First -- thanks for making a great game! I was so hooked that I probably neglected my lab duty responsibilities to defend Garendall from the powers of evil! Bravo on what looks like a hit -- Coldstone should be great fun.
Second, there are some issues in the game that I found most ugly.
If you clear out a level and save, when you reopen the saved game, all the monsters are there again! This is really tough if you have low health and have to save/quit in a hurry because of ahem work or something. It seems the saved game only saves the character's position, not the state of the game. I think this is highly annoying, especially because by accident, it is easy to get to a point.. relax.. save your game... and step away from it for a while -- only to find you have to do more work when you reopen it.
Documentation about the game was poor at best. I did not realize until about halfway through that you should use the defend action. How is armor tallied? How does a shield affect your armor? Can you still defend without a shield? Is there a difference? Does defend work regardless of weapons selected? I don't want too much detail (although my questions may seem to point to otherwise), but better documentation about what the stats mean, how defend works, and what not would just have made the learning curve a little better than what it is. Regardless of that, the game was not too difficult to get into.
There were a few minor bugs I discovered the course of gameplay. At one point, on the island of the liliths, when I tried to advance over a screen, that annoying dialogue came up - "You cannot advance any further until you register. Learn more?" I already had registered the game. I just quit the program and tried again, and it worked. Other times, I could not advance to an area at all. My character would stop at the edge and stand there. Eventually, if I went back and forth and up and down along the edge, it would shoot me over.. but was quite frustrating, especially if I was being chased by some creature.
The final issue -- I wish there was more to play!
Okay, so that's not really an issue... but hey, great game! Lots of fun... many hours wasted battling for good... Can't wait until you put together another one. Keep up the good work!
