Killing Enemies In Level 1

First of all thanks to Ereid the guy who has provided the
secrets of Level 1 with his page.

2nd of all killing the spiders, the roaches and the
goblins in Level 1.

Is it smarter to use the knife? The fireballs seem to
only work from a fairly long distance and then you have
to "lob" them at the enemies.

Still stuck in Level One but progressing. Will use the
cheats walkthru provided by ereid

The fireball can be plenty effective against the spiders if you crouch while firing. I find that I use the dagger almost exclusively while I'm underwater. Running out of magic power is almost never a problem, so I just pound away on the fireball (boomerang) button.

And just so you know, Elizabeth is a she. 😉

The knife uses none of your magic - so use the knife for sure to collect extra lives and magic (torches, rock piles, etc.) when you aren't so threatened that you need to be in "fireball mode". Also - leave torches and rock piles if you don't need them so you can come back and get them later when you might need them.
Don't forget that your fireballs and knife will get bad guys at a lower level if you use the "5: key to duck down.

Thanks for pointing that out to Al, JonBob. It's always amusing that people assume otherwise. 🙂

I guess that's what we get for being female in a primarily male world of computers. I'm one of four female programmers in a company of 100+ people. 🙂 If you don't mind me asking, Zelda, what is your occupation?

Yep..the world of gaming is primarily a boy's one. My occupation isn't quite as male dominated as yours. Not quite. I rule my corner of the world with an iron red pen. In otherwords, I'm an editor. I hate to say what I do because then them people always go expecting to hear and see gooder english from me!

Ohhh...the pressure....

I had to laugh out loud at this. Me, I'm an English teacher. Goodness knows no one could tell by my excellent posts, eh? Hehe. Anyhow, who says it's male dominated? I'd venture that there's an equal share of women playing this game, at least. Maybe they're finally making games that interest us 😉

------------------

I'd say this game must appeal to women, considering the bulk of the posts from Ereid, Amorisse, cats, and Zelda. Or maybe you ladies are just more willing to express yourselves on the board than we of the boorish sex. 🙂

And thank you, A. and Z., for your respective proficiencies with the English language. It's so nice to read messages from people who can spel.

Well, I'm a secretary/bookkeeper, desktop publisher, and webmaster...for my church! And I'm 50 years old, happily married, have six kids, and six grandkids (the latest born just last Friday). So how's THAT for a portrait of a computer gamer? My kids joke that I have computer wires for veins, and they laugh like crazy when Mom (Grandma) plays things like Marathon, Dark Forces, and...Ferazel's Wand...not because they think it's weird, but because I get so totally involved.

Of course, as I've said before, I'm a pretty low-level gamer, only because I'm dyslexic and can't remember series well enough to get through the REALLY hard games. I'm getting better at this one, though, and once the patch is out, I think I'll be able to beat it in the end. What wonderful satisfaction! 🙂
