Hey, for my English class, I had to write a fable last night. It's kinda dumb, but I figured I'd post it because I used Ferazel names for the characters. In case you're going to accuse me of stealing the moral, the assignment was to build a story off of a moral, so I didn't make that up. I put lines inbetween the paragraphs.
There was once a very greedy chipmunk named Ferazel who lived with a group of similar chipmunks. These chipmunks were so obscenely covetous, that they hoarded light-brown acorns until there were no more in the land of Teraknorn.
One day, during the fall, Ferazel and his friends were out collecting acorns to be sure that none of the nearby squirrels got any. Unbeknownst to Ferazel, that same group of squirrels, lead by Queen Xichra, had been plotting for some time to overthrow the Acorn Baron (Ferazel as he was also known). Although perhaps not a coincidence, Ferazel happened upon a special, mystical acorn that very day.
Ferazel said to his closest friend, Geroditus, Look, I have discovered an enchanted acorn.
Amazing, gasped Geroditus in awe, this acorn, with its gold luster and black stripe must surely be magical! In all my life, I have only seen light-brown acorns. This acorn is surely meant for the Acorn Baron himself.
Ferazel, in agreement, took the acorn back from his companion and consumed it. Although it tasted nearly identical to the light-brown acorns he had always eaten, he detected a hint of almonds.
He told this to Geroditus, who then proclaimed, Almonds are a most wonderful nut! Only the wealthiest of chipmunks ever taste them.
Several days later, Ferazel discovered two more golden, black-striped acorns. These, too, he ate. Soon, Ferazel became obsessed with the golden acorns, and eventually would eat nothing but them. Mysteriously, more and more of the rare nuts were found every day.
Several days later, Geroditus found Ferazel lying in bed, sickened and pale. Ferazel said to him, Go, and collect me more golden acorns, for I cannot venture to find them myself.
Perhaps, friend, these acorns are to blame for your sickness.
If I do not eat acorns, then what am I to survive on?
Why, the light-brown acorns you have eaten all your life!
Pah! Those acorns appall me. I cannot imagine eating such a foul nut!
So, Geroditus, as a good friend, found Ferazel enough golden acorns to keep his stomach ever appeased.
Suddenly, Ferazel died one morning. An hour later, Queen Xichra appeared with a legion of squirrels. In a mocking laugh, she told the crowd of chipmunks of the successful arsenic poisoning of their leader. While the followers of the dead Acorn Baron stood aghast, Xichras forces overran the chipmunks. Xichra ruled Teraknorn from then on, and all of Ferazels light-brown acorns were hers forever.
Moral: That which is mine makes other peoples things seem strange.

I had to do something very similar, only I used chipmunks instead. It's an interesting plot, especially when Ferazel dies and Xichra prevails, but it entertained me for a few minutes.
Now that you've done your homework, go play the (url="http://"http://ninthkingdom.ferazel.net/download.html")Ninth Kingdom teaser(/url). And now that I've posted, I'm going off to bed like a good boy and think about what surprises I'll get on the first day of Christmas before drifting off to sleep.
