfit off of that.
The game would probably be pretty fun, and at the least would settle disputes about "which ship is the best" and such. I know I would play it anyway...
Maybe someone who knows more about these things could tell me if this is pheasable.

terminus is just around the corner. demo is said to be out next week..

Newbies arn´t a bad thing. To all newbies: Please don´t put "read" in your subjekt, just tell what it is, ok? That would be realy kind, note that I´m not saying that you can´t do that or that it is aginst the board rules, it´s just a simple request. Multiplayer ain´t bad, but it´s not all that important in my opinion(sp), after all we aren´t enemies here. But as I said, I hold nothing aginst it. And if you want to create a topic about it/request, then only do so if you can give them good reasones for making it happen. Cya all.

You should wear a bandanna mat. I reckon matt gets all the ladies. Are you the stylish suave sweettalker or the sensitive caring guy matt? OR maybe a bit of both! Matt sez: "hey babe you look hot enough to burn yow!! By the way, can you hold a stimulating convetsation?"

Since we're talking about newbies (and for some odd reason Matt Burch!!?!!) then lets talk about me! That's right! I'm a newbie! First of all I must remind you that you were all newbies once. Every single one of you. I am an active defender of all newbies. Though some are annoying (coughwillcough(no offence ;))) I would like you to name the person who says read on their post. I havn't seen any of that. Besides, if you want to say that, just give them a little hint or post on that strand instead of making a whole new strand.
Making a new strand to complain about newbies? Now that's annoying.

Wait, we're confusing newbies and idiots. Some of the annoying newbies have been with us nearly a month or more, and they are still called newbies? People who come to the board, then gain respect and power (like me. Heh, j/k. I'm really an old timer in disguise...) aren't considered newbies anymore. We DO, however, consider people newbies when they are just plain morons. Newbies should only be considered newbies if they haven't been on longer then a week or so, I mean, how long does it take to learn the simple edicute (or lack of?) on this board, such as reading other posts on a certain subject before spamming the board with yet another pointless topic.
I call on you not to blur the line between complete fool and newbie. Wraith, mx big kestral (thank god he left) etc. have (or had) been with us a good chunk of time. They're not newbies anymore. They're just annoying, unlikable people.

I'm a geezer see, bit tasty, bit mad, bit whurr, bit yeah. Y'know.
Yes, there is a BIG difference between newbies and idiots. If you have been here for a year and then act like a moron, you wouldn´t call that person a newbie, would you? I consider the time you are a newbie longer than a week, but there are "differnet grades" of newbie. (you know what I mean?). Newbies are welcome, but ass***** arn´t. Some time ago the board was flooded by topics like this, it has improver, a lot, but sadly some good people left before it changed. Cya all.

Really? I would have thought a month or so. Well I've been here for 2 weeks. What grade would I be now?
In that case, I renounce my newbieness. I will still defend all newbies but I will now be known as a semi-regular :).
------------------ Feel the Jive ------------------ (Insert cool quote here)
I mean like "fresh" newbies, and those that have been here for a week or two. I wouldn´t call it semi-regular, just....not that "fresh". hmmm, I got a weird way of explaining(sp) things! I consider the time it takes to become a regular about a month, but it can vary. It depends on how often the person is here. If he is here very often, the it can be a bit shorter. Most of the time, it´s a month. So you are half-way now! Cya all. (if this post offended you, sorry, it wasn´t meant that way)

People who come to the board for a sole month and then expect to be regulars, it just doesn't work that way. Sorry. In my opinion time has a little to do with it, they have to be here a while, I know some people who've been here for like since late 96 when the disc board was set up. And have been playing longer, and I'm sure theres one of them, if they were still around, who I would call a newbie. Simply because some people just don't get it. I would say that being a "regular" you would need to be here more than 3 months, because a wide variety of things happen during that time, and a regular knows about most of these things. What's happening behind the scenes and all.
So you may start to feel like you know everything, but not yet, keep at it, positive attitude and all that, and of course a defining personality that isn't rude or mean. Then you can become a regular.
As for oldie, well you've got to be here for a few years before EVO at least.
Been with EV since Stormbringer. Does that give me my 'oldie' status?
