I wrote a small app the other day I thought those of you who play FW in Classic on OS X may be interested in. Here's the description:
Ever played a round of Ferazel's Wand in Mac OS X and noticed afterwards that it resized or moved around your Mail, Project Builder and other open windows? This bothered me somewhat, so the "Ferazel's Wand X Launcher" application (aka. "FW X Launcher") was born. It changes the resolution to 640x480x8 (256 colors) and then it proceeds to launch Ferazel's Wand. That way it prevents the Ferazel's Wand application from having to change the resolution first, and thus no resizing/rearranging of windows takes place.
Additionally, FW X Launcher also appears to have the nice side effect of hiding the dock, so there are no more ugly dock remnants to be seen while Ferazel is loading.
Version 1.0.1 fixes a serious bug that would cause the user to have to wait several minutes for Classic to start up. FW X Launcher now checks if Classic needs to be started and waits appropriately.

You can download FW X Launcher at (url="http://"http://www.clarinets.de/bkc/software/ferazellauncher.dmg.tgz")http://www.clarinets...auncher.dmg.tgz(/url) . Enjoy!

Excellent! I just downloaded it and I will definitely enjoy it. Although, the icon matter has never been that pressing to me the Dock issue always bugged the heck out of me. You can be sure this app will be on my Desktop. Thanks. Also, have you submitted it to the Ferazel Addons Page yet? Hmm That's a good idea! Do you mind if I use the resolution-switching part of it in MascotJuggler (my level-switching program)?
I don't know how to do the dock hiding thing with AppleScript though, I don't have OS X (although I now have 9.2! Wow! I'm actually upgrading my computer! It's a first!)
MascotJuggler still isn't for OS X, but at least the people with pre-X OSs can enjoy not losing their icon positions

I will do that. Thanks for the pointer.

I wouldn't mind letting you use the source, however it uses the CoreGraphics framework so it won't work on pre-X systems (FW X Launcher is a fully native Cocoa application, not Classic).
I don't mean the source, I just mean the idea (I didn't really have to ask). I'll take that as a yes. Thanks!
