A last-second promotion for Ambrosia's Ferazel's Wand in MacAddict!
Check out #69 (the current one), and flip to page 15. I wish I had a scanner so I could provide you with the picture. If someone else has one at their command, I strongly urge you to scan it in for all to see this...erm, creation.

The Winners of the Spectacular Mac Gaming Contest
In conjunction with our January 2002 games issue, we gave away more than 50 games to the people who most creatively impersonated their favourite game characters. Here are the winners. -- NR
(Various people commended here. Blah blah blah)
HONOURABLE MENTION
Joseph W. Schwartz , Age 10: Ferazel from Ferazel's Wand.
Admittedly, the guy who got first prize -- a 14 year old who impersonated a character from the very good (url="http://"http://www.strangeflavour.com/home.html")AirBurst(/url) -- overdid himself. The guy shaved his head, painted his face white and stuffed himself in a beanbag chair in order to duplicate (url="http://"http://www.strangeflavour.com/Media/screens/ABscreen2.jpg")the guy in the upper-right hand corner(/url). Egads.
So...scanner help appreciated. End transmission.

I found it quite amusing. I didn't realize Ferazel had ten year old addicts.

My ten year old niece loves Ferazel's Wand. She can't progress past Fire In the Hole, but but she loves playing the other levels over and over. And actually, she played it on my computer when she was eight and I was beta testing. She even found bugs for me.
She's also played some of the new mascot levels developed by others and she's tried to make some levels of her own. Do I sound like a proud Auntie?

I'd offer to be an honorary uncle, but I'm a horrible uncle. What was the previous mention of Ferazel in MacAddict?

Somewhere. I have all issues of MacAddict except #3 (forgot to buy that one); a mention of FW could be anywhere in any of those.
All I can say is, it's there.

Ther's an issue where it talks about new shareware games in the powerplay section. FW is mentioned there.

Your nieces and nephews are going to be so confused...
I think I remember seeing something about it in the games issue.

MacAddict's very good in covering upcoming events as well as current noncommercial material. 'Tis a shame they have to do it in such a puerile manner though. It's like they hire kids straight out of preschool to write this stuff.
I think that's because many of them are straight out of college. I have seen a few things, especially in the last issue, that were quite well written.

The editors probably don't seem much better in retrospect...
Actually, the latest issue seems to be coming along okay.

It was really small in the magazine, so I've enlarged it.

Thank you for that scan, PCheese. Karma for you. I can see it a lot better myself now as well. The scan + enlargement turned out well, seeing there's no blur in the text or picture.
Good job.
