How can I make a fuel stop?

I'm stuck in a nebula without fuel or fuel scoops. I do have 12 million credits so I could easily buy another ship, but I don't have an escape pod. No ships travel in the area so I can't but fuel from someone else. How can I use ResEdit to create a fuel stop? The EVO bible didn't help very much. Is there any way I can edit the ship's data in my pilot file to give it fuel? If anyone knows, please E-mail me. (attan@ucdavis.edu)

Email me about that too. Any info on editing EVO pilot files would be spifflick

Actually, the plug I sent him didn't work, and I don't know anything about hacking pilot files.

you can't make a plug that puts a system in the nebula? (or is that what didn't work?)

If you have ResEdit it shouldn't be too hard to sort this out.

  • First, start the game up and check which system you're in and what planets it contains.

  • Next, use ResEdit (or the editor of your choice) to open up the spob resource for the planet. If you were anywhere but a nebula, I'd tell you to check for multiple systs (with different visbits set/unset by missions), but the nebulae only have one copy of each system, which simplifies matters.

  • Edit the flags for the spob. The planets in the nebulae are flagged as uninhabited, which is why you can't get fuel there (obviously). To change this, subtract two from the second-to-last digit.

  • Save the plug, close the editor, install and play.

The flags thing: it'll probably be set to 0$00000021. Change it to 0$00000001.
