Escort cargo (no, not raw snails)

I've noticed something odd. When I hire an escort, my cargo space goes up. I'm using the escort's cargo, of course. But when I capture one, my cargo space doesn't change. Am I shooting off their cargo tanks when I disable their ships, or is this a bug?

While I'm talking about escorts, another question - can I switch ships whenever I want, or is the time of capture my only opportunity? Seems like I should be able to flit back and fourth at a whim, but I don't see a way. Am I overlooking something?

If you board Traders you'll get space, if you board Attack vessels (usually Renegades in my experience), you don't, but they do defend you.

The answers are; no, yes, there isn't one and no, in that order 😉

Cool, I'm actually starting to really enjoy this board format.

Capture a bunch of cresent warships and capture a Vonian Supply Ship 🙂

That should make for a proper fleet.

Make 7 - up yours

What's this thing with having up to 32 escorts? I have an Igazra which I use to capture renegades and such, but I can only have up to 6 escorts, even if I buy them. Do I have to capture specific ships or something?

Normally, you can only have 6 hired/captured escorts. However, there is a way around this, if you have a ship that uses fighters. Step one: deploy all your fighters. Step two: buy another ship identical to the one you are in. Repeat until you can't have any more. NOTE OF CAUTION: The fighters that were left out will become HIRED escorts and you won't be able to call them back into your ship or tell them to attack specific ships. Also, since this is done with fighters, none of them will give you any cargo.
One last note: make sure you have your freighters before you start, because you won't be able to get them afterwards.
