I'm a Newbie

Hi, I just got the full version of FW so I'm just letting you know I might post in the future if I get stuck and can't figure out a level. And I'll probably do some replying too. You can check out my website if have some spare time, but it doesn't have anything about Ferazel. Here's a link: (url="http://"http://members.aol.com/zlateh")http://members.aol.com/zlateh(/url) . Once I download the level editor I'm looking forward to making some of my own levels...is it hard or easy? I've done level editing before in Starcraft and a few funky shareware games like Cave Bombers and Steel Fighters. Ok that's all I wanted to say, talk to you guys later.

Hmmmmm........ Depending on how you look at it, and what you've done before in the way of programming, it could be anywhere from meduim to hard. I do have to say that the editor isn't very user friendly, ex. you have to fill in fields simply labled "info", insted of "Speed, Direction, etc.", though the Read Me has all the info on what these fields mean. Some stuff you still will have to come to the board with, though!

Just make sure you take your programming questions to the Hacking board. AND READ THE FAQ!!! 😉

By the way, are there any Ferazel walkthroughs on the net? I just want to know for future reference.

Yes. But the most complete one isn't complete. It's missing the fire levels and the last 2 levels. The URL is (url="http://"http://www.macosjournal.com/staff/erica/ferazel/")http://www.macosjour.../erica/ferazel/(/url) . I think it's rather well done.

As far as the difficulty of editing levels, its VERY hard to edit when you don't have an active idea. Whenever I become even SLIGHTLY bored with editing, I stop for the night and pick up the next day. Also, it helps to look through the real game's levels for ideas on stuff to do. A final note, it makes an interesting plot to have a character try and find an item or two that doesn't do anything (a list is displyaed at the FAQ) and simply use that item as a key.

Bear in mind that we were all newbies at one point. I remember when i first got ferazel's wand, I couldn't even get pat Central Caverns without either dying or running out of the magic i needed to fireball the wall where i could break it...

Peace out.

Well I guess I'm not much of a newbie because I'm already on The Labyrinth and this is the 6th day I've had the game. 🙂
