I've got a little dillema.
I work for the vionians, I have a UE carrier (somehow I managed to capture it in the very beginning of the game when I just had a shuttlecraft. My luck!) which I've upgraded enough that I'm happy with it until I can get the money for a vionian cruiser. However, I've just been approached by the Adzgari at south tip station. I'd like to work for them on this go-around, but the first mission has a time limit on it. Something like 20 days to make 12+ jumps with my ship. Is there any way I can do this mission without losing my carrier (escorts or something)? Would I be able to do this mission if I bought a Crescent Warship (something I don't want to do, but would)? Is there some cheater plug-in I could temporarily use to complete this first mission?

Buy an Arada, $1 million credits, makes jumps in 1 day. Is capable of defending itself, and has 40 tons of cargo and stacks of weapon space. Crescent Warship is well, not value for money is the nicest term I can use.
Yeah, but the point is that I don't want to lose my carrier.

It´s a way, I used it. It´s a plug-in called EV Warp Engines. It´s an outfit that makes your jumps only take one day! I used it for such a mission. Same reasone as you. I don´t remember where I found it, maby some one else does. Now you at least got the name of the plug! Hope that helped some.

There's also the guick jump plug which lets you buy stuff to take off hyperspace time. It might be fast jump or lightning jump, but I think it's quick jump.

It's quick jump. Quick Jump adds an outfit that makes jumps take 1 day, slow jump is the opisite (makes them take like a month or something) and Lightning Jump is completely diffrent, it makes it so that when you hit your jump key you almost instantly jump to the next system, but it doesn't change the number of days it takes.
P.S. if you have 5 million credits, get a Voinian Frigate, its WELL worth the money, it's got more space than the UE Carrier, it's faster, more menuverable, it's tougher, and it has more cargo space, need i say more? P.P.S. The Voinian Cruiser is WAAAAAYYYY cool!!! get one as soon as you can!

Hell, it may be powerful, but it is a slow as a molass in a cold day. Keep the frigate.

No way. The best thing to do (If you have tons of cash) is to buy a Voinian Frigate, disable a small ship, use it as your own (you get the Frigate as an escort), go back to Voinian space, buy a new Frigate, repeat until you have 6 Frigate Escorts. Then buy a Cruiser. They are soooooooo cool. If you turn the speed way up, get the upgrade and keep caps on, its even better. Even without that stuff its one of the best ships in the game. Especially in the crescent. Only bad part is you can't sell the bay. Still, you can capture any ship in the game (pretty much. I have 6 Igazra escorts.)
Oh yeah, and the UE Carrier SUX.

Yeah, the UE Carrier does seriosly blow, but the UE Cruiser, now there's a good ship.
