First, don't use all caps, anyways, the tractor beam really can't help with disabled ships, it's just a little thing in the description. You can't get an Azdgari sield booster when you've done the Zidagar missions already.

Like Micah L said, don't write in all caps; it makes it harder to read.
Yes, the rescue disabled ships thing is just a description, but the tractor beam can still be usefull. As you get heavier and slower ships, it becomes harder to fight off those pesky small fighters, but if there are only a few, using the tractor beam, you can fire it at them to help hold it in place while you fire away at them since they can't shoot away. Same kind of idea with the repulsor beam, only with it you push them away so they can't hit you very well but you can pummel them.
In case you don't know, the cresent races (excluding the Miranu) are engaged in a three way war. Thus, if you fight for one side, the other sides are going to get very mad at you. Could you imagine say during the American revolutionary war, it was well known that you had fought for the Americans and killed many British soldiers, so you go over to Britain and ask if you could buy some ships and weapons from them. You think they would've let you? No. Same deal here. However, there is a plug-in called Triple-Agent. Although I've never used it, I hear it will let you work for all threee sides (although only one at a time). You could try downloading that from the archives.

Triple agent works very well, though may be incompatible with other plugs (eg F25). One word of warning, the author suggests that you do the missions in a certain order and this is important. When you see a file marked read me in your downloaded folder, in this case (and many others) it is advisable to do it

I don't agree that tractor beams are useless. When playing one of the Star Wars plugs, I like to get my hands on a nice large capital ship (Rebels: Mon Remonda cruiser, Imps: Star Destroyer or Super Star Destroyer :D). When I'm ion a huge fight, my fighters tend to get disabled. When they are I'll close in, grab'em with my tractor beam, and then board them to get them back. I do that with the enemy's fighters to if I have the right bay.
That strategy works on all plugs, BTW. I just used the Star Wars reference beacuse (esp. with the Super Star Destroyer) the fighters are weaker than some others.
