Can anyone tell me if there's a way to get into that huge stash of multi-crystals, pentashields, and a heart, that is at the top of the cavern filled with Xichrons, after you FINALLY get across the white mines with enough life to go on!? I mean, can you get into it from WITHIN that cavern, or do you suddenly pop in there from somewhere else in the Flash Freeze level? Or...?
Also, I was going to ask a question about something else, but now I forgot what it was! I have been able to progress through Flash Freeze until I get the high jump power up, and I get up the wall fine, and have figured out the timing well enough to get through that next stretch and not get knocked into the freezing water until almost the end, where I can run out real fast and still have some health left over. I remember all that really well, because I had to do it over and over again (what else is new?).
But I think my question had to do with what comes next, so does anyone have a handle on that? I'm going to go back and try the game again, but won't come back here tonight. I may be asking again tomorrow!
Thanks to everyone for all the aid. Sure wish I could get through as fast as some of you seem to be going!

In general, if you can't break through a wall with boomerangs or fireballs, the next thing to try is fireseeds. In this case, that turns out to be the answer

I'm exactly where you are. We'll see if I'm any further tonight.
Oh...and Elizabeth is right, use fireseeds on the area you're talking about...but test both sides before you throw. This threw me off for awhile. I felt stupid!

How did you two get past that bottomless gap with the spiked snowballs? I get the invincibility shield and try to jump across as fast as I can, but inevitably the shield wears out before the end and get clobbered by the last two. Maybe there is a timing issue that I can't get down. I made it across but Ferazel died...rez necklace helped. But then I'm really in trouble in that room with spikes and mace balls flying everywhere. I couldn't survive past that arrow room for long.
A secret for blasting through the first wall above the two bow and arrows?
Thanks

On the save point before the spiked balls I made darn sure I was nearly full on health. So I just played the level above over and over until I was on that save point with nearly all my health intact. It is rather a timing issue...You have to be able to jump nearly as soon as you get the invincibility shield, and you WILL take some damage. Lots! But you can jump from the second to last ball to the wall in order to skip the last ball...which helps a bit. Then there are some health crystals and so on to get your health back up a bit. It took me many many times to make it across. I got frustrated a bit. Hang in there.
Hope that helps! ---Zelda

Zelda's post looks about like my story on that part.

Again, it's the timing. Instead of just rushing under the mace balls the minute the spikes are down, you have to let them go up and down a couple of times until they're up and the spikes are down, then try really hard to stay on the slippery hill plus stay out of the way of the knife-thrower's missiles while you wait for the long row of spikes to go down. The key...stay as near the top of the hill as you can. You won't be able to SEE the spikes, but LISTEN for them to go down, then make a run for it. Have a light touch on the run key, though, or you'll run straight into the next mace ball. If you can make it that far, you can pretty well time the last two ball and spike combinations. Of course, it helps if you've survived to that point with a pretty good supply of health!!!

I'm not sure what you're talking about here...?
Well, that quoting and unquoting didn't work quite like I thought it would, but it did the trick.
I now know what the trouble is after I get up the cliff with the high jump boot and finally get across the cold, cold river with the mace balls dropping at you all over the place (brrrr). Once you get through that door, the next thing in line, is a HUGE gap that it's impossible to jump (at least as far as I can tell. I have a feeling I need that I need the hammer, the ice pick, and the ice wall spell before I can go on. Anyone know where they are to be found?
Thanks, everyone, for the info about the fire seeds (dduuuuuuhhhh!) I feel pretty dumb!

I can't seem to manage that stupid gap either. Actually...it's a series of stupid gaps. You have to use the double speed powerup. I can make it across a couple of them, but then I either over or undershoot one. Dang..I would about give up a limb for a save point right before the attempt. It's soooo much to do over everytime I die. :::whine:::
Oh Zelda, I sympathize so much. I'm in the same place and in the same situation of having to do a whole big section over and over again because I keep missing those big jumps. Sigh... I guess I'll get it eventually. Of course, on plus side I can do the section between the most recent save and the big jumps really well now
Elizabeth
::chuckle of joy::
Right after my previous post, I went back and tried again to get across those jumps... and made it! Woo hoo!
Ok, so some advice for Zelda and others at that point: I was finally successful at getting across by holding down the speed run key (shift) while running until I'm in the air, then let go of the speed run key (shift) but keep the direction key (Numpad 6) down, then as soon as you're over land, let go of the direction key (Numpad 6). Then you can pause to breathe for a second before backing up as far as you can on the little section of land you get, and then repeat the process across the next jump. Then just keep going like that. The few seconds pause helps keep you from running right off the edge, and the speed power up lasts plenty long to get you across the 3 or 4 jumps.
Good luck to all; I'm off to Iceconoclasm! -Elizabeth

I made it too...yay! It feels sooooo good! And I think you found the exact trick to doing it. But I'm holding off on Iceconoclasm...I'm waiting for the update. I don't really want to send my game to Ben. So...I'm going back to try the Parched plains or earth or desert or whatever it is.
Thanks for the luck...I know I'm going to need it!
I have one more question since we're discussing this level. There are a couple of places where you see a little room that's blocked with an ice wall. Within the room is treasure of various sorts. In both cases there was an empty box nearby. I could not figure out how to get past the ice wall in either case. Now I have the ice pick and I went back and got into the first room, but I lack the courage to go through the level to get to the second room. Was there something I missed? Do you have to have the ice pick or was there another way in?
Zelda,
What's wierd is one time I was able to blast through those ice walls with spells but now I can't seem to do it. Or is my memory just failing me? I'm almost positive I did it. Anyhow, at the very Beginning of Flash Freeze, there is a wall of ice blocking a wood crate. I want to get to it. I thought I did it before but I can't do it this time. Anyone know why?

I dunno...Ben? Is this a bug or are we just lame idiots? (Somehow in my case I suspect the latter...)
Nah, not lame idiots at all! You were smart enough to buy Ferzal, right?
You do need the ice pick to get through those ice walls, generally, but I know that if you have two of those penta-shield things and you walk up to an ice wall, the shield will batter down the wall. So maybe that's what happened, Amorisse...or maybe not, who knows, just my best guess. Sometimes when you're fast you can walk right through the walls, too. Other than that, i'm not aware of any way to get past those walls besides the pick.
Zelda, all you missed past the second ice wall was two ziridium seeds and one smite ring, if I'm not mistaken. Personally, considering how WHOLESOME and FUN and downright ENJOYABLE Flash Freeze is, I wouldn't consider it worth it.
Oh, Rilla! Was that a LITTLE bit of sarcasm I heard in that post?
OK. I guess I'm about ready to dig in and try to clobber all those walls. I'm a little concerned about where I'm going to get the double speed power up, since the one at the entrance to the obstacle course of arrows doesn't last all the way to the doorway to the place where you have to jump. I know there's one in the cavern where all the xichrons are, but are they incremental? I mean, if I get two, is the power going to last longer? Well, I guess I'll find out.
I would have done this earlier, but choir practice stood in the way of Ferazel's Wand (sigh).
Zelda--that empty box you were speaking of isn't the one that you're supposed to leave alone in relationship to Dimbo/Nimbo, is it?
Can someone give me a hint on where the ice pick is (I seem to have missed it)?
Rilla...lol! Thanks for the information. I may have to go back to a save and see if that works. But I'm not going to work terribly hard at it. Not after the enjoyable wholesome fun I had the last time.
Lindawing...nope. These boxes were on the Flash Freeze level. The empty treasure box is on another level and it's clearly labled as "Nimbo's Secret Stash." I won't tell you which level unless you want me to.
Elizabeth...When you're doing the pit jumping thing at the end of the Flash Freeze level, there's a tunnel that's slightly below the next to last platform. You have to jump down to it very carefully. There's a save point, the merchant, and another double speed powerup so you can jump the last pit.
I gotta go get some REAL work done..you know..stuff they pay me for.

I was afraid you were going to say that.

Okay, so I just HAD to go back and try this. I had THREE of those penta-shield thingies and I still couldn't break that wall with the smite ring and ziridium seeds. I'm going to leave it alone now and move on with my life. It's not easy, though.
