Okay, so I've spent far too many hours playing FW, at the cost of personal hygiene, my GPA, my dating and married life), and countless hours of sleep. After catching a couple of hints off of this board on Xichra, I managed to finally knock her out, and get... what? A single graphic, an odd message ("Was that REALLY a habnabit nose under the insectoid mask?" Well, why doesn't Ferazel take the darn thing off and check it out?!), and the obligatory sign-off by the creators seems slightly anti-climactic after sending the poor dude sweating, freezing, burning in fire and acid, drowning, falling, climbing, and trying to work through some of the most sadistic puzzlers I've seen.
I suppose the journey is the reward (and I guess we'll be seeing a sequel at some point? hopeful look), but it would've been nice to have a bit more at the end. Minor complaint, though... Ben, Andrew, Eric, etc: Great work! (and Ben, stop over-achieving... you're making us older slackers look awful!)

Not likely. Ben has left Ambrosia to work at a PC-only company. While he might return as a contracted developer, the chances are slim. He gets paid much more at his new job then he did at ASW. Or at least I would imagine so, otherwise he wouldn't leave.

Ben has made it clear that he hasn't abandoned the Mac platform or Ferazel's Wand. A sequel is doubtful for reasons other than Ben's new job. For one thing, he stated on this board at one point that sales for Ferazel's Wand would have to climb up a bit before a sequel would ever be considered.
Speculations as to why Ben left Ambrosia are...speculations. Unless you have information you'd like to share with the rest of the class. So we shan't probably discuss it.

The first you've heard of Ben Spees or the first you've heard of him working for Ambrosia? Ben wrote Ferazel's Wand as an independent developer. As work on the game was finishing up, he began to work for Ambrosia as a programmer. Last month he took another job and no longer works for Ambrosia. There's Ben's life in a paragraph.
I havent actualy played Ferazel's wand. i mean no one offence but his nose looks like a bannana. =D

Unless you have the Ambrosia CD with all the demos on it, you'd pretty much have to download the demo from the website. None of the other games come on a CD, you see. So it's quite possible to have a number of Ambrosia games without ever once laying eyes on the Ferazel demo.
Mars Rising and Escape Velocity Override do.

Those games come on CDs? That's certainly news to me. It's strange since I have EVO and downloaded it from the website. Also, there was such a huge outcry when Ferazel was released on CD because it was the first game released from Ambrosia that was officially not shareware. Not even mentioning the fact that Ferazel was released after both of those games, so how the demo was released with those games is mystifying. Oh well.

I think the confusion here is that the Ferazel CD comes with all the other games on the same CD, so those whose first exposure to Ambrosia was with FW (such as myself), would not have downloaded the other games. I just used the games on the FW CD and then registered them. It was a big deal to me to have to download the 1.03 update (slow dial up server)!

Well..I suppose this is getting extremely pointless...but I'll continue on anyway!! I thought the idea that AVN was promoting was that if you had any other Ambrosia games, then you would have the Ferazel demo. But as you point out, it's probably the other way around. Which seems much more likely to me. So telling someone that if they have another Ambrosia game then they HAD to have seen the Ferazel demo would be..umm... not correct.
At any rate, I get the impression nobody really cares any longer. And they really shouldn't.
