Theres some kind of key that I need to get into the crypt at the mountain. Help would be appreciated.

You get the key at the top level of the Learning Tree. You need to complete the Bleeding Forest/Ring of Evil quest in order to get access to the top level. In order to get the blereding forest quest, you need to complete the shield. Cheers!
