Are you re-using your saved game file? There's an option to not reuse the same saved game file, so that if you mess up you can go back to the previous saved game file, and you only have a little bit to do over again.
Yes, I have that option on. I didn't give it much thought because it would just make it so I have to worry about file names which was real annoying in the demo and the manual didn't mention it as a fail-safe to keep your game from getting messed.
It would stink if I have to start over.
